April 21, 200917 yr I don't think we have a discussion thread for this, so I thought I would start one. Does anyone else agree that the music has improved drastically lately (if you even keep it on), with songs like the sound of Guthix and everything else from WGS, Stealing Creation, Chosen Commander music and apparently the music from the new quest aswell. April 21, 200917 yr Runescape music is a start and i from my view think Jagex done good job on the small step. But they need to improve, the music melodies is outdated.

The most boring and irritating music centres on areas that have been around for ages (or since RuneScape was created), like Lumbridge and Draynor (I hate 'Harmony' with a passion), and the most exciting and appropriate ones are in recent quests. I'd like it if they overhauled some of the earlier tracks. ~ W ~

April 21, 200917 yr Jagex did pretty much go from two guys in a basement to a multi million dollar cooperation. Music and sound effects are one of those lower priority things, plus its pretty expensive. Hiring a band/orchestra for even a few days could cost a ton of cash, and they probably only recently got the budget to pay for something more then keyboard generated music. April 22, 200917 yr It has nothing to do with how much it costs to make the music sound more professional. It has to do with the fact that this is a browser based game and that the sound files need to be small enough to load seamlessly on a browser while loading and updating the entire RS world smoothly AND hosting up to 2000 players per server. I would LOVE to have a more organic sounding score but that would make load times a lot longer unfortunately.

Harmony brings back some memories. :D I think I'll leave it on for a while and see what some of the newer areas music is like. I don't have much else to listen to anyways. And I don't feel that the rs music is TOO horrible. :D

April 22, 200917 yr They redid the tracks a while ago, to make them sound less PacMan-ish. It's pretty decent for music coming from a game, that's all I can say. Only fear God,Know the weapons of the weak,The weakness of the hard.
