Finally, we'd like to let you in on a little secret we're currently working on our highest level, longest, most exciting quest ever. Not necessarily for launch in '08 (it's not something we want to rush, after all), its already had more development time than the entirety of "Recipe for Disaster"... but youll have to wait to find out more. We're adding secret hints and references all the time about this one, so if you need to know more, just look around! Leave no stone unturned....

 

 

 

So some of us have done the new quest and the ones that have might have fought the new corporal beast. For those that don't know, this new monster is EXTREMELY powerful, and along with it being powerful, it smashed the HP cap which was 250 before held by a number of creatures and turned the new ?cap? into 2,000. I put question marks around cap because Jagex might be able to cross the cap into a new high hp amount.

 

 

 

To add discussion value:

 

Do you think the new quest Jagex is cooking up has a monster as powerful or more powerful then the beast?

 

The beast is powerful but multi-combat so it's manageable, how will the new quest be? Will it allow players to do it together to defeat a powerful creature using multi-combat areas?

 

With this new 2,000 cap will they change players ability to cross the 99 HP mark or will they just allow monsters to 2-hit us?

First: The spirit beast isn't in the real world isn't really part of the quest, really an add on afterward.

 

Second:I think it will combine hard puzzles (MEP2) with some hard boss fights (RFD to a degree) so maybe the bosses may not be as hard but the quest as a whole will be.

 

I know that it's not part of the quest, that's why I said that the ones that have done the quest may have fought it.

Cool. Hard bosses. Sure It'll piss me off to no end when I can't kill one but still.. We need harder monsters.

 

 

 

Now I don't think the new quest needs a monster like the Corporeal, but I think it should have some solo boss to make it some real achievement. Up until the corporeal the hardest solo boss was probably Commander Zil, Maybe we need something along the lines of the power of a GWD boss or higher in a quest.

 

 

 

And as to the 99 hp, no, they won't increase a player HP cap.. Being able to get 2 hit is just another risk to take to get to your rewards.

the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming.

You know when people say that jagex can't release new uber weapons because we only have 99 hitpoints, and will never have any more, that's actually a silly flaw in logic. While hitpoints can't change, armor on the other hand, can improve, making it so that you get hit less, hence you can introduce those uber weapons

 

Same principle, the monsters wont 2 hit us because our armor will become better overtime.

You know when people say that jagex can't release new uber weapons because we only have 99 hitpoints, and will never have any more, that's actually a silly flaw in logic. While hitpoints can't change, armor on the other hand, can improve, making it so that you get hit less, hence you can introduce those uber weapons

 

Same principle, the monsters wont 2 hit us because our armor will become better overtime.

Except the fact that the corporeal beast pretty much ignores armor... And what we have is tougher monsters. Not smarter. Just tougher. Bigger, stronger, with more hp and special abilities, but still capable of being soloed. This one is the first that will probably NEVER be soloed, but the tactics for this one seem pretty simple so far: Take a weapon. Take two pieces of armor. Get twenty warm bodies. Send said bodies in to be two hit until beastie eventually collapses from hp loss. Or exhaustion.
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

 

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

Also Jagex states on website that armor reduces chance of being hit, not the actual hit. So even if they release better armor is won't stop people from getting lucky (which is basically what the RS combat is about!!!) and one hitting people if they release better weapons and such without raising the hp cap.

 

 

 

Or they could rework defense and make it more useful so it actually reduces max hit or something along those lines which in turn would make attack much more useful because you need to make sure you are hitting as often as possible.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

They're already going in the direction of damage reducing armor with the new shields, I don't see it as being out of the question.

I totally agree that they are taking steps with the shields but those shields are quite rare and pricey (although that will obviously change), have some decent requirements, and are unlikely to be risked in the wilderness.

 

 

 

But ya, the shields are a step in the right direction.

I was responding to him that no, jagex won't raise HP, they will just create better armour. Just like they did now. About the armor ignoring thing: as long as it doesn't have huge KO power (haven't seen it personally) it's not a problem.

It can, normally, hit up to 66. This means that it can two hit anyone. I've heard that it has a special attack that hits in the seventies, though.

Agreed. This is an online game. There should definitely be a monster so hard that it pisses everyone off. :)

that just means jagex is actually going to make an attempt, yes attempt, at making a semi hard quest...no quest is hard...there is no reason the believe this one will be haha

Firstly, the cap was 255. Secondly, they broke the cap earlier with Bork(300hp) and summoning familiars(up to 750 hp(steel titan)).

 

 

 

I'd like some decent monster battles in upcoming quests, I can name semi-difficult quest monsters on one hand.

You're insane! :D

 

 

 

Anywho, monsters have been able to 2-hit us for ages. DKs can pretty much instakill you if you're attacked by all three, most dragons will fry anyone without a dragonshield, Graar hits 60s with melee while the other GWD bosses will get you down faster. What makes the corp so hard is it's insane accuracy, defence and HP stats. I don't like speculating about new monsters but I doubt they'll raise the hp cap for one. I'm v excited about the quest though, sounds amazing!

You never know. They might put in so many random elements into the quest (where each player has to do different actions) that writing guides will be impossible, or they could go insane on the requirements, or various things like that.

 

Anyway, I'm assuming that you either never have completed a quest classified as 'hard' with no hints or guides, or are just plain arrogant. Or both, whatever suits you.
