People think that the spellbook thing would be development tools but I think this is totally unlikely. The game is developed with in-house tools so there wouldn't be a need for in-game ones. I think it's possible that they are play-testing tools on beta worlds, but I prefer to think it's a spellbook =P.

Seen it a couple months back, very interesting indeed. :o I'd like to know where and when the Water Troll will get implemented. Some people suggest either the next pirate quest or the Eastern Lands (or both!), and although there's little to back up that claim it does sound good :D That the Trolls will get a graphical makeover has been known for a while, since the Undead Trolls encountered in WGS also had a new look.

It's not a new spellbook, I paused the video and analyzed it and I saw the bones to bananas/peaches spell... I highly doubt it's a new spellbook.

Wow, it surprised me how fast that new content was build.

It was sped up though. Ever seen those speed drawing things on youtube? that might have taken an hour for all we know.

I think the surroundings kinda looked like an area that could be south of port phasmaties.

Just another interesting thing I noticed. I was leafing through the images that Jagex provided to tip.it and this one in particular really stood out to me.

The architecture of the buildings in this picture are pretty much identical to that of the building being designed in the video. I think whatever we're seeing in the video is the in-game version of the concept art. That said, the obvious fishing town theme only leads to connect the monster to the town. Looking at the sketch of the town in the concept art, there appears to be an east-facing peninsula on the north-side with a watchtower on it. Given that geography, I can't see any place on the map as of now where this village will fit logically, so it is likely to be a separate island which again brings us back to the pirate quests.

I'd agree with that. Probably a new more eastern land, but not the eastern lands. Even that architecture has a similar feel to that of traditional asian fishing villages, so I think it fits extraordinarily well. There is mention to a goblin cave in the picture, but I'd assume goblins are a universal thing in Runescape =P

Even an hour seems very fast for content to be created.

I agree with the comments from people saying it's linked to the tip.it concept art. It's something that I thought to myself when I first saw the video and picture quite some time ago now.

 

I don't however think we should spend time trying to link the landscape we saw in the video with any content past, present or future in-game. I got the impression it was just to show off their dev tools, creating land, raising bits, creating a lake, colouring the textures ect, rather than showing off any future content. Unfortunately the interviewer didn't give MMG a chance to talk us through how it looked when plonked in a game (test) world.

 

The boat thing in the concept art also looks to me like a paddle steamer and those had nothing to do with asian fishing colonies, at least not the ancient ones the eastern lands are supposed to represent. Pirates are a possibility yes, but it doesn't looks like the kind of place Ak-Haranu would come from.

So how are "water" trolls different from "river" and "sea" trolls?

This video holds some more secretive things than I had previously thought. I only just noticed this now and to my knowledge I'm the only one who's found it.

 

Pause the video at 15:09. Hidden behind Mark Gerhard you can see what appears to be a new spellbook.

Edit: Regarding the troll, it's a pretty intimidating thing. Definitely a boss battle I'd say. It takes it's weapon and armor obviously from a shipwreck, and later in the video you can see them designing what appears to be a seaside town, so I'm thinking the two could be linked. Maybe a dungeon that one gains access to after/during a quest, similar to Corp beast.

Rabbid Jack perhaps? also lets not forget that Mad Doctor from "Great Brain Robbery" along with Barrelchest. perhaps there's a link between those.
