Mourning Ends. Part 2

Well, once I get 65 runecrafting, I will be crafting deaths, and since I will have to do the whole Elf quest-line (only done underground pass) I was wondering why everyone is so scared of MEP2.

Thanks,

I wrote a Tips and Tricks guide about MEP2. Maybe it will help.

I suppose it would be the agility obstacles which would get frustrating. When I did MEP II, I already had 71 agility, and combined with a guide I found it really easy. Though if you don't use a guide, the puzzles are pretty difficult. Only difficult part was choosing which way to put the mirrors in, becuase the tip it guide's description confused me.

To be honest, people really overplay the agility obstacle. I had no problem with it at 60 agility. I haven't tested this thoroughly, but it seems having 100% energy when you attempt the obstacle helps you get across. The other part that people hate about this quest is the whole light puzzle with the mirrors. This is complicated by the fact that you'll be attacked over and over again while you're trying to solve it. The shadows that attack you aren't too strong though, just annoying.

It's the same reason that for the first three days Olaf's quest was so hard. You aren't making one level 60 agility check. You are making EIGHT of them.

And you have to go at least two times, with the guide. I went something more like five times.

The quest is more confusing then hard even with a guide I had a bit of trouble, I only had 64 agility when I did it and it still wasn't that bad. I would agree that 100% energy does help because thats what it seemed to me, so you should take a dip in the salt pool from As a First Resort, you'll need it for running around anyways.

Just some advice before you do each part look carefully at the map and instructions if you plan on using a guide before you do it step because it will help. Have fun when you get to it and good luck.

The hard part(unless it's been fixed recently which i truly doubt) is using Tip It or Hq's flawed guides. Both have an error in(different errors each) or at least did for a year or more, use another guide or use multiple guides. I used both of their guides at the time and managed to piece together enough to get through. Don't know why they didn't fix it when it had to have been reported multiple times, know it messed up some of my friends quite badly(and that was fairly recently). I'd reccomend trying a guide from one of the other good sites(Sal's, Wiki, Village, Zybez, etc.)

Those errors should have been fixed already, if not please submit them in the Website Updates & Corrections forum.

The hardest parts about the quest that if you do it with low agility you fail a lot, and the whole light puzzle part was confusing when I did it (a few years ago)

I personally ended up using youtube for the light puzzle because Tip.it and RuneHQ both had different images for what the mirror looks like in game. It was updated even so, so they were both wrong and ultimately confusing.

Youtube also paid off because somewhere in both the guides they failed to tell a vital step, which I caught on to when I couldn't go any further.

I did myself do the MEP II not too long ago. The thing that I found the hardest within it was that you had to figure out that some pillars that you couldn't reach had a gem inside them. The only way to find this out was to simply try sending light through all of these pillars. And that wasn't easy.

But if you just keep trying and keep it logical, you will do good. So good luck with the questing!

The guide was right when i originally wrote it for tip.it. However a poorly checked error submission did cause a door to get changed from pink to blue for a bit, then that was fixed.

Then jagex changed the mirror interface; which rendered alot of instruction of how to direct the light beams a bit muddled. but that too got fixed.

The light and mirrors puzzle is a pain. Mostly because of the shadows, because they hit hard and often, so you have to bring really good food or pray near-constantly. I say NEAR constantly because there are a fair few safe to mostly-safe spots scattered about. Especially near stairs XD I wonder why... Also there are spinning blades. If you stand an equal distance between either pair, since no shadows spawn there, you're safe.

I suggest bringing a decent weapon (especially one with a prayer bonus) to get the shadows off your back temporarily. Sometimes it's faster to kill them than to play hide and seek.

Also, when doing the final bit, if you HAVE a death tali/tiara (or better, an omni tali/tiara), BRING IT.That way you don't have to remember to flip the mirror so you can get back in (if you tele out, which I did.) If you DON'T flip the mirror back, you'll have to do the last part of the puzzle aaaaaaaaaaall over again. XD DX It wasn't actually that hard, though, since I had already done it. It was just a serious *headdesk* moment when I cracked the teletab and then looked over at the mirror as I teled and went 'DAMN IT!'

Balance may be power, but chaos is still pretty damn fun.

It was because of this, the first time I ventured to RuneHQ for a quest guide. D:

I remember doing this at 60 agility, back before the days of enchanted excalibur, resting, etc... And without pots too :)

I spent all day on it, but falling that many times just gave me a good view of the puzzle (Which wasn't that hard... really...)

So no, temple of light isn't that hard, just pot up to the requirements and bring a lot of summer pies :)

Underground pass with 54 agility was much harder than this with 60, so meh...
