Bad weather where I work means I either spend the night at work, or go to a co-workers house to crash.

We don't get off for bad weather, even when its 10+ inches of snow.

Of course, I also live in Wisconsin...

As a programmer, you can alway work from home. So bad weather isn't a good excuse for no updates. But it's new year! Sure many jagex employees took vacation for the last two weeks. Give them a break. Membership isn't just for updates.

No, membership isn't just for updates. That doesn't excuse them from the responsibility of updates. I think you guys keep missing the fricken point. It's not about snow, or weather, or working from home. That is just stuff that happened. They had this planned regardless of the weather and many of us, myself included, think that 3 weeks with no updates whatsoever is wrong. We hold them accountable for things like this.

The whole snow argument is akin to maybe a friend was going to sleep with my girlfriend, but luckily I shot him 4 times in the face 3 weeks before. It doesn't matter what would've happened, it matters what I did.

I mean honestly, do you guy even realize what a bunch of gullible marks you're being? You are being completely worked by what's in the game and are completely blind to the fact that we're supposed to be getting updates to that game on the backside. I mean seriously. <_<

Indeed. I personally like to have a bit of new distraction while getting 99 Agility. And next week is my busiest exam week :(

Thank god for that. Can't trust bisexual girlfriends now can you? :P

Good comparison though.

And that's from someone who knows it all. So

Oh what's the point, no one ever reads what you actually say anyway. I got called BS because I said a large part of why I played was for new updates and it was taken as I play *exclusively* for new updates and refuse to play anything else on the game.

Firstly, sarcasm dunt work on teh interwebz

The snow had nothing to do with the no update, they said on the 21st that there was not an update till atleast the 11th (in future updates). It wasn't even forecast back then. The snow is not that bad there either.

and if they said there awasn't gonna be an update until about the 11th, why's everybody whining?

It's not whining. Those of us who pay for our membership expect jagex to keep up a regular update schedule. For those of us who reupped just because of christmas and have already gone through the vast majority of other content in the game it's a real let down and money waste.

Personally I hate to grind so i have no interest in going for 99's, i'm not really big on boss hunting, and i've played all the minigames and done all the quests, so what is there left for me besides waiting for new content?

Edit - i also strongly dislike pvp.

When i pay for a month of membership i expect that within those 4 weeks, there will be at least 2 updates. Now i don't expect an update every week, and i can even accept the occasional 2 week gap. But with waiting until the 11th for a new update, that will spell an entire month(11th dec is when a chrismas warble came out) without an update. That means one full membership period without a single update. That is just not fair to those of us who pay and have come to expect a certain standard.

Then again maybe the 11th is going to spell some massive game changing super update and we'll all be singing praises, who knows, but for now i just want the normal update schedule.

Edit 2 - Granzi while you may see those as unaccomplished things to do, some of us see them as droll and boring. For me i play the game for quests. When no new quests are available i generally lapse into inactivity. Like i said before, I'm not interested in a lot of the common goals. I don't give a damn about castle wars armor or void or infinity robes. I do want to finish my achievement diaries and am working towards it but that's more of a goal just to pass the time until a new quest comes out. As far as music, i never have it on so i don't give a damn about unlocking it. And yes i have completed all quests and subquests.

You see while there may be things to do technically, some of us just don't like doing those bloody things, and i find it very ignorant of you to assume that just because they exist means we should want to do them.

No we don't expect updates. Those of us paying for membership do so because we expect a bigger world, more skills, making things easier to train. To be fair not getting an update shouldn't bother members, you still wont get a free Dragon Platebody, or an automatic 99 so apart from a little bit of something like maybe a quest or a skill update what do we miss? Nothing much? Yes?

And if you've done all that then why are you playing? If you're that bored that all you do is log in for updates what's the point? There is always something to do, skills to be raised, MTK to be done, monsters to kill, the variety on runescape is there for us to take not for Jagex to plonk right infront of us. I've recently got bored again of combat and slayer, I spent yesterday doing agility, I spent today fishing, tomorrow I'll do something else...... You have 28 skills to rise, so raise them. Jagex didn't just create them for the lulz. Each helps players in different ways so explore them. And if you're really that bored after all that then why don't you buy another games console or something? Or go play another game?

