Therefore it leads me to believe it is the music people, but, I use generally the same band in all my videos... really confusing to be quite honest lol. Randox Posted November 4, 2008 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Way back before Jagex abolished customer support, I did send a querry to Jagex about videos of RuneScape and youtube. This was the only question they ever answered too. As long as your video does not promote any rule breaking, show people how to exploit glitches etc, Jagex will not ask youtube to remove them. Problem should be resolved in a day. You never buy a song, you buy the licence to use the song for personal use. I don't believe you when you say you have had videos put back on after saying you had the rights. Those of us that know how the DMCA works know you are bsing. I'm pretty sure that kind of thing doesn't happen all too often, most of the stuff on youtube has copyrighted music on it (in fact, sometimes I get annoyed when some videos have crappy songs on them instead of the actual audio... -.-). As for Jagex issuing takedown notices, I don't know what to make of it. Like scamming, hacking, private servers, etc. If I'm not mistaken, the fally massacre video is long gone as well due to copyright claims. I'll have to look it up later. Anyway, next time credit Jagex and the songwriter. At the end of the video or in the video description. This particular case seems more like the music copyright more than Jagex. You can only buy the right to listen to it, not distribute UNLESS you happen to be a radio station, music channel or a library. Then you can get the version that's distributing WITH LIMITS isn't prohibited. However, if the creator of the song has been dead for 70 years then the copyright claims are invalid and the music becomes free to distribute by anyone. There are also alot of bands that don't copyright their music so they are free to use on videos and such. And i do believe that covers are a gray zone. In theory you can make covers of songs if the artist specifically hasn't prohibited it but not sure how they would work on this matter. Or you can use their awesome library for free music. :D Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. I credit jagex and the songs on the end of the video, and add a 'jagex owns runescape' disclaimer in my video details. Some of our promo vid's were removed due to music but i'm not sure if they were pointed out in disclaimer. The only person who knows that is Xero at the moment.
