Ive trained extensively with sara sword, d scim, whip, obby sword, godswords and whip comes out on top everytime.

I'd rather use a whip.

They are junk, only get one if you have extra cash to spend. Godswords are one trick ponys and are NOT worth the cash people pay for them (this is my opinion). For the price of a bandos noobsword you could have 2.5 million prayer exp.

 

 

 

Sure they hit hard, but they are slow as hell. The lame speed really comes into play at the END of a monsters life. For example, if you hit 50, then 35 on a monster it will only have a few HPs left, the extra power you have using a godsword is wasted at that point, you are better off with a faster weapon. The whip his for a few less damage, you get a shield and its faster.

 

 

 

And the spec is really just a toy anyway, i have used all the godswords for slayer tasks, every time i hate them. Its like, "wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, wham 0, wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, wham 37." I feel like a noob every time.

 

 

 

Save your money, buy a rune scim and alc it, atleast you will get 65 magic exp. If you get a godsword you either have cash to burn, or are one of those noobs who cry about the price going down every couple of days.

Go fight bandos with a whip then a godsword and come back ;)

For every 3 hits with the whip, you hit 2 hits with the godsword.

 

Whip is best for training, and godsword is best for hunting high defence monsters and pvp like the others said. If you have 20mil to spend, I'd suggest buying a dfs and some summoning levels instead of a godsword.

high def - gs, includes pvp and bosses.

Godswords are trash. They're incredibly over-rated and over-priced. The dds beats the ags in almost every case in terms of special attack.

 

The bgs' special is nearly useless. The boss monsters have such high defence anyway it doesn't make a dent unless you hit 50+.

 

The sgs is relatively useful. With 40 special attacks per hour, it can heal a minimum of (if you hit) 400 hp and 200 prayer points which is equivalent to 20 sharks and 8.3 doses of prayer potion (at 70 prayer) per hour. Which is not bad, but is only really useful if you don't have a bunyip or you're praying continuously for 2+ hours.

 

The zgs is probably the most useful godsword there is, or at least the most useful to me. Frezzing against armadyl is a great asset in castlewars. It's a zamorak item which help for gwd. It can freeze people in FoG even if you are hunted.

 

The reason I'm picking at their special attacks, is because without them, they are trash. They are slower than a whip, which means it takes longer to kill something when it's at low hp. More xp per hour is possible with a whip and whips are cheaper. In pvp I'd pick a whip and dds over an ags or anything else any day.

The whip can do more damage in the same amount of time as a godsword. The godsword, however, is much more accurate and has a massive prayer bonus, which makes it ideal for monster hunting. As a general purpose weapon, however, the whip is better.

 

 

 

 

And for that reason the whip is better than the godsword for training. Speed beats power :

 

 

 

By your logic a dart-speed weapon that can do 5 damage is superior to a whip-speed weapon that can do 50.

 

 

 

Honestly, I don't know why people even consider speed and power to be two different factors, except in certain cases like PvP. It's much easier to just group them together.

Buying a gs doesn't lose you money, it merely converts it to a new form... Like converting euros to dollars. Might not be a good idea depending by the market, but if gs's aren't falling any time soon, buy both, use a whip and keep gs for special :?:

BGS is only good for Pvp or GWD so don't get one if you play on Mvp. Godswords are basically something that is just fun to have. I use my SGS for training defence/slayer now and it's faster than my dfs+whip because I don't use guthans nearly as much and I hit higher than my whip. So godswords are good you just need to try one.

This is not true. It cannot freeze them(although it does hit very accurate).

 

 

 

 

 

And the armadyl godsword is much more accurate, beating the dds.

I disagree. Whip is definitely the best training weapon unless you have something wrong with your brain and decided to train on general graardor or something...don't say you disagree without stating any reasons or everyone will know that you are just a nubcake.

 

 

 

whip is much better for training as most people train on low defense creatures and in this situation speed is of greater importance than power...IMO sara gs is lousier than whip for training too...even if you have a sara gs you should use whip most of the time and only use sara gs for spec when you need to heal or recharge prayer...even then the spec lost could be put to better use at times such as using halberd against greater demons where i've frequently hit over 50 in a spec or dds against lower defense creatures such as aberrant specters...if you want to heal just use food or something >.>

I've bought godswords 4 times and each I've never kept it for over 1 month. They're really bad unless you go to Boss monsters VERY often. Even then, it is usually more efficient with whip + dfs.

A side note: I come *came* from a game where consistancy is treasured.

 

 

 

You have a whip that has high strength, fast speed, and offers the opportunity for a shield, more often, a defender. Then you have a godsword that is much stronger, but also much slower and does not offer a shield. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but if you've tested the consistancy of both weapons, it's no surprise that a whip is more consistant because A it can attack faster and gives more attacks/minute and B it has a lower strength bonus, limiting the damage done. Unfortunately godswords do not offer this; they have better attack bonuses as well, true, but because of their speed, you may not get enough hits in (unless you're ready to attack, spec, and hope for the best). IF you're PvPing for example *just think safe, like FFA clan wars* where you have a maxed whipper against a maxed godsword-user with the same or no armor, and take out the specials, the whipper may win. The special attacks sometimes gives the price tag for the weapons. Think dragon claws?

 

 

 

^ I don't agree withthe above post. Just because a godsword does not offer a shield doesn't mean that people with high defenses use them. (Just a note, someone earlier today posted on the SS thread in general topic, selling sgs to buy full bandos, dfs, whip and some other gears) My defense is meh, and I just take the whip for the speed.

Even 99 defence doesn't mean you no longer need a shield. Besides, the whip + defender gives faster exp than a godsword at any defence level.

Basically you can't really compare them since they're used in different situations, although for most people's daily activities the whip is probably better.

I used whip at bandos with a group of 3 godswords and I got about 40% of the kills out of a group of 6, whip works fine at bandos.
