May 28, 200917 yr It went down around 6pm eastern or so, then came back up at like 12:30-1:20, and then went down for like 10-15 minutes, and now it's back up. Certainly wasn't 12 hours. I'd imagine in the next 18 hours we'll get a news related post or announcement on the main site with the cause of the boards crashing and hopefully an explanation on why it's been a common encounter these past few weeks.

May 28, 200917 yr There is such a thing as maintenance. I'm not saying that's what it was- I just didn't see any administrators running around panicking yesterday. I'll see if I can get one to answer here. But seriously, can't the server be down for a bit without users thinking it's a DDoS? We have the 30th biggest phpBB board in the world, it's not a matter of just sitting back and letting it run.

It could be a provider thing, but it's definitely not an attack from the outside. May 29, 200917 yr If there's a big problem, you'll usually get a message from admin about it. I think it has been the same reoccurring issue with the forum server, but I'd have to let a tech admin answer that as I'm really not sure.
