In particualr its nice to hear that the are working on the story lines being ended, alongside confirmation the next/last part of elf quest line will feature priffindas and be epic as well as the hints that some people are working on Zaros return and a 2nd godwar. Also liking the direction achievement diaries are going, a set effect sounds nice indeed, though I should hope the set effect will have 3 tiers and the effect you get is governed by the lowest piece you have Don't forget that it needs to change the look of the set too, its all well having good effects, but if it just looks terrible as it currently does with random colours/shapes it won't be as good. I'm guessin git will develop further. Consider the slots we have left are Weapon, amulet, legs, cape Places we (currently) have that are diaryless include: Keldagrim Canafis (and all other morytanina areas) Elf lands Orge Lands Gnome Lands (probably includes ape atoll) ALL the pirate islands Ardougne Yanille Penguins now some of these i doubt will get a diary anytime soon, but the fact there more palces than equipment slots would imply either each itme slot will have time items that mount up if used in double Eg ardougne plate and varrock plate might combine to make 4 5 6 stages or perhaps only can be combined when both are lvl 3 Or perhaps the obvious human places will fill the last 4 slots then more obscure outland diaries will offer potions/scrolls or require completion of other diaries The last three are going to be Keldagrim,Canfis, and the WILD.

March 5, 200917 yr Is it bad that I find these Q&A posts more exciting than some actual content releases? I love hearing what people at Jagex are thinking & planning. It would require significant work to be able to have Player Owned Cities or similar clan facilities, although it would certainly add an interesting aspect to the game and be well worth the technical challenges. I can't even fathom this.
March 5, 200917 yr Q) Darth Stefan - Will there be a second God Wars? A) Mod Mark - We have strong ideas for another high level dungeon, but its not likely to be another God Wars...ah, hang on...are you asking me if there will be another actual war of the gods? Id say that was very likely, especially with the return of Z being talked about so much and Guthix still fast asleep. They do like to take matters into their own hands. Sounds epic. :D

March 5, 200917 yr [*]There either will be a new skill released by the end of 2010 OR they will have simply began work on it by then. Q) Eirikjoh - Will there be new skills by the end of 2010 and are you working on one at the moment? A) Paul -Yes There will be "new skills" <-- More then one skill and they are currently working on atleast one of them at the moment. Theres 2 new skills scheduled for this year It's been said for over 6 months now I know i've been saying it around the boards for a very long time. Where was this announced? I would be surprised if I missed an announcement as big as one stating that there would be 2 new skills scheduled. As far as I can tell, Jagex have said nothing about releasing a new skill at all until today with that question. The player asked if there would be "new skills" released by the end of 2010 & if they are currently working on one. Paul's response doesn't exactly look unequivocal - he answers two seperate questions with a single word. I feel as though his answer should be read in a similar way to the first question posted (Q) There should be underground maps - A) "I agree" ...) ie; purposefully vague and uncommitted.

