Amazing episode, could have really done more with the final church scene. It was way too cheesy and all the religious crap left a really bad taste in my mouth.

It was a great way to end a story. Not perfect, but better than I expected. Rest in peace, Lost.

I cried like the whole time. I LOVED Sayed and Shannon's reuniting, I was so angry that Shannon got killed off.

 

I was in shock when Jack laid down in the exact place he landed. And Vincent came running, this time not to help him survive, but to help him accept death.

 

Though basically no questions were answered, I loved this episode, and though I'm still a very new Lost fan, the pseudo nostalgia from Season 1 was so amazing. Couple things didn't make sense:

 

WHy did they include people in the alternate who weren't on the flight, but not all? Dr. Chang was there, Juliette was there, but Rousseau? etc.

 

Some burning questions that'll now never be answered:

Where did the statue come from Jacob lived in?

Wtf is MIB name >.<

And whether or not Claire was genuinely insane. Tbh I never thought she was. And wtf about that temple MIB destroyed? That episode confused me greatly.

I really agree with that idea that the 6 years was his delirium.

 

I was upset I never got to see Claire reunited with her baby after she flew off.

 

 

 

Nobody died in the crash, people. All six years were real. How else would they be together at the end? They wouldn't have known each other if the island experience hadn't happened. I thought they made that really obvious, what with all the flashes of life on the island . . .

 

 

But in any case, I thought the ending was beautiful. It couldn't have been better.

Well what I think happened is they all died, but all their spirits stayed and thats what bonded. Now of course that doesn't make much sense, sense they got off the island (at least some of them) but I think it's something along those lines.

I think everything that happened on the island was real and that this sideways story line was like Purgatory which at some point all their souls decided to wait for another before passing.

^ Exactly. Everything that happened on the island happened. In the end we don't know what happened to everyone but we do know that everyone died at some point. The people on the plane could have made it or they could have crashed right then and there, Hurley and Ben obviously made it well together for a while, and Jack died right there on the spot. The alternate story was purgatory in which all of the survivors led their lives until one day they all met and 'remembered.'

I've heard different speculations on why Ben did not go into the church. One could be that with all the bad things he has done he doesn't possibly have the mindset to move on. Another theory is that he is waiting behind for Alex to apologize. On the Jimmy Kimmel show afterward Michael (Harold something) said that his character was sort of doomed on the island to just whisper forever because of what he did.

 

Anyways, I thought it was a fantastic episode to end the show with although I can understand why some people are disappointed. If you went into this episode wanting answers then you were let down, but finally putting an end to all of the characters we have been watching for six years was really well done. Plus Jack v. Locke and that final scene with Jack in the jungle was totally epic.

Loved the Kimmel spoof on what all the characters are doing now. Smoke monster accidentally inhaled by Snoop Dogg hahaha.

Quoted for mother[bleep]ing truth. I'm kinda surprised at how many people don't seem to understand that everything that happened on the island was real. I mean, Christian really spelled it out.

 

It's great to think about what Hurley and Ben got up to. They could have lived for thousands of years.

 

Jack's death scene is just impossible to describe.

 

And the Kimmel alternate endings were great, especially the Survivor one haha.

I am in a pure bliss mood, screw answers. That was - beautiful. Such an elegant way to end the show, in my honest opinion.

 

Christian was the man with the proper answers. They are all dead at that point - whether its 1000s of years later. (Pointing to Ben and Hugo here, it sounds like their duty of the Island was amazing having turned it into a happy place.)

 

I felt at first I needed to know every damn little detail that was secret, but after watching this - it feels all so simple. I cried and with bloody no shame in doing so.

 

Farewell Lost, its been amazing.

It was a good season finale, not sure about series finale though. This season was the only time the flashes were into them being in purgatory, and it wrapped up that story pretty nicely, and it is a decent story to end the series on, but I was still pretty disappointed.

 

EDIT: My disappointment has been building for a quite a while, I don't think any of the series was as good as season 1 (season 4 was closer than the rest, and there were awesome episodes even in the midst of the worst runs of episodes), so this is really nothing new. I think I would have liked it more had the finale been more complicated, but it was all kind of spoon fed and nothing left to really wonder.

I like the first two. I think they're good when you know them because I had no idea what the last one was referring to so it just blew over my head.

You sound like you're basing that off the "they were all dead since the crash" interpretation, which is dead wrong. (Pun intended.) They didn't just decide to make everything a near-death delirium or some stupid crap just because they couldn't answer all the questions. As a matter of fact, 90% or more of the questions the show has ever posed have been answered, either explicitly or through implication. The rest is either irrelevant or intentionally left open-ended to make you think--what is the light, what would have happened had it gone out and MIB escaped the island, etc.

 

The only thing I can really fault the writers for, after it's all said and done, is Walt. That was a screwup. They may say that the Others took him because he had supernatural powers and they wanted to investigate him, then released him when he was too much to handle, but in a show where every other crazy thing that happens is somehow connected to the island, I expected him to have some larger significance than simply being some random kid with superpowers. They definitely should have thought about him growing up before they gave him crazy powers.

Should have been something like "what does the island do?????????" Then jacks dad be like "Rose tolld you when you landed" and everyone will be searching for years for the meaning L. punk'd by writers. Although that could be suggested the island brings loved ones together... so maybe a more obscure person.
