Earlier this month our school board changed the start/end time for the whole district for next year.

 

Current:

 

Elementary: 9:15-3:45

 

Jr. High: 8:30-3:00

 

High: 8:00-2:00

 

 

 

New:

 

Elementary: 8:00-2:30

 

Jr. High: 8:30-3:00

 

High: 9:15-3:45

 

 

 

I'm simply curious about others start/end time and how you would react by having a change such as we will be having. Especially curious if any high-schoolers here have a similar schedule as to what we will have next year.

My school system is similar. I think it's a ploy to make parents pay for daycare because now highschool/middleschool student won't be able to babysit until their parents get home now.

This is my last year in middle school (8th grade); I go to a Catholic school, so one period accounts for religion class.

 

 

 

Starts at 8:40, ends at 3:15. Not sure what it is for high school next year.

I wish my school had those times. 8:30-3:30

Man, you guys have awesome systems. Here in elementary, I think it's 7:45-3:00, while in Jr. High and high school it's all 8:30-4:00, although due to 85% of people being in competitive athletics it's 7:30-5:30.

My high school goes from 8:05-1:35 on Mondays and 8:05-2:35 on every other regular day.

 

My middle school went from 8:45-2:15 on Mondays and 8:45-3:15 on regular days.

I think most in England start at 9:00/8:55 but there are quite a few that start at 8:30ish or some times around there.

 

As for me, the high school connected to our sixth form starts at 8:55 and ends 3:30.

I would rather start earlier and get out earlier. Then I would have more free time during the day.

EDIT: We also have a few other Thursday schedules. We have a 45 minute assembly on a regular Thursday (as mentioned above), but occasionally we don't get out until 2:25 if they need to extend our assembly for some reason. We also have late start days where we start at 9:25 and end at 2:25. And we have early out days where we start at 7:45 and end at 12:20.

How does that work out?

Well, for me, in High School it was 8:35am to 3:45pm. Monday to Friday normally.

 

 

 

When I entered 6th Year, I had a Study Period for Period 6 Monday (last thing), so I just signed out at 2:45pm.

 

 

 

Fridays, it was 8:35am to 12:05pm.

I would rather start earlier and get out earlier. Then I would have more free time during the day.

Elementary/Middle - 7:45-2:45

 

High - 7:45-2:40

 

 

 

I'd rather get out earlier than sleep longer.

 

 

 

Next year(regular schedule stays the same, but I'm taking a weird schedule)

 

 

 

M/W/F- 6:45-1:40(Taking M/W/F college level classes at 6:45 and 7:45, get out last hour for coming early)

 

 

 

T/R - 8:45-1:40(Have no class until 2nd period, still get to leave early, only 4 classes per day on these days)

 

 

 

Also, these college classes only go September-April, so in August and May, I always have the T/R schedule :

 

 

 

Another plus, my employer(BURGER KING!!!) will be happy that I can come in at 2PM instead of 4 like most people do, so I am likely to get more hours.

 

 

 

Only downside - I have the hardest schedule possible for a Junior.

8:45 - 3:20 on all days. No more days where we end school early because our school is notorious for being rowdy up town. :roll:

When I first started high school it was really, really confusing (as you would expect). But after a while I got used to it. I guess I just like it because I always get out earlier than I did in middle school :P

 

 

 

And it works because we have different activities going on different days and a different amount of classes. On Mondays and Fridays we have all seven classes but they're only 45 minutes long. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays we have five classes at an hour long and on Thursdays we only have four (again an hour long). But on Wednesdays we also have a short 30 minute assembly and on Thursdays we have a 45 minute assembly.

 

 

 

So you have each class four days a week.

 

 

 

Again, confusing, but you get used to it very quickly. And actually, I've had a different schedule for each of the four years that I've been at my school. For each of those schedules, we've had the same basic layout (each class four days a week, all classes on Mondays and Fridays, get out at a different time every day, etc.), but they've been moving around the activities like our assemblies and a few other things. I've heard that they're trying to decide on a final, hopefully-never-have-to-change-again schedule for next year.
