Anyone still go on it here? Im thinking bout making mass amounts of GIMP brushes. Cant do it without my friends on DA, so Im asking if I should bother returning if anyone still hangs out here.

I don't know what it is, but personally I've found myself visit dA a lot less nowadays. I guess I'm just tired of reading the same one word comments and seeing the same kind of art again and again. Don't get me wrong, it's a great site with some great people, but it's just all so... huge, and feels kind of 'unpersonal', if that makes any sense. I'd much rather get some real C/C from a few nice people I know, than slightly more attention from people I haven't seen before and probably will never see again either.

Bleh, boring post, I'm only talking about myself.

I go to it every once in a while.

Usually to get tutorials or brushes.

Sometimes I just like seeing the top rated stuff to see how much I suck compared to them.

I agree with Jopie.

I don't really expect anything out of dA, I use it more as a place to hold all my paintings so I don't have to look for them. The community is nice, but more bent on ego boosting than actual critique (the main thing at least, dunno about the forums).

I still visit it fairly often to check if the people I'm watching made new stuff.

I still go there, just not my homepage.

I use it, but for tutorials and brushes only.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I still spend most of my internet time in there.

I agree with Jopie, but the community is still awesome and the art quality is great too. I have my subscription and so. <3:

I think of it as a place to keep up with what art the others are doing. Haven't had time lately to make anything myself. :(

Also is where I get all mah C4Ds. It's not as good on tutorials as I'd like to think.

Im very motivated to promote my work, and I like to post at their Photography forums full of great (and smart) people.

Its a great place, well worth a 1 year sub if you ask me.

I use it all the time, it's a great place to post my work and get help from the great artists that are on there. The more you put in the more you get out with DeviantART.

Really, I only go on it to check out some FanArt (and half are usually lame) but man, the photo's on there are really good. I usually skim through the 'popular' section and check them out. I have an account but I haven't submitted anything serious on there.

Also, you can find some really detailed tutorials on there.

I think its time has passed. Its just too big a site, theres not really a community and peopel just see it as way too commercial.I think that these more intimate and specialised communitys who share a passion for what there doing, inspire each other and ultimatly get better are what people will switch to.DA it just seems that a lot of the stuff is ripped or your always hearing of these mass porn spams and i just think the featured stuff just isnt as interesting.

I used to be real active in it, haven't posted anything in years now though.

One thing that seriously bothers me is all the 'Cosplay' thats happening over there.

All of these no lifers dress up like 'Riku' and who knows what (the only name I can remember) and they post their [cabbage] at the Photography section.

Its just very annoying to see those uninspired photos getting 700+ favs, because he/she did something 'funny'.

Another thing that I dont like is the fact that once you become known, and I mean 'seriously' known, it doesnt matter what you post but you will get favs and fame anyway. Take a look at Karil's stuff, he is probably the most popular photographer because of the Cokin filters he uses. He gives his photos a cool color and everybody likes the colors.
