mlclm
Just pay it and be glad he didn't arrest you. It's your own fault for being an idiot and bringing an open container in a car.Arrest me for what? For drinking underage. Seriously, just pay it and be done with it. Trying to plead it down will just result in a bigger annoyance for you. That's only a ticket and they will give you a ride home if you need.Oh, I didn't see you're in Canada. In the US you can get arrested for underage drinking.
tylersk8shop
no sympathy. you were drinking under the age of majority. a decision made by people who are borderline stupid. you could of done a lot with that 360 dollars...The majority of people at this age drink. And the $360 isnt the end of the world lol, I make fairly decent money. Was worth seeing if I could get away with it though. Honestly having a beer in a car isn't that big of a deal, No ones getting harmed. 128+ Combat \\ 1900+ Total Level \\ 85M+ EXP5,999th To 99 Woodcutting Achieved June 27, 200766,931st To 99 Strength Achieved January 23rd, 2009Draconic Visage: 1+ \\ DK Drops: 169+ \\ GWD Drops: 74+
Althalus
Seriously, you should know the law. If you did you would've finished the beer before you got into the car. Also (I don't know how this works in Saskatchewan) in British Columbia an open alcohol ticket is only $115 (if you're of legal drinking age). There's also an additional $58 for minor in possession (bringing it up to $173). That's no where near the $360 you received so there's more to the story unless Saskatchewan has harsh liquor laws. A ticket is supposed to teach you a lesson. I'm going to guess that if you have to pay $360 over a beer in public you won't be doing it again anytime soon unless you're an asshat. tylersk8shop
you may actually be able to get it thrown out since the date is wrong. It's happened lot's before, Even with .08's, So I might get lucky. And the cops said it JUST doubled from $180 to $360, I think its a little much. And only way I'll do it again is on booze cruises if someone else takes 360 lol. 128+ Combat \\ 1900+ Total Level \\ 85M+ EXP5,999th To 99 Woodcutting Achieved June 27, 200766,931st To 99 Strength Achieved January 23rd, 2009Draconic Visage: 1+ \\ DK Drops: 169+ \\ GWD Drops: 74+
Zierro
(No, Basically whats the hype over alcohol, why drink it if you get into trouble: i know it may give off some good effects but seriously... How does it help you in the long run?) It doesn't. The point of drinking is usually because you don't care about the long run. I can't say I fully agree with that, but I do believe in living for the day. You can get the best education in the world - never go to parties, always study, be an academic over-achiever. You can build the perfect future for yourself by struggling throughout your entire youth. Then you finally get your college degree. You get shot. All of your hard work was in vain. While you could have been having fun, you were working towards the long run and the long run never came. On the other hand, burning out too fast isn't very desirable either. There is a chance that you'll live into your 80's, so if you throw your life away as a kid then you are wasting years that way too. Not only that, but drinking in the name of living for the day can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, since alcohol accounts for a large number of deaths. I try and take the best of both worlds. Doing bad things but using moderation.

Jeffwilson99
I still don't get it, why is it illegal to have an open container of alcohol in a car? I could understand if he ticketed you for underage drinking, but I can't see the problem with passengers drinking in a car with a sober driver... Because the potential is that the passenger is merely "holding" the beer for the driver. It's a no tolerance policy. That still makes no sense. If the police suspect the driver of driving under the influence, then they should perform a breath test or blood test. And for every calling the OP an idiot, or that he shouldn't have been drinking underage, you guys need to grip a grip. Sure, if he was complaining about being done for underage drinking, that wuold be fine, but a 360 dollar ticket (in Canadian dollars too)for having an open can of beer in a non liquour ban area is completely riddiclous! Range_This11
Drinking and driving is moronic. And, honestly, drinking is somewhat moronic to me. It doesn't matter if "everyone is doing it", having an open container in a car is just asking for it really. Bloodstain
And, honestly, drinking is somewhat moronic to me. Eh, I don't enjoy it (oddly though I can think really clearly when I do drink), but I can see why most people would.
depresins
Hex, sheesh. In 10 years, you'll know. Anyway, did he give you a breathalyzer ? No. So, you were under the BAC limit when you were in the car. Just that you had a beer in your hand. This seems screwed. It doesn't matter if he was breath tested or not. Having an open container of alcohol in a public place unless otherwised licenced is against the law. Living in Sydney, I'd figured you'd have been pinged for it
____
Pay the fine and be done with it. If you fight it, that ticket MIGHT get throw out, yes, and it could probably create more issues for you. While the judge may throw out the initial ticket, he/she could get you for under-age drinking (easily done since you had an open bottle in public) and he might push for lighter sentence if you turn in who you get the alcohol off, then they get hit for supplying alcohol to a minor. If the cop really wanted to be a [bleep] about it, he could've gone through all that at the time, then you'd be looking at a lot worse than $360 fine. You are aware that you were drinking alcohol (not alcohol) and you were underage. That is enough to get you a ticket. pfilc23
As with any ticket (assuming it does not require a court appearance), you can write a letter in attempt to reduce the fine. Admit your guilt, apologize, promise to never do it again, explain your financial circumstances and request a reduction in fine..often it will be reduced by half. But if the incorrect date thing doesn't work out than there's really no way of fighting something like that. However, I have heard of writing in to get your fine reduced working before, like pfilc said. Lionheart_0
Yo ladies, how about you all cool it. 1. Drinking under the age of 19 makes you underaged b& for the law. Deal with it.2. Protip: Drink in a friend's house, in a bar (lol see point 1) , designated areas, or don't drink at all. Drinking in undesignated areas(public, car) will just get you into problems. For Hex: Yes, sure you can't get what drinking is about, cool stuff. Fortunately some of us are mature enough here to see how it is an okay social activity, with almost zero negative impact.
