August 27, 200817 yr I've already lost what little hope I had left in our justice system after this morning. Had to take a friend to court; a dude there (55) was in involved in a hit and run while drunk AND on a suspended licence. 6 months suspended jail sentence on good bahaviour, banned from holding a licence for 2 years and a $1450 fine. If that was a person around 20, they would've gone to jail for certain, no questions asked. The system already fails. With a good lawyer (like this guy had) you can almost get away with murder, unless you're a celebrity in which case you can get away with murder.
August 27, 200817 yr Of course it is plain wrong. It's not even up for discussion. You're not old fashioned. 99.99% of the forumers who say they will slap a girl just have a big mouth. Look buddy, if someone hits me, I'm going to hit back. Do you know anyone in this forum, let alone myself? No, then why assume we wouldn't hit a chick.
August 27, 200817 yr I think you get the point of equality all wrong as over the years it's become forgotten what it's all about. Before the suffrajets, women were little more than slaves, tied to the sink and not even allowed to vote. I know if things were still the same I would not be in my current job. It has nothing to do with physical violence, so stop bringing up the equality thing. No way can you say it's OK to be able to use physical violence because we now have the same rights in life #-o [Assist-X]
August 27, 200817 yr ^ I don't think that's the point everyone is trying to make here. What most are saying is that is that if you attack someone, they'll defend themselves regardless of gender.

August 27, 200817 yr It might be a 'moral' question to some people.. But really if your life depended on it, everyone would hit or even kill a woman, even How2PK (well, most people who wanted to stay alive). Think about countries like Iran or China that use female soldiers as young as 16? What about some african countries using kids even as young as 11? (Some rebel factions might even use 5-7 year olds as soldiers) If someone's firing at you or threatening your life, I doubt you'd just sit there and ponder about morals in that situation. It might be nauseating, but if a kid/female is determined to take your life, are you just going to think "I'm not firing at them because they're weaker"? Hardly applies in western countries, but if a female was acting psycho & causing serious pain to you, would you just let her continue because of her gender? That sounds ridiculous.

Exactly, it's really just the social reaction that stops people from doing it: Punch a girl and all the guys around you will think lowly of you. However, if your life was in danger and a girl was coming at you with a knife, they'd probably think you were stupid if you merely tried restraining her.
August 27, 200817 yr if anyone (regardless of sex) is coming after me with a gun/knife/etc. ima punch em down then prob knock em out. hopefully ill never have to do this though  PSN: Skaterguy1224 Tactical Nukes - 22

If I was in the military, and was fighting people who'd armed children and women, I'd probably try not to kill them, just disable them. Several NATO fighters from the 90's clashes around and in Mogadishu have said they've done the same thing. It's just how I am. If I had to, though, I'd kill them. Heh, the children idea brought a scene from Tropic Thunder to my mind.[hide=]Ben Stiller says he can stop the Vietnamese, since he understands them, then runs back screaming "I was wrong!". Everyone's shooting at him, and a child he called "his son" is stabbing him in the shoulder.[/hide] catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
August 27, 200817 yr I don't think we're considering the case when a chick is aiming an RPG at you, guys. Thank you for defining it, thanks for the valid points, but I hope that you're not using the proper belief that "fighting back when some crazy [wagon] [bleep] is about to kill you is justified" as an argument for total gender equality in the case of chivalry. Just clarifying, if you don't mind. August 27, 200817 yr I think it might have something to do with the way it was before. A long time ago... *sets up a really old video on an old video player which has the video black and white and with stereotype old movie effects* Back in the days, a man used to beat a woman because she didn't do what he told her to do. Because of the large amount of people in the rural communities or in a labour-based workforce and the fashion of woman being housewives and not doing any lifting at all, men easily overthrew women. They didn't kill them, they just beat them, slapped them, punched them for no good reason at all. Since it's become modern times, we realize that that seems wrong, and that's why it's seen as bad to hit a woman. THE END *video dies out*
August 28, 200817 yr That's like asking "Why is it when a man is with tons of good looking girls, he's cool - but when a girl is with tons of good looking guys is viewed as a [bleep]?" It's a simple double-standard of society. Face it. We're all slightly sexist. Most of us in the males favor. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. August 28, 200817 yr I don't want to start a war, but I just hate how women want equal right yet claim to be weaker than men. A lot of women (especially feminists) pull this card all the time on guys at my school. It makes it even worse that guys get laughed at when a girl beats them up but girls become empowered when they are (accidently) tripped in a hallway. YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!

