imbackstinkers
okay were influenced by things and people every day no matter how much we deny it the things people do affect what we do, okay suppose your friend likes this girl who's sitting with her friends at a table and your friend decides to sit down at the table next to hers, wouldn't you go and sit down with your friend? do you think it's the same with satan and sin? or is satan just a made up being for us humans to make excuses for out behaviour do you think that humans sin because of satan?, think of eve eating the forbidden fruit, or is satan an excuse we make for our sins
thrash-boy
i don't really understand your question. I understand the friend at a table bit, but not the Satan and sin question. anyway, Satan is just a made up being.
justin_m23
Are you saying that sin is a sinners friend, and they will follow sin to the table of the devil? Further clarification is probably needed.

Intriguing
It depends on your definition of sin. In my opinion, there is no distinct set of action that are "sinful". Whether or not one's actions are right are wrong depends on the context, both culturally, and within the situation. To be honest, I have yet to find an action that is wrong no matter the context. As you could probably expect, I do not believe in Satan. Cool.

warri0r45
I don't believe in satan. It seems to me that it's a concept made up to use as a scapegoat for what's considered morally wrong, i.e. sinful. Sin in this context meaning something seen as socially wrong or taboo. Nenga
It depends on your views. If satan is made up, then there is no sin, just moral and ethical dilemmas. Also if satan is made up, satan and god kinda go hand and hand... Sin is used when you make a religious mistake. I think as humans we try to make the first excuse we can for our screw ups, it's just the way we are. P.S. Just to be clear I'm not saying anything god doesn't exist, it's just a 'what if' thing. Da_Latios
I don't believe in God. I don't believe in Satan. Yes, I capitalise the first letter in the names; that is because they are names. I believe what we do is predestined. I do not believe we have a choice in what we do. Death is just the stopping of a heartbeat. Nothing big. People in history have placed so much magical weight on life and death, when in reality it is no big deal when someone dies. Since there has been a magical reference to life in the past, many beliefs, books and the like have been produced. One of the byproducts is religion. Good and evil also; I do not believe there is "good" and "evil", nor is there "right" or "wrong". What's good, or right, for someone is wrong, or evil, for another. Take for example the holocaust; in the eyes of the Nazis, and most of the German population, it was a good thing. It was right. To most of the outside world, it was evil, inhumane... wrong. No choice. No magical properties. No right. No wrong. Only observation... and opinions. Gravy
Pretty much agree with Da_Latios. Though a predestined outcome is not what I believe. Satan & Sin are just characters of an imagination to me, created in everyone's subconcious to persuade them to do good. I believe it's like that to try & keep us safe & happy. Though it usually fails. ... If that makes sense to you. O:) Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp. D Jay99
To be honest, I have yet to find an action that is wrong no matter the context. Pedophilia? 19 year old boy, 16 old girl. I'd say that's pedophilia, but is it wrong? I don't think so. There are no such things as sins. Da Latios described it very well. Most things are just considered sins my mankind, but who told us that? I believe Satan is made up, probably to get people to obey. Otherwise 'Satan will come to get them'. BlueLancer
To be honest, I have yet to find an action that is wrong no matter the context. Pedophilia? 19 year old boy, 16 old girl. I'd say that's pedophilia, but is it wrong? I don't think so. A pedophile is like a 30-40+ year old trying to get it on with an innocent 5-8 year old. In the scenario you mentioned, I wouldn't even mind, if it was my own daughter. The age difference isn't that big (3 years).. They are mentally nearly at the same level. You follow politics? Palin's daughter is 17 but her boyfriend is 18 soon 19, and they're having a kid. That's not really something most people would condemn. I think you're misunderstanding the world pedophile. It's the kind of person that deserves worse than the death penalty if that would be at all possible.
reaper88888
How is my cat a made up being that people use to excuse their behavior? Or were you talking about that nonexistent antihero? Religion, and popular religous figures, are just one more category of excuse that people use when they try to get away with nasty ol' things like genocide and oppression. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

Perakp
If there is no satan, no sin, no right and wrong, no good and evil, is there anything we couldn't do? What stops us from doing immoral and/or unethical things to each other and then just suicide or run&hide to escape the consequences. Religions have been a genius invention to keep the masses under control, and now that people are starting to think on their own, who knows what could happen. Religions have been a genius invention to keep the masses under control, and now that people are starting to think on their own, who knows what could happen. Religion may have been a good idea on its own, but they crossed over into government and controls people basically. Lets take for example Obama. He runs for president. The first question out is: "What's his religion?!" In Iraq it's all about religion. Even the U.S. got attacked in the name of 'Allah'. I think people have every right to think on their own. It's, just 75% of the population is too stupid to do it. I'm not sure how many people are in congress but I'd bet we don't even have 100 people making the decisions for the whole damn country. So don't worry about people thinking on their own. Good chances are they won't start. P.S. The reason I split your post into two parts is I wanted to answer your questions separately. Ponies! RichieMcD
I do not believe in any of the whole "Satan and Sin" thought as Sins are often way to strict to be considered in modern life and I think Satan and Hell is Christianity's way of scaring people into believing. I instead believe what is morally right and wrong, they often lye on the same principals but there are so many stupid Sins it's unbelievable. I'll never agree with murder, but I'll let someone choose their own religion, lifestyle, sexuality etc, which often comes down to being a "sin" :| Anyway for your question: okay suppose your friend likes this girl who's sitting with her friends at a table and your friend decides to sit down at the table next to hers, wouldn't you go and sit down with your friend? I'd go over and try and get in with any of her hot friends, if she has no hot friends I'd go over and just make friends.

God, I hate people with this view. CATHOLICISM. AND THEY HARDLY EVEN DO THIS. Jesus Christ, learn something about religion. I don't believe in the typical concept of sin, but things like confession are a good thing (Free psychiatrist, basically). I believe in Satan, but not Hell. I believe Satan's what causes that bad in the world, but I don't believe in him as a sort of, you know, devil. I see him as a competitor with God, whose views are very different. Megatron versus Optimus, if you will. Sin...Eh, I don't think God would really care. He made things like that for a reason, and gave us the ability to use it, eh? catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
