sadukar123
Jagex has a no item return policy and everyone should know that, if you are stupid enough to carry around your bank when testing a new update then you deserve to lose it, Runescape updates are always full of bugs like this. What's next? New content with bugs that wipes all your stats? "If you are stupid enough to try new content, you deserve is to lose your exp" Do you realize that what you said is probably the most outrageous claim in this thread? It's like telling someone not to withdraw all their cash from the bank and walk around the streets in a high crime area. And you respond with "oh what.. you could get killed there. Bauke
This is the reason why I don't go check out new stuff immediately. I just don't want to risk my account for the occasional change of an odd bug that was left unnoticed while testing. It happens too often that updates are released with unacceptable bugs. Sure, it is usually fixed quite fast, but, as in this case, the damage is already done. Zepheras
It's definitely more frequent nowadays. Ever since the HD update, we've had several serious game crash, like the server update to fix the movement problem whereby you run around a few extra squares whenever you change direction, the game crashed immediately after that movement update. Then the game crashed again during the rest and energy update. Seems like game updates nowadays affect other areas of the game due to certain coding and whatsnot. :wall: "Do you really want to go back to the time when Falador was grey, lesser demon look like goats, dragons look like cows, hellhound look like cats and your character stands as stiff as a statue?" -F1775

Even though it should not happen, it still happens.. so the best action you can take as a player is to protect yourself from potential bugs by being smart about what you carry with you. I'm implying that you should keep your valuables in the bank while you try out a new update, that is all. We should not expect a faulty product- but it happens often enough to warrant being careful. So why run the risk of losing your items by carrying them with you when it is completely unnecessary? It's not our responsibility to put our items away- in fact, we shouldn't have to. And yes, it is JaGEx's fault that we lost our items, because they didn't fix the bugs in the first place.. The reality of the situation though is that stuff like this happens, so why take that risk? If you want to be a martyr for the cause of getting bugs fixed, go ahead and be my guest. Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! All are welcome! Wow, maybe i should add some sarcasm signs next time. I didn't agree with low gravity's statement, that's why I made that 'stupid' statement. What i mean is that you shouldn't be feared if you try a new update, that's stupid. New content should be bugproof. And yes, that's a high standard, but if someone looses 350 MILLION, it's really crazy that he doesn't get a refund. I mean, Jagex knows he lost it. Jagex can track accounts. And if noone is going to play new content for the first few weeks, because they are scared of bugs, how do the bugs get found out? Wait 2 weeks...etc etc #-o + Saxon is right :P
sadukar123
Bug proof is almost impossible. Something along the line of "NO HUGE CATASTROPHIC BUGS" is more reasonable. Minor problems like wrong text, or you get no points for DOING A SPECIFIC THING that's incredibly hard to find is alright. When people start losing items or cannot get into a game at all, this becomes a huge problem. Lunar_Drifter
I'm glad we agree, sadukar. :) And metuhl, some hint at sarcasm would've been good. I'm usually good at picking sarcasm up online, but I saw no signs so took it as you being serious. ;) As for refunds, you know how it would go.. give one person a refund and suddenly get bombarded with demands for refunds. And when JaGEx doesn't give them refunds, they'll get bombarded with a second wave calling them unfair, scammers, noobs, idiots.. "we pay we say" crap. Laura
I'm implying that you should keep your valuables in the bank while you try out a new update, that is all. We should not expect a faulty product- but it happens often enough to warrant being careful. So why run the risk of losing your items by carrying them with you when it is completely unnecessary? The problem with that, even if you blame the company, is that you're criminalizing the victim. If I lost all the work that I put into my account I would demand a refund or at least a return of items lost. Should they deny my claim I would take action through third parties (as I have a years worth of membership). Would I expect any form of compensation through these means? Of course not but it shows the company that customers do take their data seriously. I would do the same for any bit of software that caused me to lose hours worth of data. Why should a game be any different?
