FunOrb Update != Runescape Update

Featured Replies

Well, this is the second time I've seen it. Instead of putting something on Runescape as an update, they make some news post for their other site as the highlight front-page update of Runescape. Why?! Shouldn't the Runescape updates show, I don't know, RUNESCAPE UPDATES? o.O

Advertising Fun Orb on Runescape to get Runescape players interested in Fun Orb makes plenty of sense to me. It's basically free advertising for Fun Orb, so it would be pretty silly not to do it. It certainly doesn't cause any harm.

It's Jagex's website and they can do with it as they please. If they want to advertise their other gaming website on it then they are perfectly entitled to.

Sometimes I think there's no hope for the RuneScape community

Well no I'm just upset, as the site is for Runescape, why make it the main headline? They can't use one of the little things underneath like they do when they release something minor (like the Wallie card update)?

Sure, they could do that, but fewer people would read it. I'm sure Jagex wants as many people to read it as possible.

Not the first time they have advertised funorb, and not the last. Get used to it.

Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!

Why on earth does it upset you that Jagex, a business, wishes to advertise it's other facets in order to potentially make a little more money.

Besides when a new update is released it would knock the FunOrb post down anyway so i can see no real problem here at all.

You are upset

Seems someone's a tad angry.

Have you tried some of the games on there? Some are mighty fun.

On topic - Jagex has a right to advertise on their own sites. Actually it is genious because not many other minigame sites like Miniclip would advertise for a rival site. So it it really the only place they can advertise to a large number of players without having to pay enormous fees. Plus if you love Rs and Jagex, why wouldn't you at least try out one of their new games?

I agree it make them look like they've done something.

Gamertag: EFs Predator.

Games I play: Halo 3, Halo wars.

Does it in any way effect the way you play Runescape? If no, then why complain. If yes, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe see Dr.Phil?

I'm going to go with this. The lack of updates is getting really irritating.

They are perfectly entitled to advertise their own site every so often. It's the most cost effective advertising they could possibly do. The summer RS update 'drought' is an unrelated issue, since the sites are generally handled very separately.

Maybe it is? And this has all been some trick to throw us off guard.

Minor non-game-related updates often do get top billing. They simply sort them by time-order, and if they release a bunch simultaneously, they choose their own sort order.

You are upset

Best. Signature-post synergy. Ever.

This.

I do not remember a SINGLE skill release where Jagex went and released a game content update the week before (all the way back to farming - I was around for slayer but not reading the updates yet).

We figured out the construction release this way, because the Behind the Scenes for May '06 specifically said 'chairs you can sit on', and it was the 2nd last day of May with no update the last two weeks. (Off topic: Does anybody miss the simple Behind the Scenes monthly posts? The massive blog volume now is just annoying in my opinion...)

Here are a list of all of the weeks skipped by Jagex in the recent past:

04 + 25 August 2009 - figure an epic update for skipping two weeks?

29 Jun 2009 - Mobilising Armies came out the next week

10 Mar 2009 - Next week release was quest PLUS route-tracker server upgrading

03 + 17 Feb 2009 - Soul Wars

02 Dec 2008 - 2 achievement diaries and PvP updates the next week

04 + 18 Nov 2008 - WGS and SC

08 Oct 2008 - PvP world introduction

07 + 21 Jul 2008 - RS HD introduction

24 Mar 2008 - "Summoning 2"

08 Jan 2008 - Summoning

21 Aug 2007 - God Wars

01 Mar 2007 - ...?

14 Dec 2006 - Hunter

11 Oct 2006 - Skillcapes

24 May 2006 - Construction

There are about four more that I found dating back up to three years - oddly enough, all of them are before free-play updates.

The evidence clearly shows that after skipped weeks in terms of updates, the next week is usually something pretty sizable (or maybe a freeplay update too). Either way, it makes little sense to me to complain about these things - it's usually a cause of a bit of excitement for me =P

Well its week 2 with no update or cryptic twitter hint. Either there is something big on the way, or Jagex really did it this time #-o

Really hoping that it is the 1st

Jagex has pushed many updates to Wednesdays before - somebody also said it was a bank holiday in the UK so we shouldn't expect anything until tomorrow at least.

(Hoping for Weds because I have more time then :D )

It's not the fact that an update didn't come on Monday, but they didn't post anything on twitter this weekend or today, which they usually do before an update.