March 5, 200917 yr [hide=Notable Q&A]Q) Nokama889 - I think that you should release an Achievement Diary cape. A) Mod Mark The plan with Achievement Diaries is to eventually release a full set of equipment, making up the Achievement Diary set. Similar to the Barrows gear, the full set will give you access to some special abilities. It may well be that the final piece of equipment is a cape. So, yes, there will be an Achievement Diary cape but it wont be like the level 99 capes. Paul I would prefer to keep our options open for now. If we ever wanted to put a "very hard level" of achievements into a diary, that could be a much more sudden jump in level requirements than the smoothly increasing level requirements we have on the quest cape. Q) Xeniel6 - There is a lot of mystery and intrigue surrounding the different gods of RuneScape. Perhaps you might know a bit about them? A) Paul - As you complete quests you may well start to realise that, with RuneScape gods, all is not as it first seems. I wont spoil the storylines by explaining the gods here, but I can mention Im working on a quest involving the Mahjarrat, who take gods rather seriously. Q) Johnnyharris1 - Do you write the script and story line for the game as you go along or is it all planned out? A) Mod Roderick - There's a lot of back-story and RuneScape history which is not yet revealed in the game, but there's still freedom to create individual storylines for each quest series. The actual dialogue tends to be written while a quest is being made, though sometimes short sections of chat will be written earlier to help the developer get a better understanding of the characters involved. Mod Mark There are parts of storylines that Paul wrote years ago, before I was even with the company (wow, thats 6 years now!), that were not even close to talking about yet. Plotlines like the Stone of Jas have been talked about ever since I started here, and it was only in While Guthix Sleeps that we started to talk about it seriously. Of course, several people noticed the spoilers that existed in the game beforehand, but there was nothing established as fact until the launch of that quest. Then, of course, theres the big Z... Q) Fitzcairn - Zaros's return has been hinted at for a long time now. Will it be achieved this year? A) Mod Mark - Zaros likes to remain mysterious about such things, and isnt likely to let even us know when he intends to return. However, a select team of developers led by Paul is trying to find out Q) Freak Nerd01 - Can we make a dragon pickaxe? A) Mod Mark - Dragon pickaxes will be released in the future. I cant really say anything more than that, but it did come up in discussion this week, so we havent forgotten about it and we DO have a plan. Q) Darth Stefan - Will there be a second God Wars? A) Mod Mark - We have strong ideas for another high level dungeon, but its not likely to be another God Wars...ah, hang on...are you asking me if there will be another actual war of the gods? Id say that was very likely, especially with the return of Z being talked about so much and Guthix still fast asleep. They do like to take matters into their own hands. Q) Fitzcairn - Could we please tie up some loose ends on quest story lines before we start whole new story lines? A) Mod Mark - Yes, and we are doing so. You may have noticed that more quests focus on unresolved issues rather than starting new ones. We will still be producing new storylines, but not as frequently as we did before. Even the matter of how Vargas got turned into a yeti will be revealed this year! [/hide] I can't help but get a good feeling about some of those answers! Paul on a huge Mahjarrat quest, quite possibly the return of Zaros and the background of King Vargas of Miscellania revealed this year. For those who don't know, Vargas used to be a human then he traveled north to the icelands and returned a hideous Yeti. Perhaps we may see the icelands of Archeon this year? Or maybe it will just be a weak quest or not even a quest at all and just Postbag or part of the Lores. Only time will tell, but I'm hoping for something nice from all this. Dragon Pickaxe, glad to see that hasn't been forgotten. The Achievement set effect does sound nice but makes you wonder, what will they do when they make a part for each slot. There are more areas than we have equipment slots and I'd hate to see them end just because there are no more slots. As for Wilderness, Keldagrim, and Morytania being 100% proven diaries for the future, that's not true, the KB only mentions them to help give an introduction to RuneScapes varied landscapes and the actual diaries. However, I do think a Wilderness diary and a Morytania diary would work quite nicely, not so much for a Keldagrim one though as it's just a city. Falador and Varrock had tasks outside the city and in the large general area around them, Keldagrim is a city and a mine not much to go on there. Maybe if they expanded it with Rise of the Red Axe 3... The last quest Paul Gower worked on was While Guthix Sleeps as a secondary developer, his last quest as lead developer was Defender of Varrock. I have high hopes for his next one.

March 5, 200917 yr Q)Blackkingx - How long will Wilderness Tag be put on hold? A) Paul I would consider the beacon lighting game you can play once you have completed the quest "All Fired Up" to be the evolution of Wilderness Tag. All the original Wilderness Tag really involved was running around the Wilderness lighting beacons! Finally a straight answer on Wilderness Tag. We no longer have to wonder if it will ever be released. :D

