What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?

Picked up Starpoint Gemini 2 which was on sale yesterday. Still in early development, but I like the changes they've made from the first game. Only gripe so far is that with the 3d combat, enemy ships like to fly over me and it's a royal pain to try and keep the camera on them while maneouvering my ship so I have weapons pointed the right way. My guess is I need to assign a key for the chase cam and use that.

Also starting to play around with space engineers again.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Finally went for it. Kicking myself for deciding I didn't like the demo when it was new, but at least it's a fresh experience now.

@Randox: Is Space Engineers any good? I love the idea, but it doesn't seem like there's much to do.

Edit: Nvm. Game was fun until it started cheating.

Finally got internet in my home.

Updated me GT6.

Woah.

Like half a game is added.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

Started playing space engineers survival with a ship I built in creative. Things go so much slower in creative, but it allows me to build and use purpose built craft and machines, so there is more stuff to actually do and play with in a way. More content. Will be interesting to see where this goes. So far, I built a mining drone to replace my bulky manned mining ship I brought with me (wanted some facilities so I could skip the 'picking up rocks by hand' part of everything, that first few hours of pointless setup.

Ever played Astrox?  It seems to remind me of that, but I could be way off too.

Edit so I don't double post: survive 60 seconds.  I dare you.  http://www.kongregate.com/games/TerryCavanagh_B/hexagon?acomplete=hexag

  • 2 weeks later...

I got all the DLC for dark souls 2.

I maxed my levels.

I ran all the DLC on Ng+8.

Best game of the year, although I hated it for the first few weeks I had it.

Definitely, the toughest game of the bunch.

Studying Chinese made me wanna play Sleeping Dogs again.

Don't know a single game I've played so many times over.

Only game that could come close would be AoE 2.

You posting about Sleeping Dogs makes me want to play it again. But I have about eight hundred other games to finish at the moment.

I've been working a ton lately, so I haven't had much gaming time, but when I have, it's been SoulSilver, which I finally picked up. First Pokemon game was Silver, so this is that only better. Awesome.

i bought shadows of mordor, which is pretty much just assassin's creed and arkham series squished together and given a lotr coat of paint. but it's really good at being that, and i knew that was what i was going to get, so i'm not fussed. plus i only paid $30 for it which is great.

it leans more towards batman than ac on the difficulty spectrum, i've died a whole bunch of times and i'm only like 5 hours in. the nemesis system is good but can get kind of annoying when you somehow end up just randomly coming across three boss-level guys just hanging out when they're meant to be mortal foes or whatever. typical open world collectible shit but with some nice lore/flavour if you're into lotr, which i am. i'm glad the orcs aren't all grim terrible dudes, they took a pretty hefty cue from space marine in the kinda low-class british accent department, while still keeping a decent amount of seriousness.

i still love the combat system just as much as i did in the arkham games, they did a decent job keeping it easy to learn hard to master and all that. ranged attacks can get kind of obnoxious though, the prompts don't seem to show up consistently, leading to you getting beaned with an axe or spear or arrow from offscreen.

That does look kind of neat, though outside my price range right now. Also, I'm not entirely sure my PC currently meets the minimum requirements. I don't think my 6 core 2.9GHz processor has enough per core power to meet that.

Wasteland 2, Sid Meier's Alpha Centuri, FFXIII (PC) and Jade Empire were my latest aquisitions.

(Now only have to wait until Square Enix decides to release FFIV and FFVIII on Asian Steam....)

I bought a used PS3 a few weeks ago as an "upgrade" to my PS2 since the PS3 is backwards compatible.

Got the HD re-releases of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X since those were the games I played the most on PS2... and holy shit I can't believe the amount of grinding you have to do in order to get all the trophies for FFX. Fill and activate every single node on the sphere grid with every single character?! Jesus.

Oh man, the trophies in FFX are ridiculous. I told my brother when I bought it (Soon after release) that I'd platinum it. Got into it and then realised how crazy they really are. I don't even think it's worth it.

Well I've gotten all of them except those sphere grid ones. I was feeling pretty burnt out from how grindy the game felt by the time I had to kill Penance so I just Zanmoto'd him after I read that it's a 40 minute battle lol. I saved my game before I started Zanmoto'ing bosses in case I ever feel like sitting down and killing them the "legitimate" way though.

I came back to Rainbow Six 3, and I'm liking it better now that I've lowered the difficulty. I made the mistake of playing it on Veteran (Normal), and the enemy was pretty much aimbotting me to death unless I got lucky. Recruit is maybe a little too easy, but it's still tough enough that winning feels like an accomplishment.

I love that game. Took me a while to beat the first level, and forever to beat the second. Then I got older and better at games and I absolutely adore the villa level or whatever it is called (where it's just two of you). Not sure I ever beat it on anything other than easy mode though. Game is hard, and I have trouble with it now since I never play console anymore and can't aim with anything but a mouse.

Started playing some BO2 again this week. I haven't played "seriously" in about 2 and a half months. Thought i'd be terrible, but i actually did good right off the bat. Had a 32-2 game yesterday, with the enemy team only getting 25 kills total (iirc). It was kind of funny. Total massacre.

Got put into a game where someone on the enemy team was already 17 - 0 with a Vsat and Escort Drone in the air, i think their team had ~30 kills and mine had something pitiful like 10. Managed to put the team on my back, went 38 - 4 or something, pulled out the win. The guy that was 17 - 0 ended with 40 - 14 or something. He sent me the nastiest rage message i have ever received, haha.

Picked up Receiver on a whim. Not sure it's worth the whole $5, but it is a neat game. Was created in 7 days as part of the competition, and the game focuses on complete control of each part of your gun. Once you get the controls down, it's pretty neat. The game creates a new map randomly whenever you die (there is no saving), and you get one of 3 weapons with a random amount of ammo. You can get a 1911, a Glock (17?), or a Revolver. The revolver is easily the simplest of the weapons, though I hate it for being difficult to keep track of the number of shots you have left, and needing to use all of them before reloading it (or you'll waste ammo).

Your only enemies are stationary machine gun turrets and flying stun drones. Your objective is to find 13 cassette tapes without dying. Not an easy task.

Just started playing FFXIII on PC, while the frame rates are buggy (from what i have heard, it's a game engine problem) and problems with cutscenes rendering in different resolutions (could be in 1960x1080, then 320x240 in the next lol), i am surprised at how smoothly it runs for that kind of graphics...

feels like i have been missing out a lot between this and FFVI...

Started up Prison architect again for the first time in I think 6 updates. It has been...interesting.

My prison is about halfway to its maximum planned capacity, and the updates since I last played have forced some design changes I hadn't anticipated, so the prison will actually end up being larger. My prison actually made a very smooth transition, and then I looked at my finances and decided to get clever. I noticed that my very few high security prisoners were making me a lot of money (they bring in double), and I figured that if I dedicated one of the new wings of my prison (new prison building just built, about 40% complete with recent design changes) as high security and brought some more of those people in to supplement my healthy license plate money.

What I got was a legendary prisoner I am in no way equipped to deal with properly, and a lot of prisoners and a few guards have died because he starts a fight almost every day, and the only solution seems to be losing half my guards or opening fire. I choose to let the prisoners die, not my staff.

Once the prison is done I will have a super max wing that is isolated and can deal with this kind of prisoner.
