DuckyTheSwan
i am against this idea. i'm 19, and in most countries in the world i am a full adult. i pay my membership every month through direct debit on a credit card. why should jagex tell me when i can and can't play? if i wanted someone telling me to get off my damn computer i'd move back in with my parents. and i wouldn't really like a window coming up for every hour i play either. on my mac, in the top right hand corner is a clock. if it was something people could toggle on/off then i'd think it was a good idea. anyway, if i wanted parenting i'd be living with my parents instead of my partner. jagex won't implement this idea ever, because people like me, who don't really appreciate being told what to do would quit, and they'd lose money. i don't play 8/10 hours a day, but even if i did, it's no one's business but mine. Zierro
I'm against limiting play time. Now prove I play more than 10 hours a day. My highest stat is cooking, at level 40. And it's higher than my level 32 combat, too. Clearly I waste my life away playing RS over 10 hours a day . You don't have to be directly affected by something to be compelled to speak against it, and most people against this aren't playing 8+ hours a day either way. Exactly. I don't need to be black to say that slavery was wrong. I don't even play RS anymore and I am opposed to the limit.
Caromon
If Jagex DID implement a playing limit it wouldn't affect me directly but many players would get angry over a pretty much useless update from Jagex. Although... maybe they should have a limit on these forums. I only play RS about 1-2 hours a day but it seems like on on the forums 24/7. :wall:
Drow4
Players should restrict themselves, Jagex should do more to encourage responsible gaming. It is both the responsibility of the gamer and the game manufacturer.
stonewall337
Only time I play that much is if we have bad weather or sometimes when I am sick. However, there could possibly be an option for parents to submit something limiting play time for minors. Otherwise, no time limit. Skull
It's not my problem if someone wants to play 10 hours a day. Nor should it be jagex's problem. It's that player's problem. And probably their family's. [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp

JoeDaStudd
No. Although in the past there were things Jagex did for the good of the players gaming time. For example the ability to log out mid cave fights and the extended log out timer (allows you to go get a drink, have a pee and so on). I have a bit of a competitive streak about me and normally want to best people. RS is the only game I can play whereby I simply relax, any other game I get extremely competitive with (don't ask me why RS doesn't as I don't know). Miner_Guy
Personally i dont reallyy see how someone can play more than 5 hrs a day, if they do then my view is they r addicted. I dont think there should be a limit as it should be the players resposibility to choose how many hours he or she plays.

Bloodkay
Although I wouldn't mind if they imposed a time limit on players, I do think it's up to the parents and the (older) players themselves to lead a healthy lifestyle. Reztral
Players should be able to play as much or as little as they want. If the player feels like playing for 30 straight hours (which I would not recommend) then that player should be able to do so. Of course, the player should be willing to accept any consequences from playing for extended periods of time, but that is the player's responsibility. --8727th person to achieve 99 Fishing on 8/19/2008----6012th person to achieve 99 Thieving on 10/12/2008--R.I.P. Midala87
If it helps deter bots then I am all for it. Besides, you should see how Blizzard treats it's gamers. NO ONE is able to play on server maintenance day(s). Those days typically are Tuesdays and can last hours. Whereas with Jagex only a select few servers are maintained at a time unless something major is needed. Which to be honest does not last all that long. We that play with Jagex are lucky indeed to have them as our friends. For they understand our need to be on 24/7.
mister_moocky
Addiction is caused by chemicals manipulating the brain, so-called gaming "addictions" where people lose jobs or drop out of school to play video games is just a lack of self discipline. I spend almost all of my free time on the computer, usually playing runescape, but I'm not an unhealthy person. It really pisses me off when people blame problems on video games just because they're not as socially accepted as a hobby as traditional forms of entertainment. quit
smobo
I think its not the responsibility of jagex to put limits on. Though I do feel they have some kind of responsibility to incorporate the ability to take breaks into playing the game. Its their responsibility to give us the ability to have breaks, but our responsibility to take them. An example of what I'm saying is fight caves. It could be unhealthy for someone to have to go through 2 hrs+ of gaming without the ability to have a break, so they put in the ability to save your progress. Most of rs is good for this, skills only take 2-3 minutes max to complete a cycle, you can kill any boss in under 5 minutes, quests give you time to take a break ect. The only place I can think of that's poorly designed for this is daggonoth kings, where you can't log out without messing things up. Though I personally wouldn't mind an optional timer in game. Something I can turn on while skilling/slaying to knock me out of cruise control every hour. Its not very hard to slay for "5 minutes" and then 3 hours have gone by.
