Russia threatens U.S. and Poland with Nuclear Attack.

Featured Replies

Russia is a danger to the entire world. They need to be destroyed.

For every nuke that hits us or any other country, I hope 10 hit them.

As much as your expert negiotiation and tactical judgement goes...i don't think you're quite qualified to direct WWIII yet. Sorry.

I honestly hope they nuke the U.S, would certainly make the world a more interesting place. On the contray, I hope they don't nuke Poland, they've never done anything seriously wrong.

But based on the first article, just tells us who/where Russia would attack. Not necessarily threatening.

Yeah, you know I think I can come up with a few more ways to make the world a more interesting place than starting a NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST. Good idea.

"He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."

Even if Russia fired a missile, technology has made us capable of intercepting that rocket with another one.

:wall: That's the reason Russia is threatening us. They don't want a missile shield. Besides, they could go overkill with nukes and overload the missile defence. Not to mention SLBM's which could be anywhere :|

Russia needs to put their big boy underwear on. Why would we leave ourselves vulnerable to missile-based attacks? It's idiotic. Why would we want ourselves to be hit by missiles if we could stop them and save people?

While Russia needs those big boy underwear, the United States needs to start wearing Fair underwear. If Russia tried to set up a missile defense system in any country it will be shot down by the US (not literately).

It's not America vs. Russia, its one group of idiots vs. another.

I seriously doubt we would make the first strike.

What makes you think so? You've already been close of the 3rd strike against non training targets many times, for example in Dien Bien Phu, Vietnam and so on.

A move like that would be extremely idiotic and to be honest, if we nuke them first, then we're just begging to be nuked back.

And you're so superior when compared to russians that only they could do it?

The question on my mind is: Do the Russians have the guts to declare nuclear war on the US

Having guts is not a synonym to being a suicidial and selfish idiot. The question should be "is any nation stupid and suicidial enough to declare a nuclear war".

Why would Russia want to be under the threat without same kind of possibility to retaliate if needed? You've already bombed places for a lot less.

We nuked (if those thing could even be called nukes, the ones we have now are much more dangerous) Japan, because if we didn't we would have invaded and lost thousands of our men.

I don't say I'm superior, but Russia is on the warpath. They will decide the next move. But right now we aren't even at war, and until we have to shoot down one of their missles over the Atlantic, I don't think that will change. And we WILL NOT vaporize a chunk of a country that we aren't at war with. And I don't think anyone wants a war with Russia.

Srsly -_-

However, as to the "who would fire first", if Russia keeps hinting at threats and makes too much of an aggressive move, we'll probably do something - although conventionally. This is just Russia preening their peacock feathers. Like I said, it's obvious their leaders liked being the world's bogeymen decades ago. And Hohto is right, it isn't guts, it's idiocy.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Typical British Propaganda, they wouldn't last very long in a war without the americans. Heck they'd be speaking German today if it wasn't for the U.S.

You know the majority of the War was fought on the East side, right?

Alas, one forgets that Russia had an equal hand in winning WWII with the United States, and endured far more casualties than the United States, Germany, and Japan combined.

Bravo with the typical "America won the war for the world" propaganda though. =D>

edit: I should say the USSR lost that many casualties, but I digress.

I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that if Russia had an organized army instead of just a mass amount of soldiers with no training they would have done better. All Russia did was burn a city to the ground and retreat further into Russia on the grounds that they had more people and would outlast the Germans, which they did. A lot of those casualties were their own fault.

Sure they were untrained and the casualties were their own fault, but you still cannot ignore the massive impact they had on winning the war, that was my point.

You never know, the rest of the Axis may never have turned on the Soviets if we hadn't been involved. Doubtful, but possible.

By the way, Hohto, why did Finland join in Operation Barbarossa?

No one says they didn't have an impact. There is a reason that we were called the "allies". Team effort. That said the U.S. was the only country that was crucial to victory.

My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet.

These are the times that try mens souls...
By the way, Hohto, why did Finland join in Operation Barbarossa?

From Germany's point of view, we had two advantages:

* Logistically our soil was vital part in order to go for such a massive attack.

