Da Pirates
As the title says. Personally I would have to say Van Halen's Eruption What do you guys think? Oh and in case you don't already know, Instrumental songs don't use vocals. BR BR BR? HUEHUEHEUEHUE
Kalphite
I know a ton of instrumental songs I really like. However, my favorite instrumental song is "Sail on Soothsayer (In Memory of Aunt Suzie 1932-2007)" by Buckethead. It's just so incredibly emotional...Everyone should hear it IMO. [hide=List of other Good Instrumentals]Rush - YYZ Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists to the Sky like Antennas to Heaven (album) Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid rain, Paradigm Shift Yngwie Malmsteen - Caprici Di Diablo Buckethead - Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot (album)[/hide]
mlskid
My personal favorite is probably Cannon in D major by Jerry C. It is amazing... and then in a close second, Buckethead's Jordan. I just love that solo, it's so insane! Summoning help:[hide=Wio, lol][/hide]
warri0r45
Voice of the Soul by Death comes immediately to mind. It's just so full of emotion and really shows the talent that Chuck Schuldiner had as a guitarist and composer. In fact, I wouldn't discount Cosmic Sea either (another Death instrumental). As far as instrumental albums goes, I really like Machinations of Dementia by Blotted Science. Stunning instrumentation.
GordanFreeman
The Edgar Winter Group's Frankenstein's really good. Kansas's The Wall is also one of my favorite instrumentals. But my favorite instrumental is Jessica, Allman Brothers Band. "El que no arriesga no gana"

How2PK
best, best. I don't know. I really like the gumbo variations by Zappa. But that's just jazz/fusion. There's so many other types of instrumental music and all of them have got so many good things that it is imposible to say which one is 'the best'. warri0r45
Ditto on the Lamb of God + Metallica suggestions. I also love Textures by Cynic: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=NvlTtnY4-qA
Lateralus
It's hard to say, really. I assume we're not including classical pieces. Even if that is the case, I'd still suggest Difficult to Cure by Rainbow, which is a version of Ode to Joy from Beethoven's 9th, and Fanfare for the Common Man by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, which is based on the Copland piece of the same name. Apart from those, I really enjoy Ocean by the John Butler Trio, and of course by Erik Mongrain. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

warri0r45
Apart from those, I really enjoy Ocean by the John Butler Trio.. Not trying to brag, but I've seen him play it live, and it is quite a piece of music. :) He really is excellent live if you ever get the chance to see him. Azvareth
Definitely Killer's "Ad Tempus Vitate". And while it's not strictly instrumental, I've always really liked Deep Purple's "April" (it's a 12 min song, and there's only a bit of singing in the last minute). Gary Moore's cover of Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again" is great as well.

Napalm
Voice of the Soul by Death comes immediately to mind. It's just so full of emotion and really shows the talent that Chuck Schuldiner had as a guitarist and composer. In fact, I wouldn't discount Cosmic Sea either (another Death instrumental). Death's instrumental songs are the best of the best. Trully a great band. As for my favorite (apart from Cosmic Sea) it would have to be Inquisiton Symphony by Sepultura. Their first song I ever heard ;)
How2PK
Interstellar Overdrive is also a favorite of mine, just as the national anthem by radiohead.
