That's a bit biased, taking tips on how jagex runs their polls kaida? So I'll add this- like this post if you don't want it changed.     Just playing devils advocate.

  • There will obviously be a huge arena, just like the Colosseum in italy, and server with a capasity to hold 10k players, then, suomi is in the middle of the arena, 10k people sitting on the seats, then,

  • From the data we have so far, it appears that anyone who is capable of achieving 200m in all skills would be overcome by their ego and then fail to get the final xp.   As of right now, it looks like i

Who is gonna be first to 2x 200M all skills? :D

Only 25 skills in rs atm.

Alkan you used a lot of treasure hunter keys last weekend for div xp, but never mentioned it anywhere on forums or videos, why not?

That is just sick

This is seriously a huge slap in the face for those of us who like to run laps and who have put effort towards training one of the hardest skills that was left. I've been training agility the past 5 months and now I pretty much wasted all that time since 200m agility takes no time at all now. I guess I will just buy the remaining 55m xp that I need and finish 200m asap just because I want it done and to have one final top page skill rank.

first page agility was almost full before they removed f2p so u not in top page :c just wait till they will bring back f2pers again:)

You do realize that in a game like RS, these sorts of things-- the devaluation of previous achievements-- are completely inevitable, right?

I think his main gripe is that it springs from a pay-to-win mechanic rather than an actual training content.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Ah. Then this just leads to the debate that was going on a few days ago before Quy shut it down :P

I suspect this wouldn't be such a big deal if microtransactions existed from the start though...

77yLQy8.png

Yes but you'd expect it to be on a gradual thing, e.g. through an increased xp/hr agility course at the new elven city, not through something like this.

Kind of mind blowing how far things have come tbh... remember when people were [bleep]ing when RAF was first introduced that it was too p2w. Kinda sad.

Asmodean <3

Jagex is pretty smart (and arguably sadistic) if you think about it though. All it takes is one Jmod to read this thread and be like, "Turns out agility xp is EXTREMELY valuable to these guys! Let's sell it via microtransactions and get rich! They'd be insane NOT to accept this offer!"

77yLQy8.png

If they were smart they'd realize people who are going to p2w will pay for a much lower boost in agility/hr than this gives, allowing them to squeeze more money from people before they hit 200m. This is a pretty retarded way of going about it, not that that's the point...

Asmodean <3

Right but they probably don't know how low the boost can be in order to still get people to buy. If they're smart, then they've been tracking these things since day 1. This would also suggest that future agility deals won't be as generous as this one is

The day where it is no longer taboo to buy xp is the day that Jagex really starts raking in the cash though

If this promotion proves to be popular enough they might just extend it like the Slayer promotion we had last year :P

I thought he mentioned that he did 50/50 paying

so he is also spending alot of irl cash

idk why someone would spend thousands of dollars for a game lol

same reason why someone would spend thousand of hours on a game. not sure what the big deal is, it's basically the same thing.

Casinos. 'Nuff said.

if anyone here browses /DIY/ you've probably seen bunker anon

He says he has made his money playing poker and he made a killing

Just amuses me looking back at the Effigy nerf because Jagex felt that "you shouldn't gain exp while not actually training the skill".

We all freaked out at how much effigies ruined skilling, kind of funny seeing where we are now from that.

Yeah I totally agree.

I compare this update to make effigies tradeable, except the dragonkin lamps can only be used for agility.

Funny enough, the Effigy nerf came 14 days before SoF release, which buyable spins came 1 month after that. Effigies were not nerfed because of their reasons, they were nerfed to make buyable exp more attractive to players.

I think what has happened, especially with "game breaking updates" like this, is that we have been used  to the influence of SoF. If on day one, it was buyable spins, and we'd have AFKGility boots etc, there'd have been a much bigger uproar, but because we have been exposed to the wheel (ok ok, sorry, "chests") for sometime now, we are (as an overall population) less likely to be majorly pissed off about the update. Will there be people are pissed beyond comprehension? Sure - a number have already posted. But overall I think people will see this as a great addition, regardless of it being on the wheel, because a) AFKgility and b) we have come to accept the wheel as part of the game.

[bleep] OFF HOW ARE U SO [bleep]ING LUCKY U PIECE OF [bleep]ING SHIT [bleep] [bleep] [wagon] MUNCHER

That's the exact reason they did it in stages. They didn't want to make everyone quit right off the bat, they wouldn't have made nearly as much $$$ if that happened. It was all a master plan by Jagex, releasing it one step at a time.

Yes, that is what I was alluding to.

The concept of the update itself isn't that terrible imo, it is just very over-powered and the fact that one of the slowest/most intensive skills in the game is now buyable/afk for very high gains.

I would much more ok with this update if the feathers were non-tradeable. If that was the case, people would have to buy more spins from Jagex for more xp anyways, plus the skill would be less ruined. Seems like a win-win to me..

A method that makes sense would be boots only work with training agility, you only get feathers from either completing a lap of a course, or just training any other skills (though that method could get annoying depending on what you are training) But that would be no profit for jagex. They have good ideas but sadly they must implement some sort of money making method for themselves in each promotion.

Many of these "promotions" could easily been game content added. But why add content for free when you can sell it to us instead.

Guess all the agility courses will become a decoration now just like all the rc altars did 2 years ago. Why even keep them in game?
