More so called rioting?

Featured Replies

I've been watching a few old PK vids on youtube and i've noticed that in the comments there are lots of comments attempting to plan riots to attempt to get the wilderness back and to get rid of the trade limit.

I don't know about you guys but I really can't see them bringing it back even if they do form a successful "riot".

Personally I'd rather spend my time skilling or questing.

Thoughts and feelings?

Definition of riot in rs: People who are immature and try to get their way by throwing a tantrum in the middle of fally while the jmods all gather round a computer 'oh my god jeff come look at this look at what these newbs are crying about now haha!' and while the rest of the mature players look on and make that 'im not with them' face

how is that perm muted?

perm = permanant.

I don't see the point of this topic. Riots are long in the past, and no one really cares about them anyway.

Lol, rioters on youtube are like NATO.

No Action, Talk Only.

They'll never get organized enough to start a proper one. And even if they did, what will it do?

Id imagine there will be loads of rioting on December 10th this year.

Any PK vid thats popular has these things on. "RIOT WORLD 110, OVERFLOW WORLD 111"

There's like 2 people there, one being the guy's friends. It never works with the tube.

I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.

You say, even if they do a successful riot.

Riots are people who get together because their views aren't being listened to verbally, and so decide to make a physical stand for their cause, hopefully pressuring the government to buckle to stop violence spreading.

In Runescape, you can't riot, because all you do is perhaps cause a bit more lag in one part of the World in Runescape. The number of people in any world at any time is limited to 2000, so it's not even like they could try to lag out a whole world. There is nothing to be acheived by their so-called rioting, and many people have been muted for "rioting" in Runescape. They should either shut up and play the game or quit, but spending their time rioting is an utter waste, and only goes to prove their ignorance to how Runescape works, and thus, probably, their ignorance to why the Wilderness was removed in the first place.

I've used this example several times, and I'll say it again.

Riots will not work because Runescape is a dictatorship. Jagex makes updates and tells us what to do, and we are required to follow them or get out. All riots do is basically set yourself up as targets for metaphorical snipers at the top of Jagex Towers waiting to shoot you and force you to get out.

Also, it'd be impossible for a riot to truly effectively cause an impact because Jagex has been adding servers so that it will be nearly impossible for most of the servers to be full at one time. The only way to really fill up the servers would be by having every Runescape player (yes, every) attempt to log in at a specific time regardless of what time it is locally for them. Even if they did, this could only serve to help Jagex by making it seem that their game is so popular that they have hundreds of thousands of players playing at all hours of the day.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

In the time that people are attempting to riot, they could be enjoying the other factors of the game.

In the forum of general discussion something is being discussed, the point in the topic is for everyones views to be shared on rioting and although i don't approve of them, neither do most people obviously some people do. People are attempting to plan them, december the 10th being the most likely time so they're likely to be in the future.

All said its likely to be a load of pures and low levels who think its fun and don't understand they're achieving nothing.

I expect Jagex used the same rule when it comes to servers as when people safety test rollercoasters: Make sure that the server can handle double the load of what it would ever need to carry. Because there's a 2000 player limit, it's impossible for players to crash a server. I bet the world 1 and 2 servers could handle 5000 players, considering that they are regularly full, but it will never need to. The only way to actually crash a Jagex server would be to physically damage it, and nobody outside of Jagex knows where they are located.

To sum it up: Ignore the riots, they have no purpose.

He was permanently muted, but appealed it and got unmuted 10 minutes later.

OT: I don't really see the point of riots. They don't achieve anything except a mute/ban and the fact that Jagex won't respect you anymore.

j0xPu5R.png

It wont work. Though I like to watch the riots, I think they're funny. After an system crash is a guaranteed riot, so I always go to fally.

Jagex stated that they won't change it back even if more 50% of their members quit. But whatever their limit would be, it would take more than 50% of the members, therefore, to organise an actually successful riot... that means several hundred thousand, which wouldn't fit onto all the worlds assuming 2000 people limits. I could see how a successful riot could be - I'd imagine something like blocking a certain spot or two for something 24/7, for example mining all the rune rocks all the time on every world, rap!ng BH even more than it already is, or something of the sort (the point being to block other players' enjoyment which Jagex has to step against) - but oh please, nobody actually believes this could happen? And most likely, even if it happened, Jagex would just ban a few to set an example and the riot would disperse.

You're being watched.

I'm aware some people say this to try get people to get to a spot and it never happens, i know someone who posts on videos saying riot at X but does it as a joke

smellysockssigbyblfazer.png

You are naive to think that youtube comments hold any water.

I just love the slogan "We pay to pk". Makes me want to bang my head against the table everytime I see it.

:wall: Riots are about as useful as the UN. They're both about whining and moaning about necessary or unimportant issues.

No witty signatures for me :(

Riots (Runescape):

Hundreds of people getting together and whining like babies, hoping to get their way.

I'm sorry if that offends anyone, or if I'm generalizing. There really is no way that calling hundreds of people to spam could be mature in any way, nor is it a way of getting what you want.

The fact that people advertise on Youtube confirms it, I think...

These so called "riots" make me laugh.

Id imagine there will be loads of rioting on December 10th this year.

Remember remember the tenth of December

Wilderness, treason and plot.

I see no reason why wilderness, treason

Should ever be forgot...

>_> That's all I could think of.

But yeah, I hope there's not rioting. =/ If done for the right reason it's a good thing. This is not the right reason. This would more than likely be immature.

Riots are like Democrats, stupid, dumb, and don't get anything done.

Retired from Runescape September 1, 2008

Nothing is solved by these 'riots'.

If you want to get something changed, post constructive-criticism on the RSOF Rants section, or better yet post alternatives in the Suggestions forums. Believe me, Jagex doesn't really like riots... and more often then not it just turns into a huge rule breaking fest that just ends up getting people reported, muted, or sometimes banned and they just get more upset.

Jagex WILL listen to you...you just need to do it in the right way.

ohmygosh3gk9.jpg

Rioters suck. No witty comment or comparison. That is all.
