I obviously have SOME words. So here's what happened:

 

 

 

 

 

My Xbox got the RROD, I sent it in, it came back within 3 weeks, I was happy. About 10 minutes ago, I realized I hadn't played Oblivion since I had gotten it back, and wanted to go check out my stuff and mabye kill some bad guys. I get on, and I immediately want to teleport to my Wizard's tower, which is where I keep all of the hundreds upon hundreds of enchanted swords, armor pieces, and ingredients. I literally had every chest full of almost thousands of pieces in the dungeon. So I get on, and I realize it isn't there. Then I remember that you have to re download content after you get your xbox back. I re download it....assuming that even though the down loadable got "un validated" or whatever the hell they say, my files would still be intact and my crap would be in my chests when I re-dl'ed it.(I also downloaded all the other addons, including thieve's den, vile lair, horse armor, ect)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They finished dl'ing rather quickly, so I hop on, teleport to the mage tower. Open one of the chests. AND THERE'S NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY EFFING NOTHING. All of my hard work, GONE. I proceed to go check all the other addon locations where I kept stuff aswell, everything is gone. Just because it had to be re validated. I am so pissed off right now I can't even speak. WHY does this happen?! WHY wouldn't microsoft make it possible to get everything normal through the save files despite the fact that the stuff is gone?! It's complete b.s.

You did keep your hard drive when you sent it in, right? And migrated the DLC license to your new Xbox?

Of course, its not the addons that are broken, its my saved data that's gone.

Really? Then how come, every time I turn the thing on, it asks what storage device I would like to select? Plus, I think he meant the actual places you need the addon to go to.

He meant he wouldn't use any chest/cabinet/crate that wasn't in the vanilla game. I am the same way, that's why even though I have the Wizard's Tower/Vile Lair ect... I still use Benirus Manor in Anvil to store everything (it's close to a fence that is easy to keep track of).

That sucks man. The whole RROD thing is the only reason why I'm glad I got a Wii instead of a 360.

The rate is much lower, but they still get RROD.

lol I'm so lucky I haven't had RROD. I stream movies all the time to my 360 when I'm in bed so it runs even when I fall asleep.

That really sucks, I'm sorry. I know how good some of those rare Oblivion items are. You can make more, though, I think. Oh well, that still is a pain in the [wagon].

Are you supposed to place your 360 on its side or standing up when you play it?

I always place it on its side. Less likely to fall over.

I don't think it really matters, but M$ recommends keeping it on it's side.

Exactly; at least on the PC you can use the console to get your items back (to a certain degree) but the time involved is still a complete pain in the arse. It's so much easier just to avoid it by not taking that risk to begin with. I personally use use my waterfront house since I make frequent trips to the enchanting and spell making alters. And it's in the middle of everything :thumbup:

Same - that little Waterfront shack is where I keep all of my stuff. I literally have nothing stored anywhere else, mostly because I don't see the point.

Just a simple question, but did the game ever save that first time before re-downloading the DLC? That could have overwritten all of the game data that described your items.

I disagree with d00d. Place it upright because as the xbox becomes hot the motherboard becomes more flexible and when its on its side the chips tend to sag down abit. Over time this can obviously cause permenant deformation of the chips (often causes RRoD).

 

 

 

Ok it has more risk of being knocked over but so long as your careful and place it in a safe place it won't fall.

Ouch man.... This is why they need the construction kit available for 360, so you could hook up your houses with more chests for more space. But I agree with the earlier guy, when the chests and all that were downloaded, it probably overwrote them.

 

 

 

 

 

Sidenote: (@ the people who base the xbox right on the RRoD.) Screw off, the 360 barely gets that anymore. I dont base the PS3 entirely on its heating or limited games.

 

(Also, my 360 is pretty old, and not one problem.)

 

(And I own a PS3, so dont go accusing me of bein a fanboy, cause I dont see the 360 as a bag of chips, either.)

I lost every single thing in Oblivion thinking that because Mage's Guild chests keep items stored permanately, the Arcane University would :wall:

try going to a small village, maybe wenyon priory, kill or the kvatch encampment even, kill someone, take over their home, and store your junk there!

 

 

 

BTW, I didn't even know you can store stuff. How do you? Please give me detailed controls to do so for XBOX 360. :mrgreen:
