I'll let simple math make my arguement...

 

 

 

Fire Cape + Dark RFD Gloves + Dragon Boots + Black Scimitar give:

 

32 Slash and 34 Strength bonuses

 

 

 

Salve (e) adds 20%, making them 38.4 Slash and 40.8 Strength

 

 

 

Fury adds +10 Slash and +8 Strength, making them 42 Slash and 42 Strength

 

 

 

Fury also provides +5 prayer while the Salve (e) only provides +3, but this is less important.

 

 

 

Ergo, use Fury instead of Salve (e).

 

While 20% would dominate with a whip or godsword, the black scimmy is just too weak to get it's imbalanced effect...

I think Salve would affect you with a boosted level, not the bonuses given to your equipment.

I believe you are misinformed and that the 20% attack and strength bonuses work as I depicted. However, I am not sure enough to call your statement wrong.

 

 

 

Can anyone confirm Salve's effects one way or the other?

It's definately a boost to your stats, similar to defensive boosts. You still get the effect even if all of your bonuses are 0. Go try punching a ghost with and without the amulet.

It actually effects neither stats nor bonuses. It's a hidden value, just like the hidden value for Void. Here is an example:

 

 

 

When you hit a monster, the computer flips a coin. You either hit, or dont hit. The % that the coin lands on "hit" is calculated by your attack level + attack bonuses - opponents defence level - opponents defence bonuses for the style attack you used (if your are using melee). So the higher your attack level and attack bonuses, the higher chance it will land on the "hit" side of the coin. Now what the amulet does is, say you have a 50% chance to "hit" the monster, based on all levels and bonuses, the amulet will increase that to a 70% chance the computer will select "hit". We dont know the exact formula they use to calculate the hit % based on attack level and armor bonuses, and nobody can calim to unless they work at Jagex Ltd.

 

 

 

Now the str works in the similar way. Your str level and bonuses are added and put in a "bracket", so if you have A# of str "points" you are given a value between 1-some number. All the amulet does is multiplies this final value by .20 or 20%.

 

 

 

So it is a hidden value, not directly effected by attack level or level bonuses, but they do effect eachother indirectly. Void works in the same exact way.

 

 

 

Edit: In reference to post below, I forgot to add in opponents defence, so added that in as well.

 

Also Note: the "attack bonuses" selected would depend on the style of the weapon your are using. For example the attack bonuses on a dds while using the "stab" attack would come from the "stab attack bonus" on your equipment menu. Thus, the opponents "stab defence bonus" would also be added into the equation.

I don't think that it can have any more weaknesses actually seeing as a black scimitar hits pretty reliably on it. A whip would tear through this thing.

So, what do you guys think the droprate is on elixir and spirit shields? I'm hearing 1/450 for elixir and 1/100 for shields, but I think people tend to say things are more common than they are.

Black items that don't work:

 

Black Helm (h1-h5)

 

Black Salamander (would easily have been the fastest way to kill it if it could have been used)

 

Black Crossbow

 

Black D'Hide

 

 

 

Every single black item that is not metal is unusable (minus vambs and stuff, obviously).

 

I would ASSUME that Black (g), black (t), and black kites (h1-h5) don't work. But I can't confirm it, and I don't feel like wasting the money to confirm it.

 

I would also assume that black defender doesn't work, considering I've never seen anyone use it and I think someone earlier in this post said that it doesn't work.

 

 

 

When it came to 99 range versus 99 att + str, in the best gears (black knives vs black scim + salve ammy (e)) it ended up being pretty much equal. Maybe I would have done better with a zerker ring instead of a warrior, but idk. Part of me doubts it.

 

 

 

The 99 ranger was in black legs, chain, med, kite, ranger boots, etc. Dunno if he used an archer ring cause I didn't ask. I would assume it cause of the ranger boots, though.

 

 

 

This place is wildly camped though. Don't even think about trying to go there without a team in ls or without 99 att+str or range.

 

 

 

And its a good source of blues and crimsons, thats for sure. Drops will pay off the ppots easily, especially pray flicking.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

 

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system