* Our will to take part

Don't think the first reason is worth explaining, but the second might be. First of all, we've been pretty much loyal to Germany after our independency in 1917. In fact we were few weeks away from getting a german king back in then. Later they assisted us with weapons and political support while other western nations turned their back during the winter war. By accepting the only aid we could get we partly became Germany's allies during WW2. Despite the fact that Hitler's Germany did many things I do not accept (who could?), I believe our alliance with them was the only choice and historically justified.

I'd like to point out that USSR had already attacked Finland (second war with them) few months before Operation Barbarossa.

So showing off the power to USSR wasn't one motive? So testing new weapons on an actual target was no real reason to do it? Those nukes killed hundreds of thousands of CIVILIANS and almost no soldiers. People got hung in Nürenberg for a lot less. Also you made the first moves there and you've been close of using nukes later in different countries. What makes you really believe USA wouldn't be able to strike first?

I don't say I'm superior, but Russia is on the warpath.

And in the other words your aggressive policy in Poland for example aren't provocating them? They are now normally reacting to your aggression. If that reaction is being on the warpath, then they at least aren't alone.

They will decide the next move.

You already made your first move by officially accepting the missile shield after Russia had made their opinion clear over a year ago.

Sure they were untrained and the casualties were their own fault

I'd like to state my two cents here too, seeing that Finland was the first country to have get int oa real war against USSR and later fought in round 2 too.

First of all, pretty much ALL of their high ranked officers got killed or had to escape due Stalin's policy to replace "dangerous" people. Due this people got promoted from 2nd lieutenants into generals within one night and most of the highest officers didn't have the knowledge to do their job. This added to the russian strategy was bad for the soldiers: their strategy was to go forwards until they got shot: if they had retreated, they would have been shot by their own people. Also during the first years of WW2, they were really badly prepared for winter conditions for example.

That all added together in Winter war and made USSR look really weak. That made Hitler assume that USSR was a giant with clay legs and it could be striken down fast and thus caused Operation Barbarossa. Of course the desperate situation trained the officers more than any training ground or wargame could and in 1945 red army was without any doubts the most dangerous army on this planet.

Also you made the first moves there

I hope you mean something other than World War II. Japan attacked us the day before a diplomat was to be sent there.

I think we should develop a neutrality policy again, to be perfectly honest. But we've already got too much going on for that. >_>

Was relating to the missile shield in Poland, but still it applies for Japan and WW2 too. You were arming their enemies, blocked their trade, gotten warnings and so on. Economical warfare is a step too. Was it "worth" a war is another question but that wasn't the question :P

Honestly I doubt they will strike and i pray to got they dont. Of course if they hit America im doomed becuase I live in Pa and iff Washington DC gets hit, the nuclear fallout will reach us, and if they hit Three Mile Island well....

But its probably just a scare tactic and unless it escalates I wont worry too much about it.

Sig

The main problem here is that the threat of a nuclear attack is a Catch-22 -- if they use theirs, we'll most likely use ours, and that will NOT end well for Europe. Outside of that, it sounds more like a hollow threat than anything that's to strike fear and terror in our hearts.

I didn't read the whole thread, i admit it.....who cares, lynch me.

ANYWAY, in response to the above. America did win the war actually and help preserve the rest of Europe.. The only reason we are allies with Russia in the first place is our common enemy, Germany. Take America out of the situation and after Russia repels the Germans out of Russia they could give a flying pig slop what happened, as long as they defeated their enemy. Plus who would be left to fight those pesky Japanese in the pacific, surely not the Russians? I guess you forgot Japan and Itlay both were part of the Axis powers during WWII. Take America out and its basically a handful of allies and Russia. Meaning Russia fighting a 2 front war. America won the war with assistance from allied powers.

Now about Russia these days, all i can tell right now is empty threats. Same thing went on and is going on with Iran. Just flexing their muscles, then the politics will come into play.

Kriegsig1copy2b.jpg

Kriegsmier, history has been changed since the Cold War in both fronts; the East claims they had a much larger contribution to winning the war, while the West claims they had a much larger contribution to winning the war.

The fact is, neither would have won anything without the other, and both contributed just as much on their respected fronts.

all im gonig to say: thank god i live in Australia.

im not some hippy who's against war etc btu im not one to favor such behaviour, unless its swords. (yeah i know, wierd.)

Popoto.~<3

Eek! I really hope we can all just get along soon because things like this make me feel like we're going into another cold war.
