Good Covers

Recommended Posts

Anyone know any good videos of people doing covers of songs? I dunno why, but I like finding random videos of people doing their own version of a famous/good song. Here's a couple that some people might like:

Fat Grizzly Adams-lookin dude sings his acoustic rendition of Outkast's famous song 'Hey Ya'.

Singer from a group of brothers who do covers. Group's named Boyce Avenue. Singer's only 19/20.

Another Boyce Avenue cover. This time it's of Linkin Park's song 'Shadow of the Day'.

EDIT: I tried using the youtube button, but none of the videos were showing up :-# .

Hell yeah, the vocals are really convincing.

As for Some good covers I like, Easy and War Pigs by Faith No More come to mind (covering the Commodores and Black Sabbath respectively).

I also like Tool's cover of No Quarter, originally performed by Led Zeppelin:

amazing...

You call that music? Good lord that's the worst thing I've ever heard. No offense to you or anything lol, I mean if you like it then thats awesome... but wow...

Ontopic: that David guy (black guy) who plays piano covers of songs has a lot of good work. Although I didn't think she could sing THAT great, the Handlebars cover is pretty cool the way she makes it flow w/ the acoustic sound.

Definitely agree with All Along The Watchtower. If I'm not mistaken Dylan himself thought is was excellent.

afaik he even started doing it "the jimi way" when he performed it live.

This.

Also Zakk Wylde's/BLS's cover of:

(Led Zeppelin)

Heart of Gold (Neil Young)

Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum)

No More Tears (Ozzy Osbourne - not really a cover though since Zakk wrote it)

(Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Snowblind (Black Sabbath)

Also Iron Maiden's cover of UFO's

. The original is still one of my favourite songs ever.

Dread Zeppelin - awesome cover band of Led Zep, reggae style with an Elvis impersonator lead singer. Also Robert Plant's favourite tribute act.

HcEvQGHge0o

Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'. The most beautiful song ever performed.

Haha, seriously, I think this forum has a few threads that just keep popping up again and again! There must be 10 different threads all dealing with good / bad covers

Well since it's Christmas and all, I think TSO makes an amazing cover of 'Carol of the Bells' (their version is called Christmas Eve - Sarajevo 12-24)

"Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."

Opeth - Would?

Best AIC cover I've heard from a progressive metal band.

Excellent! Akerfeldt needs to grunge up the vocals, though. Staley did a better job of it in my opinion.

Just on the topic of AIC covers by metal bands:

Them Bones by Grave (death metal): http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=6H7aDXJhAeY

I think it's ok, nothing spectacular. I must say that a grunge song done in the style of death metal is kind of weird.
