Seriously I used to be really shy. I just read alot and eventually grew into what I was reading. I read books, watched movies, watched other people, not really trying to learn or copy anything but after awhile you just start to pick things up subconsciousley(SP?). Like I watched Scarface about 70 times because I absolutely loved the movie. The main character is a hyper aggressive, cocky guy and I noticed I was starting to get that way. The point is not that you should start copying stuff and trying to be like anybody else its that eventually you'll start to change and grow out of it and its more unintentionally then it is your own doing. More than half of the relationships I know my friends started don't even last for 2 months. If you like a certain girl, go ask her. Don't be desperate, get to know some girls in a friendly manner, but don't go explicitly looking for a girlfriend at your age, only ask someone out if you really like them. zeekyhbomb Posted September 17, 2005 Share Posted September 17, 2005 god same 'problem' here :? last year I had a friend that I REALLY liked and still do, but I'm shy too, now we go to different schools :? and I wasn't sure if she liked me back and if she said no, wow, that would have hurt :( but I'm pretty sure she did due to a few reasons, we always talked and whenever we see eachother we still say hi etc. but thats just friend stuff, we said 'I love you' :P but hell thats what everybody at my school did with their friends :shock: we shared chairs and hung out blah blah blah, yeah maybe basic stuff, but hell I thought it might be something.... enough rambling, so yeah if you think you have a chance, then go for the plunge, I should have... now I still like her a ton but have no clue what to do about it and it almost makes me feel sick :? GIVE ME ADVICE PLEASE! I'M DESPERATE! I'm exactly the same way, although I think I'm starting to see the light after seeing the advice others have given. I'm kind of annoyed at myself for caving to the pressure of others to get a girlfriend, although I never did get one. At one point it felt like my insides were going to rip themselves apart from the pressure of the desire that wasn't even mine. Now its something thats in the back of my mind that I don't think about too often, but I still seem to lack the ability to start a conversation with any girl with whom I feel there might be something in the future. I used to be kinda like you (still am too) but I got in the same kind of crowd as my friend did. We all go to movies and skating and such, and eventually you'll find friends or acquaintances (sp?) you can ask out. Then just be yourself and don't screw up (ie don't hunch at your first slow dance. :P ). But don't try too hard either, because then you'll end up being really akward. And don't be afraid if she is really clingy and you're not, because that bit will come naturally, and is O.K. so long as it leads to nothing more...serious (unless you're in for that sort of thing). Pretty much all I can say. But if you're like really shy and have ZERO friends at all, and people make fun of you, then all I have to say is you're screwed until you move. :( Sorry about that. handed me TWO tissues to clear up.
