xyrec
While those who were hit by katrina struggle to survive, the rest of us have to struggle to afford to drive our cars(which isn't too bad in comparison to katrina). Some people have to spend all the money they get from work just to get to work, it's ridiculous. What do you guys think? Where is gas headed? 3.50 a gallon? 4.00? Higher? What about the cause of this current hike. Do we really get that much of our gas from the gulf region or is it just an excuse to price gouge? How many think we should be working harder to switch over to all renewable energy sources? What sources would those be? I personally like ethanol and hydrogen fuel cell cars. Ethanol can be made from almost any plant matter including a lot of the stuff we throw away, and we can always grow more plants. We can't always grow more oil and besides, petrolium polutes, ethanol doesn't. Hydrogen fuel cells are kinda cool, currently they suck though because you gotta have raw hydrogen and oxygen to run em. Potentially though they could be run on water, using a weak electrical charge to seperate the water into hydrogen and oxygen then using those to power the fuel cell. weezcake
I'm sure gas is headed to $4.00/gallon soon. And this is why I love San Francisco; MUNI goes everywhere. But of course, gas prices are more expensive here. :? I heard that vegetable oil can be used as gasoline. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. jlee
I think vegetable oil can only be used if the car was a diesel... so if it's a normal gasoline car... you'll still have to buy gas Over here.. gas is around $1.16/Litre... other parts of the country are higher from what I've heard on the news.. Mercifull
I have a 1.4 Peugeot 206. Its only a small car (see pic) However it costs me over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã40!! Thats $73 to fill up my tank from empty to full. Thats approx ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã4 ($7.30) a gallon. I really wish you Americans would stop boo hooing about the price of your petrol because you pay next to nothing compared to us Brits. vmser
I should check, but prices have skyrocketed here aswell. Think it's approx 1.10 euro per liter of diesel..
ford_rule
its $1.25 AUD where i live, per litre. imagine that, and the reason why its so expensive is we cant refine enough, we got plenty of crude oil, just dont have the refining capabilities, so supply is less than demand, therefore price hike. X-Arcade-X
It's about 125yen/L here in Japan. Which is about 1.15$. I don't think it's something new, it started going up since the Iraq war. RsN: Arcade

Shadd
When I went into a tradmark store to pay for my gas the clerk said her husband works down at a place that has something to do about gas, forgot the name. Anyway, she said that people have been filling up gas inside buckets which is making the supply of it near out. She also said that if people continue doing this then we won't have any gas ( I don't think this applies to everyone in the U.S., just my parts of it ) Either that or a chain reaction of explosions going off from overheated gas that people stored in cans and buckets. It's time for a change, and now would be the perfect time.

JiggaWHO
6 bucks a gallon in Atlanta lol. The gas stations are making BIG BUCKS on this load of gas. I work at a gas station, the owner buys tanks of like 9,000 gallons at a time. He paid for this tank to make profit selling at 2.64, so he's making 35 cents EXTRA PROFIT every gallon. He deserves it though, they make hardly nothing on gas these days. It's 2.99 in NE PA, 3.29 at the Indians place.

assassin_696
92p ish for a litre of diesel here in leeds. Pretty expensive but my dad's car does on average 35mpg which isn't too bad. I think the problem with hydrogen fuel cell cars are the emmisions, water vapour, which actually is a major pollutant due to the fact that the more water vapour in the air, the more humidity and higher temperatures. That's a rough and brief explanation. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
How2PK
It's ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì4,84 for a gallon here in Holland (one of the lower prices!), which equals $6,00886. Don't whine. Bmw
2 words. Bull *. Exactly what this is, bull *, and I'm pretty...mad about it I guess. I don't even own a car, but this is ridiculous. Usually gas goes up by like what...10 cents yearly max? In the past two years, its gone from 60 cents/litre to over 1.25/litre. Before Katrina came around, gas was about 94 cents in Toronto. I woke up yesterday to find gas at $1.25 in my area. A 31 cent increase overnight? These guys are just complete morons, trying to make us all poor. Seriously. The cost of living is just too high these days, and wages aren't being increased to suit the needs. Can you say another great depression? Just went out and about, some gas stations are at $1.25, some at $1.04....wtf? Just goes to show how [bleep]ed up this is. They're just throwing out random numbers, putting gas at whatever price they want. There is NOOOO way that hurricane Katrina has caused this much of a drop in oil, in order to increase prices this drastically. Someone has to do something, seriously. Lionheart_0
 idea! Perhaps they should think of lowering the price of electric cars soon? that could help. logic-is-overrated
Guy at the gas station told me that the gas prices work in a circular motion. For example: Gas starts off at $2 a gallon. Then they raise it to $2.35 a gallon. Now everybody is freaking out because its 35 cents higher. But then they drop it back down to $2.10 a gallon. Now everbody thinks there saving money when there actually paying 10 cents more than what they started with. And they just keep raising and dropping and people keep thinking their saving when their actually paying more. This guy says Katrina is causing a lot of damage but not enough to make the prices jump this high. So the gas stations are really jacking it up and after awhile their going to lower it, its still going to be way higher than it was before, but now people are going to think their saving money. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
