June 25, 200917 yr Heya, For the past 3-4 weeks, I've been getting these 1-800 calls. We donated money to the Veterans, and now they won't stop calling us. We get about 5-6 of their calls daily. And that is NO exaggeration. We've told them nicely, we told them VERY angerly to STOP calling here. I even blasted "Burning Flag" by Marilyn Manson, and they still talk to us like nothing happend. Were ignoring their calls 90% of the time. But they just won't...stop... Does anyone have advice on what I should say? ...Or should I blast a heavier song? #-o EDIT: had the wrong song  changed
June 25, 200917 yr Do you know their political leanings? If so, you can go off on the opposite platform saying you support that and they might just leave you alone altogether. and/or if that does not work Tell them to put you on the "do not call list" and if they call you back again(you can see where I am going here)........ Quote - Revenge is such a nasty thing that only breeds more vengeful souls, but in some situations revenge does not even need to be sought out, but only bided.
June 25, 200917 yr You can/should block all 1800 numbers. Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

We've told them to not call us again like everytime we answered. :P And said we just can't donate anymore.
June 25, 200917 yr I've been getting a lot of 1-800 calls too lately :? I used to answer them, but then there would be nobody there so I just stopped.
June 25, 200917 yr Does your telephone company have a block feature? Mine does. I have to dial * something then the number and it will block the number.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.
June 25, 200917 yr Do Not Call List Ask to be put on their company no-call list. Regardless of wether or not you sign up for the Do Not Call List, if companies continue to call you after your explicit warning, it's considered harassment and the company can be fined for up to $16,000. Though, the NDNCL doesn't cover charities so the first link may not help with this specific company.
June 25, 200917 yr Maybe your government has a "Do not call list" too. I know here in New-Brunswick Canada there is such a list that the government put in place to stop those calls.
June 25, 200917 yr I don't know what the rules are for the "do not call" list ... but I do know that in general, it's meant for random telemarketers. What you have here is a call from a company with whom you have a "previous business relationship". Meaning money changed hands, or you gave them your phone number. And as far as I know, they are allowed to harass you until the end of time. :( The sad thing about charities in the United States is that their fund drives by mail and so on are run by professional fundraising companies (who, incidentally, get to keep a large part of the money for themselves). You donated to the veterans to do a nice thing, and now they won't stop. There's a modern proverb about this: "no good deed goes unpunished." I was debating giving up my land line because several friends have done so. With a cell phone there's not much need for both. What finally settled it in my mind was realising that the only calls that came on the landline anymore were from random telemarketers and the local newspaper (I cancelled my subscription 7 years ago.) And keep in mind, I had an unlisted unpublished number, so it was not available to anyone, anywhere. Condolences to you and your family. Change your phone number. Lol. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
June 25, 200917 yr We have the samp problem at our house. We just ignore them, but it does get annyoing after a while. Might want to try blocking then number if possible. June 25, 200917 yr Maybe your government has a "Do not call list" too. I know here in New-Brunswick Canada there is such a list that the government put in place to stop those calls. Laura posted it in the post before yours. I can confirm that putting your name on the do not call registry will stop the phone calls(edit:If they're for the veterans of foreign wars society, which is who i got a lot of phone calls from), although it may take a while(up to 31 days). https://www.donotcall.gov/
June 25, 200917 yr Author We've asked so many times not to call back and to be on their no caller list, they still continue to call.
June 25, 200917 yr We've asked so many times not to call back and to be on their no caller list, they still continue to call.Press charges, then.
June 25, 200917 yr Sorry to bust your bubble, but:*Reminder: Even if your number is registered, companies with which you do business may continue to call you. So may charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors. Click Here for more information about the companies that may continue to call the numbers on the registry. I really wouldn't know what to do there. Good thing there are no such people (war veterans or tele-marketers) in Costa Rica. Threaten to follow with other legal procedures? June 25, 200917 yr unfortunately i believe i read somewhere that if you get finanicially involved with an organization they can call you for some awful amount of time... i think something like 18 months my mother once used her monotone-voice powers to make a message saying our phone had been disconnected, and it fooled many people... perhaps if you could do this then they'd give up. if you have no money to pay for phone service obviously you wouldn't be up for donating to them.

Trust me, they'll never call again. I've never had a telemarketer actually answer me when I ask what they are wearing "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."Abraham Lincoln
