those (except japanese) are oppinions from me, TEACHERS and hundreds of romanians, grown people well above mine and your age, who have spent much more time teaching romanian/english/french and if you want to argue, then argue with them, if you want to argue go to your teachers and ask SEVERAL of them

And on french/english you got it wrong, I started learning english on my own, a few years after I started french, so by your logic I should've learned french first, but that's not me alone, anyway

Like I said - go to several teachers and ask them, it's pointless to argue with a single case/person

I don't understand why you want jagex to spend time on such a useless thing, it's not like people CAN'T learn english, and it's a very easy to learn language too

Your language is NOT better than english, no matter what language it is

Did you actually learn english, or were you born with it? English is one of the hardest languages to learn because of complxe grammer and spelling rules and their exceptions. He never said anything about his language being superior, and Jagex catering to foreign language players is NOT a pointless endeavor. They only make a few servers, it's not like they're halting every major game update to throw out runescape in a language no one uses. I give them credit for managing to control normal updates as well as foreign language releases all at once.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

English is not a particularly easy language to learn for most people, apparently...

But you can look right here for a site that shows how easy a language is to learn for native english speakers.

It basically devides them into the following four tiers:

Category I (Dutch, Spanish, French, Romanian, etc.)

Category II (Greek, Azerbajiani, Zulu)

Category III (Japanese, Both Chinese languages, Korean, Arabic)

Other (German, Indonesian, Swahili, Malaysian)

I'm guessing that it may work that if you find your own language on that chart, you will find the difficulty english would be, but that is just a guess. If that is correct, then a Romanian should learn English easily, and a Japanese should not and so on. I don't know for sure, though.

When I see people say it, I pronounce it "poon" in my head. Makes more sense to me. My friend said it in real life once and I almost kneed him in the family-maker.

This is like very very very old news but ok...

The http://www.rsnl.eu but they have sold it to Jagex because Jagex wanted to prevent that it could possibly become a hacksite. Btw before that moment they where also alloud to buy it but Jagex declined that because most Dutch persons are intelligent enough to understand English. I so hated that at the time: Because Dutch peoples are intelligent there won't come a Dutch version of Runescape :(...

Anyway, the next language there will come will be Portugese/Brazilian, I hope you guys accept this as enough evidence:

http://www.funorb.pt (pt = portugese)

Runescape.nl has been like this for at least two months(there were some posts about it in the RS screenshot topic back in October).

And a Dutch version of RuneScape isn't needed, unless Jagex is trying to attract twelve year old(and younger) children.

This isn't any different from the other translated languages.

swahili runescape attracting twelve year olds? erm...

Are you seriously that ignorant? Ofcourse a Swahili version of Runescape wouldn't attract none to few new customers, simply because there's not enough demand. And every company will realise that. Jagex obviously translates their game to languages with the most demand, being German and French, and now possibly Dutch. Plain marketing. Jagex is a company trying to maximize their profit.

I found English way easier then French and ancient Greek/Latin. The only hard part is the spelling vs. pronunciation, which hardly makes sense. But the grammar is just so easy, almost everything is so logical. In Dutch and the languages I said before, if you have grammar rule A, there are tons of exceptions of that rule. Those exceptions usually have their own rules, but of course those rules will have exceptions again... *Sigh*. Even irregular verbs aren't as difficult as that in English, most of them have some kind of repeating pattern. And once you have learned them, the rules of how to use them aren't very hard IMO.

For just reading and listening it's even easier, because most rules are pretty common sense. However, once I wrote that, I realized it's because some rules look quite a lot like my native Dutch ones, so maybe that's the reason I find them so easy.

For answering the OP more, I don't think Jagex will release a Dutch version. French and German people are known (at least in Holland) for being very stubborn and not wanting to learn any other language. In Holland, a lot of people know English well enough to play RS, especially on the passive (reading) part. Therefore France and Germany just have a lot more potentially players then Holland. Same goes for Spanish and Portuguese, tons of people speak those languages, so tons of new potential costumers. I'm still waiting for a Chinese version, that'd really open a new market.

I know this may not be very well written, and therefore contradicts my first statement, but that's because both my writing and learning foreign language learning skills are pretty poor.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

All skills 80+

You've got nothing against my arguments + the whole lot of tif says you are wrong.

my arguments are valid, so back off, lame creep.

ON TOPIC:

Perhaps we do need a dutch server, as one of the first questions players ask me is:

"Nederlands?" if they are all playing in a dutch world, they don't have to ask that question and evybody happe =D>

I wouldn't complain if I were you about something like that, it's not like you NEED runescape translated in ANY language, I see you can talk in english just fine, it won't hurt you either to learn english better than you already know, and also take into account the time spent translating into other languages can be spent to fix bugs that annoy the hell out of you or make a quest/skill/feature that you always wanted

I laughed.

English is one of the harder languages to learn, for a start. Why don't you go learn another language or two, see how easy it is in a short period of time.

You shouldn't talk about things you don't know anything about, it makes you look like an idiot

-romanian: first language, much harder than english

-french: learning for 10 years, still can't handle it well

-japanese: I know several words, not that hard except characters are way beyond hard learning, and the grammar doesn't make much sence

-english: learned in 2-3 years from watching tv when ~10 years old, back when I didn't even had english in school

Seriously? People consider English one of the harder languages. http://mistupid.com/facts/page016.htm

Don't tell a company to force their consumers to learn a new language to play their game. No, if I am going to play their game, they are going to cater to my needs to play the game.

Kinda late opening a thread about something been there for months. Oh well... I'm from Holland, and we first get to learn a bit English at school around a age of 8 or 9, ofcourse this won't be enough to understand RuneScape completely but at an age of 10-12 you should be able to start playing the English version. Dutch doesnt look as good as English so unless this translation will be for the everyone under 10 It's not needed at all...

It's probably a site set up by Jagex for when dutch players want to try runescape, or they hear about runescape, chances are they might try the .nl but instead of having a whole runescape in dutch, that link just takes them to Runescape.com

Jagex also own runescape.fr (france), it just re-directs to their 3rd language, they own quite a lot and a few more languages will be released such as (imo);

Spanish, Dutch and Finnish.

Erm... English is my primary language and it still doesn't make much sense to me, some of the grammar rules have so many exceptions there may as well not be a rule. I've been learning german for the last 3 months, I can already hold a conversation in german. English is ridiculously complex, and I would have to disagree with anyone who says it is a simple language. Sure, the basic rules are simple, but try distinguishing whether or not to use swim, swam, swum, or dived and dove. By the way, all of those words are in fact, words, coming from an english Ph.D., who also says there are disputes among professors about which word is correct in certain situations.

I has herd, that lesser demons, MAY or may not, drop tormented demons. \:D/  :x :D :o  :? 8-)

Due to a typo, I am now stuck with 1k dragon darts and no buyer. Can I has bail out from tip.it plox?

LLVIU,where are you from btw?

Romania

So why don't you punctuate your sentences with "Bleh bleh!" or "I vant to suck your BLOOD!"?

Oh, wait, sorry- that's Transylvania.

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

Lol, you kidding right, english is so simple even the japanese knows it as a second language. But nevertheless I would like to see Spanish since playing runescape in my language would be nice

BTW, runescape.es (spain) is already registered  but no runescape.mx (mexico) #-o
