Box for XBOX Live Username

I think there should be an optional profile box for your XBOX Live Username or your PSN.

 

 

 

 

 

This is a very easy thing to add in, and it could be fun playing with other tip.it users :)

 

 

 

 

 

Note: if this was already suggested then I apologize, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged if I don't find it myself first ;)

I believe that such a feature isnt implemented, as then you'd have loads of users asking for a space for brawl codes, etc.

 

 

 

If you want, I think you can crate a thread on the Video games/Consoles forum, and ask for usernames there etc.

That way the information is already available to you, and you don't have to ask. That is unless the user chose not to provide that information.

I'm pretty sure that they both work of the same principle, and as i said, if a feature we implatemented for the Xbox, then they'd have to add one for other platforms and games aswell.

 

 

 

Also, in your profile, there's a box to put intrests. If a person was intersted in the Xbox, and wanted to share his/her username, he/she could put it there.

I do like the interests thing...but why would you add one for seperate games? Console only. There is no need to put specific games.

to be honest, this forum is all about runescape, and therefore we don't need a box for such things. Just go to the subforum for games :P

I pretty much agree with what others have said. What makes XBOX Live so special? If there's a box for XBOX Live, people will want a box for WoW or LOTRO or other major games. Certain games cannot be given special treatment or attention, because then people who play other games will want the same features. Just create a thread in the Video Games & Consoles forum, as someone suggested :)

Why does one need to be implanted into the forums? Tip.It is not for XBOX Live, or the like. It is for RuneScape. And if they did give it, then everyone else would ask for their thing to be put it.

 

It is just easier to put it into your signature or do what I have done and fiddled with your location area.

To be honest, 'everyone else would ask for theirs to be put in', is a very vague and ridiculous reason to not do this, though I do agree this shouldn't be implemented, because this is a RuneScape board.

 

 

 

You could use the same reasoning to not do any contests, not to have certain stickies, not to have smileys, not to have any personal options in the profile, and even to argue over certain forum rules. But we only use this reasoning 'Everyone else...would ask for theirs to be put in,' when it suits our opinions. >.>

I think it is a very valid reason and it has been used in the past. When I was an admin, I used to get PMs asking: "Hey, I'm hosting a contest in Off-Topic. Can you please give the winner a custom rank?" and our answer was always no. Why? Because there are a bunch of contests hosted by users on Tip.it, and if one contest was given a custom rank as a prize (other than our official Rank Contest), then it wouldn't be fair to the other users who want one too. And if we give out custom ranks for EVERY contest, then they don't become special anymore. Consistency is very important when making decisions in order to be fair to everybody.

Provide a single miscellaneous alternate username slot, which can be used for a name/number for 'XBL' / 'PSN' / 'Wii' / 'WoW' / 'LOTRO' / '2nd RSN' / etc. and leave it at that. It would effectively cover all future requests for being able to show an alternate username from another online service. Also, it would say at the same time, "We've given you this, choose your favorite and stick with it. Change it only if needs be.", which should get the point across to some of these whiners that keep popping up. :D

Or you could just tell users that if they wanted to shout their alternate IDs to the world so badly they could put it in their location or clan line. And yes, i'm sure me saying this will cause you to fly off on some dissertation about how "some people want to reserve that space for their location" or something about how "putting clan info in the clan section is uber important," or "well I just HAVE to put what amounts to a personal ad in my location bar,"......

 

 

 

but frankly, if they want everyone to know their XBL name so much they should either sacrifice part of their profile or just start/join a thread in the video game section of off topic.

There's lots of signature bars for XBox Live flying around the Internet. If you get one for XBox, I demand one for my Wii. The consequence is ironicly long mini-profiles.

Considering this is a RS forum, I don't think it is needed. I'm sure there is a thread where XBL usernames are listed. Plus you can always use your signature. :)

I don't see any relevance, to be honest. Some common sense should be used. It's a RuneScape forum. There will be a box for a RuneScape name. Devnull, you can't cater to everyone. Things just can't work that way. It's good that you want to make people happy, but this is overkill.

There are threads in the video games section of off topic where you can put your name on a list of other Tipiters Online name things. Ie the Steam acc one, XBOX live, PSN etc etc.