March 5, 200917 yr Anyone else notice something particularly disturbing? For all of the questions about making things better...the answers seem to be "We actually have started DISCUSSING this" or "Yes I am working on a high level update to Prayer, but the project is still in PLANNING" or "We do PLAN to fill in the gaps between skills OVER TIME" Really...this is the new improved open Jagex? Sounds like the exact same crap to me. A bunch of uncertain speculation, always telling us that the cool stuff is coming, but currently in planning. Also....who wouldn't have guessed that they were going to make high-end content OVER TIME? That seems blatantly obvious to me...the question everybody wants answered is is it coming this year? Or three years from now when that 95 slayer monster isn't going to be a big deal because the population already has 99 slayer. I'm frankly not convinced with the "new direction" that they claim to be going in. There have been a ton of questions with people concerned about high level content, and there have been posts on all fansite forums talking about the fact that we NEED to fill in the skill gaps. The answer they gave us is basically them acknowledging that this problem has been going on for years, and they are completely embarassed that they have no answers for the people asking about high level content, because it is still way too far away... Typically a game likes to give players more things to do as they get further in the game, not build you up then stop delivering at about halfway through. As of now, I have stopped my membership. They have 15 days of my playtime left to show me that this game will be worth my continued play, or I will be F2P for the first time in 5 years. Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON
March 5, 200917 yr Gratz to Lalala7324 for having his question posted! =D> Q)Lalala7324 - Now, for the community tournaments mentioned, will those be combat-based like the Duel Tournaments, or will they be more minigame-based such as Trouble Brewing, Stealing Creation, etc? A) Paul - I'm sure we will aim to do a variety of community events. Feedback on the sorts of things you would like to see on this front would be great. Some of them could be competitive tournaments, some could be other things. Some of what we do could be staff-hosted, while we could also be adding items and features to help players run their own events. Tell us what you'd like! The moment I saw his name, I rushed over here to see if anyone had mentioned him. :-# I knew his name sounded familiar... ^ Blog.
March 5, 200917 yr To be blunt its our own fault Jagex are vague with us now. why? Because whenever they even slightly give us any info everyone blows it out of all proportion claims it was a promise and then automatically are disappointed because what they built up in their head is never what Jagex said they were doing. But I'd say even these vague answers give us a fair bit, yes all of us with half an iq point could answer most with the planning stages etc but considering 90% of the rsof psot are omg jagex aren't doing this aren't doing that actually physically telling us they are planning these things forces people to actually acknowledge (hopefully) they are talking total rubbish about something they have no knowledge of. March 5, 200917 yr well there won't be an elf quest for awhile lol they talked a good deal about the mahjarrat and zaros though, we might be seeing that in a few months \
March 6, 200917 yr -Concerning updates above level 70 - Also to be fair they have been pretty open about the fact they are waiting for the rest of the community to catch up. Meaning they do not intend to release high level content as lower level people cant do it. Its become apparent that they chuck a few bones such as the inferno adze with a couple of other gnawed bones such as the abyssal pet. (Which is useless but cool.) Then theres of course the updates that lower people moan at high levels saying we got godwars etc. But those arnt true high level updates. They are -everybody but high combat people get an advantage- updates. Inc minigamse were combat sometimes give advantage and rarely do the skills. Obviously I personally do not share the same opinion as jagex - Who seem to think the idea of working towards a goal as being absurd. (Besides summoning anyway) They have been pretty honest about it. It was obvious high level content concerns were being ignored before.. but hope prevailed. Nowadays they have been honest about their intentions and its pretty disheartening. I seen so many people leave due to this over the years. People I knew and people I didnt. Yet they continue to wait for the community to catch up before releasing updates. Inferno adze for example.. As more people now have the skill level for it to use. (Although I still consider it a high update....Just many more people have the requirement than certain other skills.) Even then theres combat which many many people have high skills in. Which they dont dont seem to add higher requirements too. Which is rather odd... So hope has never been exactly plentiful to begin with. Summoning wasnt a total loss though so maybe there is. They -could- of made it better for lower levels like everything else but I find this skill very balanced for everyone. March 6, 200917 yr I think all jagex needs to do is take their time with the new skills. When summoning came out it was all rushed and had to be fixed alot. They could have saved some time if they waited a bit more. [hide=stats][/hide]
March 6, 200917 yr Even if they dont admit to it (Why would they!) that of might been due to rwt issues at the time. Trying to keep people playing. Though they certainly should spend time on their future skills. I dont mind simpler skills like hunter.. But its good to have things going upto 99 even if its very useless rewards tbh. Atleast something there is nice to be rewarded with. VMeh BlogV >Miscellaneous Goals< http://www.rsbandb.com/sigs/sig108/bazzaminxer.png
