My parents won't let me..

Featured Replies

Meh, I wanted to get my ears pierced but my folks wouldn't let me no matter how much I argued, so I just let it go. I'll get it done one day, but honestly, it can wait.

Dude, don't ever argue with your parents UNLESS IT'S ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, and there are times when it is. But if they say no, they usually mean no (especially if they keep saying it). My mom said if I come home with a tattoo or piercing before I'm eighteen I'll be sent to live somewhere else (though I doubt she would do that, she would just make me get rid of them, painfully).

By the way, I wanna know how something looks "gay". A lot of gay people dress like straight people, and vice versa.

There are things that make you appear to be homosexual. A miniskirt is one of them. Does not a miniskirt on a man look gay? A three-inch long strip of black leather? Now I want you to carry the image of a man in this outfit for the rest of the day as punishment.

So hrmph.

Yeah I still think nose piercings are stupid, though. It's rare that girls look attractive with them, I don't know why they in particular do it...

EDIT: Why did we get into the big fight over how something can look gay, anyways?

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I don't think a piercing is gonna kill an interview if you remove earrings/studs beforehand.

I can understand them not wanting you to have a nose piercing. I don't think it'd be bad to have one ear piercing, maybe you could come to a compromise with them?

So I take it you've never had a job interview

Gamestop doesn't care about these things, I don't have piercings, so don't take my word for it. I'm just making an assumption here, so there's that chance I'm probably wrong.

Yes, let's work at GAMESTOP for a living! Pay our way through Collins College so we can program video games!

I'm a little concerned about the opinion that because parents are paying rent and providing food they should have complete control of your life though. Every parent has the responsibility of paying for any child they brought into the world, its part of their choice to have a child and they have to stand by that no matter what.

But theres also another responsibility that a parent has, and that is to prepare a child for life in the world. And one of the things each child has to learn is to make decisions for themselves. At sixteen, when the child is getting ready to fly the coup this is a very important thing for them to learn. Kids are always going to make mistakes and the sooner they come to do that the sooner they will learn how not to make mistakes.

A parent's responsibility is to protect their children and teach them how to make good decisions. Getting a tattoo or piercing when you're young might sound like a great idea, but you might end up regretting it later. Your parents are doing you a favor by doing this. They aren't dumb or anal, they've just been around the block a few times.

I have no comment for that joke of a comment made about my comment. I love how people will ALWAYS read the whole story before commenting. I'll say it again, I'm 16, do you expect me to have a high-paying job?

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

No, he's trying to say that a piercing is permanent.

Besides, piercing is a disgusting social cliche that will be over in a few years. We don't see everybody will wearing high-platform shoes or afros nowadays do we? While it may of been cool at the time.

A piercing is no more permanent than shaving your head. You might regret it for a while, but, soon enough, your hair grows back and you know not to shave your head again. He can take out the piercing and the hole will close up. And to those saying he's never going to get a job; he's 16. Really the only jobs that he'll be getting is in fast food/grocery stores/etc. and I know plenty of people with tongue/nose piercings that work.

This is quite interesting. Should I let the thread continue as it is.. or.. I was thinking since some people have already started to do this.. allow people to share what their parents won't let them do. And we can argue about more than facial piercings and what is and isn't considered "gay".

Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..

but if you get a clear peircing, they work real good so no one will see them.

Ah yes, a piercing that no one can see. That's [bleep] genius!

I meant for work

I knew what you meant. You can get clear studs to go in the hole, and they're not noticeable unless you have a high gauge piercing.

If you disregard something cause it's not necessary you may as well be a hermit.

Slicing off your arm to please a crazed family of nine? Not necessarily necessary.

Maybe not necessary, but it could be fun. You should try it.

Doesn't look very appealing to me. I personally prefer the look of tattoos, but unfortunately 14 year olds aren't allowed to get :|

Proably bengali, or south indian.

Not many north indians wear nose rings that big.

You shouldn't have to just be considered "acceptable" whenever they hire you. A company should want to employ you and be proud to have you in their uniform.

OP: Wow, you're cool. Now sit down, be quiet, and go sit in high school.

Honestly, just wait untill you are 18. By that time you may have realized what a pointless idea it is, really.

Anyway, back on topic.

Why the hell do you want a nose ring in the first place?

That is comparing and contrasting what moms wont let their children do. If he has wanted to start a discussion on his statement it is hijacking.

Actually, I revised the first post and decided to let other people share what their parents won't let them do. So his comment is alright. Personally, I think this topic is lame haha.. but whatever. If it lives, it lives. If it dies, it dies. I don't care.

Didn't read the whole thread but this right here is what OP should be listening to. Piercings might be removable but they sometimes leave a scar where the hole was. Wait until you're 18 then do it if you still want to. I'm sure right now you're all pumped to get a piercing but give it a few years and you'll wonder why you wanted it. You're too young, plain and simple.

My parents won't let me drink alcohol, take drugs or smoke. Big whoop.

My mum doesn't let my sister go out late but she lets me, because I r teh mature. However, I can't stay over at someone's house without notification, which seems quite reasonable to me.

Besides, all I do usually is just climb to the roof of my school and lie down watching the stars or something gay like that.

My parents won't let me do the three things you said as well. Which I think is good.

And do you really go on the roof of your school and do that? That's rad.

Wow. Now when you get metal shoved up your nose your cool now?

*sigh*

Kids these days....

On topic: My mom dosent really care what I do, except not to drink, smoke, and do drugs, but I'm not stupid enough to do those...Mainly because I have ethics and I dont like to make a fool out of my slef.

It's quite easy to have a good time with Drink and recreational drugs without making a fool of yourself, you don't have to be falling about drunk or stoned to the point of being a zombie to have fun with it.

Naw, that's mean. But you are shoving metal in your face plausibly due to peer pressure or pressure put on you by society's normal view of "cool" or "hip". When all you need to be cool is to stay off of drugs!

Oh dear god! I can't stop laughing at this!!!! Especially the last part! You funny Lenticular.

Also why would you want a piercing on your nose? I my opinion the only people who do that in my school is girls and boys just get their lip pierced. I find it funny when ever a a higher upper teaher passes by that they quckly take off their piercing so they won't get in trouble

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~