So don't preach that members expect a certain standard and schedule, we shouldn't. Jagex work hard, and they do damn well with their pressure. No matter what update is released SOMEONE will complain. We already have the standard for the game as we pay what? Between £3.50 and £6 in the UK (don't know what it is for others but it's the exchanged equivalent) The standard is that we get skills, we get achievement capes, we get bosses, we get everything that free players do and more.

NOTE: Libs I apologise if it seemed that I took your post the wrong way..... I actually found it rather humorous about them being meteorologists, I was kinda replying to the past 3 pages worth of posts complaining that there wouldn't be an update till the 11th yet Jagex could still make twitter updates etc.

You continuously miss the point. I do not enjoy grinding so i don't want to spend a say doing nothing but endlessly training a skill.(with the exception of slayer for some reason) I don't like boss hunting, or pvp, and i've played the minigames to the point of redundancy. That's what it is really. Runescape, without updates, is an exercise in redundancy. You do the same thing over and over and over, and sure you can switch to another skill and do that over and over and over. but in the end you're still just grinding. The one thing in runescape that I really find enjoyable are the quests. Quests are the most important factor in any RPG as far as i'm concerned. Without a quest then you're just wandering aimlessly, and that's really not my thing. While I know there is technically plenty to do, there just aren't that many things that I really enjoy the way that I enjoy doing quests. Some people play for pvp. Some people play for capes. Some people play for minigames. I play for quests.

Now I know every update won't be a new quest, and that's fine with me. I always try out new content and see if I like it. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, but you'll rarely see me complaining unless it was a badly made quest like the chosen commander or the new dwarf quest.

Now that being said, I do not expect weekly updates, but I believe that at least one update in the space of a month isn't to much to ask. I'm ok with 1 off week, or even 2, but 3 is just too long.

It's true that there is a lot to do but everything gets dull and boring after a while.

It could help if Jagex releases the reqs for Fairytale 3. Then I know what lvl Herblore/Farming I need to get.

But if they did it one time, then the community would expect them to do it every time and then their would be more to complain about than before. I mean, it's a dumb reason, but I gotta side with Jagex on the side of the immaturity of the RS community.

You can't let them go three weeks without an update, especially over the holiday period? And don't start with that "they should have had something prepared for this week" bs. I'm quite sure Jagex would not want an update finished before Christmas, and then just leave it untouched for two weeks whilst they went and had a merry time.

Just keep on moaning and hating at Jagex since that's all it seems you've done this year.

Please, you just said that, because they 'once' updated the game, you expect them to do it every time?

Look at a lot of other MMORPGs, how many REAL updates (so not including patches and fixes) do they get?

Great... thanks for making me look like a schmuck.

But it was the excuse used with Temple of Senntisten. They had an issue with the Curses and it was delayed a day, we asked for something to hold us over a day. I even wanted just the name, but many people wanted the skill requirements, but Mod Emilee said no due to people wanting them ahead of time for all the quests.

The player-base is used to getting updates on a weekly/biweekly basis. So should you be Steiner :shame:

Guess Mod Mark took a bit of liberty there then.

You know what would've been a proper substitution to show they don't have utter comtempt for us? How about the BTS 2010 that we've been anticipating? That could've given us something to talk about.

Or does that put them under stress to release things that year so they get rushed? :^_^:

Runescape players are just spoiled, I mean really spoiled, and this is what Jagex gets in return?

And I prophecised how much those upgrades would lead to a lackluster year. It has. It was a bad year. Just compared to other years, it is the lowest.

For you maybe, I haven't really noticed a difference this year, in fact some of the updates have been pretty awesome!

Yes, some have. Too few. The majority of the updates, especially during the first half of the year, were downright bleah. Most of it boring, too much of it just throw-away or filler.

That's true. Fortunately we did get some pretty nice updates at the end of the year, though. I'm not mad that they haven't released as many updates this year because it has caused me to play less and less. Most things on Runescape are too boring for me, so I pretty much only play for new content.

On a topic that's talking about twitter updates. And there is little going on at twitter to talk about, so we chose this topic, but no, it's not the original topic of the thread.
