/b/ is what I guess you can call a forum on a site called 4chan. It's probably the most popular forum out there. Mostly it discusses Japanese culture, but there are all kinds of boards for cars, videogames, pretty much anything you can name. They are given an abbreviated name with a / on both sides. /b/ is called the Random board, where you can discuss anything. Literally, anything. Unfortunatly immaturaty brings everything from disgusting or pornographic images to weird internet fads called memes that are basically the cliches of the interwebs, which is where some of these "fail" and "lolcat" images come from. Do not go to /b/ if you value your sanity.

Strictly speaking, its a futaba imageboard more so than a forum. Though that being said its far from the "most popular".

 

Immaturity never brought either of those things. Those things were on /b/ since ever, its the only board on the site youre allowed to post it, in fact. Gaia[bleep]s, new[bleep]s and the cancer killing /b/ all brought in the [bleep]ry you see today.

 

Also, "fail" did not come from /b/. Terms like "Epic win/fail", were spammed about should something epic happen, though (usually a good EFG thread). "lolcats", however, did originate from /b/. Caturday, to be specific. Some bright spark obviously saw that the rest of the world would also find it funny and decided to slap a watermark on them and say "HEY GUISE LUK WOT I MAED". Same goes for "motifakes".
