I think big fansites like tip.it (we are the biggest :P ) will own larges areas like edge and such ..

Tip.it is NOT the biggest, Runescape Community is. They have nearly double the members that Tip.it has. Tip.it has 168,288 member at the time of this post, whereas Runescape Community (Zybez.net's forum) has 296,699. Here are the stats on each forum:

How is Tip.it even CLOSE to their numbers?? Even if you take away total posts and topics and members, they have more active members online at any one point in time; their record is actually 5.3x Tip.it's, and it's not something that they would have any reason to change manually.

Your credibility is thusly nullified and voided. Thank you for posting, now please leave and take your exaggerations with you.

On Topic: I believe it will be impossible for a clan to hold any one place because of one fact: peoples' desire to crush something unique. If a person is ruling over an area 20,000 people will want to try and stop him. You will need at least half of the server's population (read: at least 1,000) to take over the place, and even then you won't be able to hold onto it forever, you will need to log off to go to sleep at some point.

But complete dominance is just not going to happen - no clan has the numbers.
I bet an alliance could do it if they were dedicated enough. The Alliance <3:

No, even I doubt that The Alliance could pull the numbers needed to take over the entire map (or any entire subsection thereof).

Anyway, I'm believing that there's a side that we're not getting. What besides humans could possibly be involved on these special worlds?

Also, tip.it has more hits on the main site, and on a poll something like 80% of tipit's users weren't registered on the forums ( I may be totally off there, but it was the majority)

I do agree with your on topic part though.

Anyway, most of tipit are clueless on how to fight in groups, pking or clan wise, no offense to them, but at events i've seen, and mssw, people had no idea what to do, that even a basic pker would have know what to do.

Will you loose stuff (when you get killed by a player) in pvp only world?

When I suggested a similar PK anywhere idea two years ago, there was skulling and no gravestones. Seeing what Jagex wrote, likely it'll be the following:

If you die with a skull (on a PvP world), your tombstone can be plundered for a random drop, but only by your killer for the first minute then anyone afterwards. The value of the drop depends on what you left behind I assume.

Problems with that is of course with "junk" items that are still considered valuable in Jagex's GE eyes. Granted, the random drop may make this a moot effort. We shall see.

PS: I bumped my original suggestion in the Bugs and Suggestion forum. Looks like a few of the ideas are being implemented (question is whether Jagex used mine or just came up with it on their own).

Well some of tipit do belong to some pking clans, so they should be good. And also, oyu cant compare the amount of active rscers vs tipiters equally, as rsc measures per 15mins whilst tipit does per 5mins.

But...RSC is the biggest, but I'm pretty sure Tipit is 2nd largest (by user count) , seeing as rhq has about 18k users and sals 22k. Rune village has 42k ish and Runecrypt has 21k ish.

Why even compare the fansites for war?

Couple of home truths.

1. No fansite will be organised enough to stop BSing. No memberlists and alot of players will have no honour to the site

2. MSSW3 showed that tipit DOMINATED RSC.

3. RSC is home to alot of clans... that being said alot of them have no loyalty to RSC so it would be clan > fansite.

Oh and about the comment earlier about alot of tipiters having no pking experience. I would agree to some extent.. but then again out of the numerous people from TIF that i have on my friends list... alot have pked... quite often. Just because tipit doesn't do annual pk trips (I remember RHQ did one and i ran into them... couldn't kill a level 90 from GDZ ::' ) doesn't mean that they don't have people who can follow orders and who know what they're doing.

I noticed a lot of people taht said they'd like to kill ppl who are skilling or doing stuff, well just remember, only certain worlds will be pvp. I must say, =PPP to you guys!

Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.

I could see tip.it taking edge, its such a small area to take over, and at first glance its useless. For the amount of high levels that support tip.it I'm sure edge can be ours. :)

+1

And whenever RS crashes their forums turn into 4chan.

Anywho, I think that taking hold of Falador, Varrock, or Ardougne would be near impossible no matter how many people you had. If a town had walls and a good amount of people from all time zones, it would be easy to defend. Like Lumbridge Castle. ;o

Oi! Those kind of insults are unneeded, a healthy rivalry is fine, but slander isn't. Also those ads are put up by google.

I want to jump into all the Zybez vs TipIt thing going on

First off, Tip.it has much more history than Zybez. Tip.it has had a HUGE influence on Runescape. I remember early 2006, both fansites (forums) had about the same amount of total registered members, then RS Community/Zybez started to pick up somehow. I suppose it is mainly because of the clan activity going on there. TipIt was the very first Runescape fansite. Zybez is was a no-namer. If you go back to websites about Runescape in 2001 to 2004, Zybez is rarely or ever mentioned. Moving onto the present:

The ads on Runescape Community are NOT AdSense. Various times have banners been manually added by W13 to the top-right header. Some of these ads said "buy Runescape gold! cheap. Go from level 3 to 120 in a week! learn how!" and ect. All of which go against RS rules. The staff at RS-C say it is to pay for their hosting costs. They try to force the RS rules but they can't set an example. Another event was when SwiftSwitch was updated to display two green arrows - one up & other down. They were used to hide the ads of free worlds. First, Andrew himself registered an account and posted how angry he was and demanding they were removed. Soon after, a newsletter came out specifying that green arrows (up & down) used to block ads on free worlds were not allowed. SS was the only program at the time that had that feature. Sure, blame SS staff but SS is primarily hosted on RS-C. RS-C staff could had blocked SS and they didn't, so they can be blamed too. The rules at the time this feature was added clearly stated that blocking ads were not cool.

