Evil_Sabre
I've got a little tiburon I like to run, but it doesn't have much under the hood....I don't really race for big money, it's just kind of a group of friends. But sometimes I go to watch the races in St. Louis with some friends.....they put up some huge money, bad [wagon] cars too.
wild_goat_14
Need For Speed: Most Wanted That game was soo [bleep] fun tbh. Towards the end of the game it got difficult, I mean getting 10 million bounty for Razor, that was next to impossible Yeah, i'm on my third time beating it. It was the first one I ever played, so the rest seem awful. And to get your bounty, just go around the main highway again and again at heat level 5, and 1 million bounty per chase comes easily. Get away via baseball field once the 25 cops have been worn out. that game perfectly summed up this topic. at least in my opinion. :P LOL. I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.
deloriagod
Seriously, you floor the gas and try to get to the finish first. That's about it... ... Have you ever actually driven a car? And no, your 12 hours of experience in Mario Kart don't count. Yes I have driven a car and DO own a license. Now please, enlighten me as to the complicity of street racing. I'd really like to know. EDIT: Since it's been almost 20 minutes without a reply, I'll just assume those were petty insults coming from those who don't have a clue of what they were trying to prove. Sorry I actually have things to do  Anyways, I'd love to see you race. You opponent would be doing a quarter mile in less than 8 seconds, and you'd have your foot to the floor. Wow, bet you don't go any faster than 40-50mph tops. Or if you do know to shift, let me know how shifting with the gas pedal to the floor goes. Internet Marketing For Newbies

mrpez
a friend of mine used to street race for pink slips and cash. eventually he won several expensive cars and many thousands of dollars. unfortunately, all that is gone. damn the government. although there are a few people, like my friend, that actually race for money/pink slips, most kids where i live are posers. i live in southern california and many kids here think they are racers and buy stick shift cars to look badass. Bloodstain
Illegal. Wow... exactly my thought. Anyways, Street racing is dangerous, not only to unaware pedestrians, but also to the rest of civilians driving, and yourself. Also if the Police catch you, you'll go to jail. Maybe if the sectioned off the road it would be better, but they don't. At least the real street racing. :wall: The circuit I plan to participate in is on a track about 35 miles from my house, it's on a closed course. There are also those who race illegally like that, and it is a big part of the community, but I don't plan on participating in it. By street racing, I meant more of the custom foreign cars scene How the hell is it street racing if it's on a closed course? Street racing is just plain stupid, and you must be really f'ing selfish or just down right stupid to risk OTHER people's lives doing
Lenticular_J
Yeah, I don't really believe in street racing where you're flying down a road filled with other drivers. That's stupid, so many street racers are morons with fancy cars who can't drive for [cabbage] and end up getting killed or killing other people. That being said, I love racing. If I could race around on the streets (not my town's, I'd catch air every four feet) without other people being around or racing just another person, that would be fun. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Star_Fox
that game perfectly summed up this topic. at least in my opinion. :P LOL. one of the most ironic traits is to laugh at a users post when they can't even elaborate. Yeah, I don't really believe in street racing where you're flying down a road filled with other drivers. That's stupid, so many street racers are morons with fancy cars who can't drive for [cabbage] and end up getting killed or killing other people. most of it takes place either in a deserted highway or places where gatherings usually occurs. never would it make sence if racing was held in a busy road. that'll be reckless . i watched some street racing on TV and most of the drivers were pretty good. ____
Since the OP fails to mention the 'street racing' refered to means 'closed circuit track' I can see how a lot of people read that then posted random crap about it being illegal. Personally I have no problem with people who have cars specifically for driving at a track, power to them for doing something they enjoy. As for the illegal kind... no sympathy if you get caught by the police. Good thing to know the OP isn't involved in that.

Also, most of the cars are Japanese with high modification. Along with the closed course races, they do sprints on deserted highways, etc.

It takes skill, it takes concentration, and it also takes practice. A stock car won't win you anything, you have to put hours into your car and tune it to your driving styles. Just because you can drive down the State highway and shift decently, you won't stand a chance against experienced racers. I think you're just using that excuse "you still haven't answered my question" to veil your arrogance and ignorance.

Actually I just went to school.. Street racing has the same challenges as any other type of racing, and is made more difficult by the presence of additional obstacles (e.g. people) and the risk of getting caught. It takes skill and talent in judging turns, watching out for obstacles, and shifting gears smoothly at (generally) very high speeds. Not to mention that it's almost always performed at night. If you think it is simply "flooring the gas", then you may as well say the same thing about other forms of racing, which, of course, would make you an idiot. EDIT: Since it's been almost 6 minutes without a reply, I'll just assume that you admitted defeat. Cool.

evil_mumm_ra
i raced my friend from work once when i was 17, we were going like 70-80mph in a 45mph zone >.> it was midnight and no one was around. it was fun. i wouldn't do it professionally or anything though, cause i don't like it that much, i like speed for fun, not for any kind of profit, my car also sucks though. i don't ever really plan on doing any kind of real racing though, that was just a fun one time thing 2 years ago. i normally just used to speed by myself on the highway in mississippi. DaN
We have a thing called the Cannon Ball run in Australia that runs between Alice Springs and Darwin, there is no speed limit on those roads. I've heard a few stories of people hitting Roos at high speed and getting wiped out. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing a street racer smash into a power poll and take themselves out. More often than not it's a kid driving what they think is a fast car. I had one the other day trying to race me, I was driving away from the lights at normal speed and some P-plater was blowing up his little piece of crap trying to race me from the line. ~Dan64AuSince 27 Aug 2002
Tribal
I was driving home from my Shop today in my M5 and some I guess 17 year old kid pulls up next to me in what I'm assuming is a stock 08' Chevy Cobalt, which come with what, 120 or so HP. Gas is too expensive to race the M5 all the time (18 MPG HW or 12 otherwise), plus i'd rather not wreck an expensive car so he's next to me reving his engince looking at me, inching up, rolling back and forth I guess to signal to me he had a stick shift. So I decided to have a little fun with him, I started reving my engine back, granted my car has 500 HP to his 120-140 so I could easily wreck him. So the light turns green, he takes off barely accelerating, and it was clear he had no idea how to shift. So I sit there for a second, then he got a few feet ahead, probably third gear, so I take off and wave as I blow past him. We get to the next stop light he signals me to roll down my window, so I do and he says "I was kidding, lets go again and you go for real this time" So my reaction to him is "Are you serious?" He says "Yeah lets go" light turns green, off I go, I hit about 135 and he dipped out at about 90 I'd say, But he hit 90 WAY after I was over 100 and at the next light I just kept going, I pulled over in WaWa and he pulled over started talking to me, he was actually a pretty cool kid, he just needs to learn stock Chevy Cobalts don't compare to anything I'd say. But it was the first time I'd really opened my car up since I bought it. Was fun.

Funny you should mention that.. I own a 4.2TD Maverick, which isn't exactly fast off the line, and was challenged by some P-Plater in his [cabbage]box Excel. I was tempted to jump the light and see how he reacts to me cutting him off.. taking in mind my Maverick is like a 2t vehicle compared to his 400kg or whatever

Kriegsmier
Meh. IRL ain't no Fast and the Furious kids. Street racing is like playing russin roulette. I enjoy seeing kids thinking they are hot stuff in their little souped up hot wheels cereal box car getting caught by the cops. It makes my day.
