What difficulty?

Insanity

God dang. Must be really hard.

It isn't that bad until you have to fight the husks. Everything else you can just Warp or Overload from cover and then pull them towards you when their shield/armor/barrier is down.

The stupidest thing you can do is that difficulty with Sentinel Class...You need Tech armor or your dead.

Anyways, I lost Jack on my first play through for end game. Had full loyalty to...

I haven't gotten off Freedoms Progress, then again, I started Yesterday on my second playthrough.

Also, if you haven't seen the ratings, here's link.

I also posted the main site on the front page.

Just beat the game today, didn't get a "perfect" ending though; regardless it was pretty awesome. I can't wait for ME3 now, going to be great.

Lost Garrus and Thane, daaaammmnniiit. I'm going to have to reload an earlier save and try to get a better ending.

I even had loyalty of everyone, it must've been the choices I made them do. Is there going to be a 12th character at all? There seems to be space to the right of Jack for somebody else.

Just out of curiosity how many of you that have beaten the game decided to save the facility? I decided to destroy it, but after seeing that ending.. Might've been a bad choice.

Yay for avoiding this topic since July so I don't see any spoilers.

Finished my second playthrough of ME2, first time through went paragon female soldier Shepard on normal difficulty and second time through went renegade male adept Shepard on hardcore difficulty (started on insanity but gave up, probably could have done it had I not chose the stupidest extra power possible). Both were from ME1 saves (only difference was male Shepard was a sentinel instead of adept).

Ended up with a save of both profiles with no losses of teammates. In the renegade playthrough I did let the Normady's crew die rather than send a teammate back with them since it was the renegade option, even though there is really no reason at all you couldn't spare a teammate at that point. I guess unless you decided not to finish the game before you went into the suicide mission.

There are a few factors that determine whether or not your teammates will live through the suicide mission, and it is really easy to get them all to live. You just want the loyalty of all of them (the main storyline is like 25% of the game, if you don't gain their loyalty before the final mission you are missing most of the game), make sure to ask them about upgrades and do those upgrades, then choose the right people during the final mission. The very first time I played the suicide mission I didn't know what the factors were that determined who lived and died, actually because of ignoring all talk about the game the only thing I knew was that Shepard could die. So when my teammates started dying I felt horrible. I ended up losing three and it felt like I was letting them down. Then I found out that who you choose to do what at the end does matter. I had all the loyalty/upgrades already, however I just chose who I liked to do certain parts and that was not a smart thing to do. So I went back and did it again (save early, save often) and made logical choices with no problems. One combo that works is letting Legion do the pipes, Garrus for second team leader both times, Jack for the biotic barrier and anyone for the crew escort. There are many combos though. And if someone dies who was good for that job it might be the other choice that causes them to fail. Example: myfirst playthrough Legion died after doing the pipes because I had Tali as second team leader, since they had collectors on their tail when the first doors were closing a stray shot got in and blew his head off. This would happen regardless of who went through the pipes if you chose a wrong second team leader. If you chose a right second team leader and a wrong pipe person, this would also happen.

All that is an educated guess from basic understanding of how games work, I am almost positive it is correct.

I really did enjoy ME2, but I liked ME1 better. So far I am the only one who enjoyed the fighting better in the first, a few have complained about the new skill system and I liked the first one of that also, I am disappointed with the lack of the MAKO in this game (I put the monument in front of it as significant gesture) and I actually enjoyed the main story in the first one more. I know that last part is weird, I think it has to do with this game mostly being side missions and the first game having more to the main mission. This game seems to be mostly set up for ME3, which is fine by me. There are a few things I enjoy more in ME2: the characters are much more fleshed out, and I was trying to list more but they all are subsets of that first item. First up, Mordin is the best character in any game ever. I had him in my team the entire first playthrough as soon as I got him (literally every single mission thereafter). Yvonne Strahovski? Yes please! Joker + Six was also great. The engineers were hilarious, I even went back to an earlier save a few times when I accidentally screwed up one of their talks. Then just the variety, twice as many teammates as the first game, everyone a different species (besides for the humans). Just remembered something else I like more about ME2, the actual side side missions are better.

how do i increase their loyalty? talking to them?

Do their missions that they whine about. "Waah! I miss daddy!" "Waaah! I miss my sister! "Waaah! I miss my son!" Seriously, an entire team capable of handling their own crap and we have to do it for them or they'll die at the end.

You have to recruit all of them, then they will want to talk to you afterward at some point, then you will get their loyalty mission. You can get their loyalty mission right away and not worry about doing it for a while, there is no time limit. So make sure you don't do both Miranda's and Jack's until you have at least 80% paragon/renegade. I never use Jack so I just wait to do hers until right before the IFF mission. Oh and make sure you have everyone's loyalty and finished all the missions you want to do before the IFF mission, since there isn't time to do more than two in between that and the end mission.

Earlier today I did that part but was just a little short on paragon points, so I lost Jack's loyalty. From there I found that if you come back with max paragon or renegade you can get her (could be either Jack or Miranda I assume) loyalty back. If you need more points but have plenty of element zero you can class change to the class that gives a higher paragon/renegade boost (in my case, bastion instead of nemesis).

And from there I got the No Man Left Behind achievement \:D/

I actually felt bad being paragon to TIM, he spent [bleep] tons of money on bringing you back from the dead, and while he obviously has other motives he is the only one in power who was doing something about the reaper threat. I liked the renegade options better also.

The illusive man has a real G-man vibe to him, that's for sure.

Anyone know any easy way to get a bunch of platinum? Mining is boring and I'm at a point where I need to get a bunch of upgrades for people.

Get the Normandy II's mining upgrade and skip over any planet that has less than a "Good" minerals rating. You'd be wasting time on Moderate or lower.

You're wasting your time on good planets too. Only mine if it is a rich planet. You can do it fast too, drag your mouse back and forth quickly until you see a big bump (don't take anything but the biggest) then go to it, spin the planet about a fourth and do it again. 4 or 5 probes per rich planet and you will have more than enough for every upgrade needed.

To put it in perspective there is something like over 2million of each resource, and you only need around 270k of each. On your second playthrough you start with 50k of each, and you only need a total of around 40k to get every eezo upgrade, so that you never have to mine for.

So, my 2 day old Mass Effect 2 decides to say 'Disc unreadable' every time I kill the 2nd occulus. FML.

Any other games getting it? If so, your Xbox may have problems with its DVD Drive.