A lot of women (especially feminists) pull this card all the time on guys at my school. It makes it even worse that guys get laughed at when a girl beats them up but girls become empowered when they are (accidently) tripped in a hallway. Actually women are physically weaker than men (Read my earlier post), but I think we are emotionally stronger. I definitely think we can win arguments better :D Again we're bringing equality up. Equality has nothing to do with hurting each other, it's to do with a persons rights in society, such as the right to vote, the right get get equal pay, etc. Do you realize that in the UK women on average get paid less for doing exactly the same job as the men? The trouble is the real issues regarding equality men haven't a clue about as it doesn't effect them. I do know a lot of men have problems with having a female boss, and that's something they just gotta get over. Back on topic now, is it wrong for a man to hit a woman? Now lets clear things up, people have stated No, not if she's coming at you with a knife or we're in a war situation (We do have female soldiers you know). But I don't think the original poster was referring to these situations, you get a lot of drunken violence in the evenings in clubs and pubs, and NO it's not ok to hit ANYONE, regardless if it's a girl or a guy. There is something nobody has mentioned yet that happened to my friend. Domestic violence. Her husband was using physical and emotional tactics to hurt her and keep her in check. She went from being a very out going, happy bubbly girl to a complete introvert. If she ever spoke up he would beat up on her, he kept calling her fat when in fact she was very skinny reducing her self esteem to nothing. it took her 2 years to admit to anyone this was going on and to get out of the relationship. Please don't say "She could have walked away anytime" because it's not like that. This is wrong, It's a classic case where a man could use his strength over a woman. I know it happens the other way around and that too is totally unacceptable, but it's more common that men are more violent, admit it, it's in your hormones! Talking of hormones, I brushed on that subject earlier. We don't realize how much they play in our everyday life! Men are fueled by Testosterone (Androgens), these are responsible for amongst other things, muscle mass, Libido and aggression. Men get a constant stream of these all the time, so you're used to it and can usually control yourselves. Women on the other hand do have testosterone produced in the body but only a fraction of that of men, if we didn't have any testosterone we would have no libido at all! But generally the estrogen keeps the testosterone in check, except for that annoying part in the month where estrogen levels drop causing an imbalance and our emotional levels go crazy. And no it's not just because we're a moody bunch, we simply can't help it :P. The other thing is, we get more horny when we drink alcohol, and that's because alcohol has a sort of dampening effect on our estrogen levels allowing testosterone to do it's stuff, that plus the general effect of alcohol is a crazy combination. Lets face it, you guys are better at dealing with testosterone than we are, and women are drinking to excess much more which may account for the rise in violent girls in pubs we're seeing these days. [Assist-X]

Lets face it, you guys are better at dealing with testosterone than we are, and women are drinking to excess much more which may account for the rise in violent girls in pubs we're seeing these days.[/hide] I agree with your reasoning on testosterone and alcohol, but you also contradicted yourself there. You say that you consider women emotionally stronger, yet you turn around and say that your emotions go out of whack when you drink alcohol/that certain time of the month? To me that makes no sense. I don't think that you can claim that those are physical factors that lead to the shift in emotions, because in the end, it's still a much more dramatic shift than what men experience. I think that I need to change my previous post a bit. I hit guys more often, and a woman/girl very little. Why? I'd say it's because of society's impact on me. I don't want to be viewed as something negative, so I won't do things that get negative views attributed to me. Also, I'm not real good friends with many girls/woman, so I don't find myself in a situation where I would hit one (As in a friendly punch. The best way to describe it would be brotherly). Still, I think my previous statement stands. I will hit a male or female, and in the exact same situation, I would try to achieve the same effect. If it's intimidation, I may only threaten a female where I would punch a male, but I think they would achieve the same effect, so they are equal in my view. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience.

August 28, 200817 yr It's wrong!? Oh darn... :ohnoes: Anyways, back on topic, genetically women are weaker than men so it's seen as cowardly to hit a woman. I honestly can't label the exact reason why you don't hit women, but I guess it's just drilled into (almost) every boy from a very young age that they shouldn't, and so whether we have listable reasons or not to back it up we just... don't. Thanks to Quarra for the awesome sig!Xbox360 Gamertag = Tintin113
August 29, 200817 yr Once, in middle school, a girl punched me. I swiftly returned the favor. I got three days OSS and she got off scott free. Minorities don't REALLY want equal rights. They want perks and equal pay. If a man walked up to you and heavily insulted you unprovoked, you might punch him. If you did no big deal. If a woman does the same and you punch her, you're a sexist pig with no morals and you should be ashamed of yourself.
August 29, 200817 yr Just to clarify one thing.... If a psycho girl started running after me with a bloody knife.. and a dismembered hand. in real life. I would hide. :ohnoes: I'm amazed at the display of bravery here. but... if someone idiot started going crazy... the last thing I would do is pick up a rusty steel pipe and fight back. unless of course they had the cheese. 8-) of course, I'm a girl... so I might see a crazy girl going around killing people in a different light.... I'm sure that males probably think she's hot or something. #-o