These are only some occasions which RS-C has "cheated" :)

edit: If you want to discuss which fansite has had more influence on RS, we can do that. Also remember that this exact forum has had 2-3 rollbacks. RuneTips (the fansite itself) has moved board various times as well. If it hadn't, I would say TipIt Forums would have 500k+ members.

Working out topic

Everything related to working out! Ask questions, get honest answers. Share your experiences, work out routines, stories, opinions, and discuss about working out! Everything :). Check it out :)

I think it would be rather comical if a clan tried to seize control of someplace, and a level 3 skiller walked in and none of the clan members could attack because of the level limit.

I just want to see where the new "Axe Hut", "Castle" and "Greaters" will be. I guarantee you, all the good XP spots will have a clan there. This will be great. :D

And maybe if we're reeeally lucky, they'll make the wildy rev-free in the PK worlds. (I just want the f2p ice giants training spot back, where you arnt attacked by some level 120 ghost every 5 minutes :( )

I am definately looking forward to this update.

Off Topic: I have to say, 2008 is turning out to be a great year for RS. Especially after the updates of late '07, which I was very critical of. I really have to hand it to Jagex though, very nice.

EDIT: And finally, Clans have a use in RS again! I mean, after the wilderness was taken out, there was really very little that you could do competitively in a clan. But this should change a lot.

Some games do not mix...

gtasimcopy.gif

Tip.it is more of a community (even if disfunctional) than Zybez, Tip.it could take over an area easier than Zybez and Zybez > Tip.it in almost every way possible.

Now that being said. I hate all this "taking over" thing. Like part of the world was yours! But at least it definitely won't happen on any level higher than individual clans. You couldn't make an official "Tip.it" clan because it would be too kiddy; you couldn't make an official Zybez clan because there are more morons here and it's just not as serious, and let us not get started on the RSOF. Not to mention people aren't really "loyal" to forums - it's just a place to talk and relax at, not a damn corporation.

As to the people flaming other fansites, yes, that's what I was covertly doing with Tip.it in the first paragraph. Offended? Then quit the childish behavior. And they say the TIF is serious... my face <.<

2077089531_93b87b9d10.jpg

You're being watched.

Zybez and tip.it both have their charms. Zybez was the first to have an active market price system. You knew you could rely on their accurate price ratings for your sellings in world 2.

Tip.it is not a clan forum, unlike rs-c, which is to be seen in the community. We don't have the big clans flaming eachother in some topic which needs to be locked in 5 minutes.

Zybez had come up with a great rs client, which is legal now. They also have a video database.

Tip.it on the other hand holds lots of discussions in the general forum, like right now. Which gives us some good insight for things to come.

Lets just stop bashing eachother. We don't need to flame pears because they aren't apples.

On topic: I believe that the easier a place is to reach, the more people there will be. For example, the altar tablets and the cabbage teleport.

The more resources the place holds and the easier accesable it is, the more people it will hold to put up a fight.

lol one of the biggest pvp updates of the year, and tip it is discussing granite

theres no point in a single fan site "taking over" areas, they will just be targets for clans who are far better leveled, geared up and organised, as nice as it would be you would be stupid to make one.

Im looking forward to having no competition for any spots- time to train up mage again.

I hope they actually make NEW pvp servers, instead of turning existing worlds to pvp. If they did the latter, people would be scared of getting player-owned, the non-pvp worlds woul;d be over-populated, and it'd be even HARDER to find an empty kbd world.

I'm thinking they will, Jagex has plenty of money to spare at this point and would probably pull out all the stops for an update of this magnitude.

Walkman1022.jpeg

I don't think certain areas will be for certain sites or clans, because it will be very hard to always have enough people there to defend it. Also, even if the site or clan is able to it, because they're such a big site, there is still a rather big chance that they will be defeated when other clans go togheter to get the area back. A third reason is that it will get rather boring to stay at the same place all the time for those who are there to defend it. This could be soloved by switching defenders, but there is still a chance that it will get rather boring.

So no, I don't think that there will be too many people that takes control of certain areas. But I'm no pking expert, so I might be wrong.

I bet one ancienter could hold the bridge depending on the type of people attacking.

I wonder if they'll allow people attacking from different levels? Because If so people could take Ardaugne Castle, Falador Castle, Varrock Castle, and many other places that would be awesome for PKers! I really can't wait for this update, I'll probably just walk around with no items for the first day and see where people are gathering lol.
