I don't think you get it. Obviously the life-or-death situations are merely exaggerations, and they won't happen. In normal situations, there's no reason to hit a girl. If they punched me, and I knew them long enough, i'd punch back lightly, simply because I'm being playful. Otherwise, it just seems wrong to me, I'm not a sadist toward them, and don't even think I'm a feminist either. It just seems wrong, or is that a standard of society? I'll let you figure that one out. I have coursework to get done, so don't expect me to reply back for about... 36 hours.

I don't want to start a war, but I just hate how women want equal right yet claim to be weaker than men. A lot of women (especially feminists) pull this card all the time on guys at my school. It makes it even worse that guys get laughed at when a girl beats them up but girls become empowered when they are (accidently) tripped in a hallway.

 

Actually women are physically weaker than men (Read my earlier post), but I think we are emotionally stronger. I definitely think we can win arguments better :D

 

 

 

Again we're bringing equality up. Equality has nothing to do with hurting each other, it's to do with a persons rights in society, such as the right to vote, the right get get equal pay, etc. Do you realize that in the UK women on average get paid less for doing exactly the same job as the men? The trouble is the real issues regarding equality men haven't a clue about as it doesn't effect them. I do know a lot of men have problems with having a female boss, and that's something they just gotta get over.

 

 

 

Back on topic now, is it wrong for a man to hit a woman? Now lets clear things up, people have stated No, not if she's coming at you with a knife or we're in a war situation (We do have female soldiers you know). But I don't think the original poster was referring to these situations, you get a lot of drunken violence in the evenings in clubs and pubs, and NO it's not ok to hit ANYONE, regardless if it's a girl or a guy.

 

 

 

There is something nobody has mentioned yet that happened to my friend. Domestic violence. Her husband was using physical and emotional tactics to hurt her and keep her in check. She went from being a very out going, happy bubbly girl to a complete introvert. If she ever spoke up he would beat up on her, he kept calling her fat when in fact she was very skinny reducing her self esteem to nothing. it took her 2 years to admit to anyone this was going on and to get out of the relationship. Please don't say "She could have walked away anytime" because it's not like that. This is wrong, It's a classic case where a man could use his strength over a woman. I know it happens the other way around and that too is totally unacceptable, but it's more common that men are more violent, admit it, it's in your hormones!

 

 

 

Talking of hormones, I brushed on that subject earlier. We don't realize how much they play in our everyday life! Men are fueled by Testosterone (Androgens), these are responsible for amongst other things, muscle mass, Libido and aggression. Men get a constant stream of these all the time, so you're used to it and can usually control yourselves. Women on the other hand do have testosterone produced in the body but only a fraction of that of men, if we didn't have any testosterone we would have no libido at all! But generally the estrogen keeps the testosterone in check, except for that annoying part in the month where estrogen levels drop causing an imbalance and our emotional levels go crazy. And no it's not just because we're a moody bunch, we simply can't help it :P. The other thing is, we get more horny when we drink alcohol, and that's because alcohol has a sort of dampening effect on our estrogen levels allowing testosterone to do it's stuff, that plus the general effect of alcohol is a crazy combination. Lets face it, you guys are better at dealing with testosterone than we are, and women are drinking to excess much more which may account for the rise in violent girls in pubs we're seeing these days.[/hide]

 

I agree with your reasoning on testosterone and alcohol, but you also contradicted yourself there. You say that you consider women emotionally stronger, yet you turn around and say that your emotions go out of whack when you drink alcohol/that certain time of the month? To me that makes no sense. I don't think that you can claim that those are physical factors that lead to the shift in emotions, because in the end, it's still a much more dramatic shift than what men experience.

 

 

 

I think that I need to change my previous post a bit. I hit guys more often, and a woman/girl very little. Why? I'd say it's because of society's impact on me. I don't want to be viewed as something negative, so I won't do things that get negative views attributed to me. Also, I'm not real good friends with many girls/woman, so I don't find myself in a situation where I would hit one (As in a friendly punch. The best way to describe it would be brotherly). Still, I think my previous statement stands. I will hit a male or female, and in the exact same situation, I would try to achieve the same effect. If it's intimidation, I may only threaten a female where I would punch a male, but I think they would achieve the same effect, so they are equal in my view.

 

 

 

That's what I was wondering. I lol'ed when she said that women were more emotionally stable :lol: . Also, your example of your real life friend's husband abusing her proves that women are more self-conscious and unstable. I'd be scared if I met a guy who was afraid to leave home because of abuse (And don't pull feminist crap on me. It does happen all the time.)

Gonna make a guess here, and this is as a female.

 

Two guys fighting, or a girl fighting a guy (not the guy fighting back) where is the guy gonna get hit. The stomach, or chest, a face hit is basically out of the question, in general.

 

However, if a guy hits a girl, he is more likely to hit her breasts, in which case she could call out sexual harassment, and the guy is screwed.

 

Either way, it's just one of life's little things.

 

Plus as I said, I'm a girl, so this doesn't affect me in anyways but good ones, I guess

I wouldn't hit them if they attacked me, but I'd try to restrain them, by twisting their arm back, or even just sitting on them. If it's playful, I see nothing wrong with that. I don't see hitting as able to achieve anything though.

It really depends on the situation; if a girl was just messing around, or was mad at me for some reason, no, I wouldn't hit her. If she was actually trying to hurt me, I would try to calm her down or something.. Because honestly, the double standard of society bars me from doing anything more. If I threw a punch or two in self defense, I would probably be charged with assault... And I would never be stupid enough to punch a girl, for two reasons. One, I'm not the kind of person who solves everything with violence. And two, some of the women I know could kick my [wagon]. Common sense, neh? ;)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(Slightly offtopic, I've read a few books that have societies with the same mindset, in reverse. It's all in the mentality of the culture. Earth's societies, predominantly patriarchal ones, have cultural mindsets like 'women are weaker' and 'personal wealth is important', not to mention religous beliefs, not because these are the correct views on these subjects, but because they are the ones that we have been conditioned since birth to believe are correct. It's simply a matter of perspective.)

Girls are more violent, I see far more girl on girl fights than any involving males.

 

 

 

The main difference is that Women are not normally strong enough to do allot of damage plus their fights normaly start off tame and then escalate by which point security has normally broken up the fight before it reaches it's peak.

 

 

 

A punch from a grown man is easily fatal, I would not punch someone in the head and expect them to be walking again any time soon, most fights involving males seem to happen spontaneously and without warning. At least Girls normally have to provoke their opponent.

 

 

 

 

 

Those are my observations.
