System updates are such a gaming buzz kill. Playstation should come up with a system so they download and install in the background.

 

I just got up, but I'm going to go start my download so maybe by lunch BF3 will be ready to go on my PS3.

probs, its anoying when you clear a room then they spawn in on it and kill you when you dont expect it ;_;

How large is the download file?

1.3 GB for xbox. I can only imagine more for PC. No clue about PS3.

Origin is literally a non-issue for it. The issue is the stupid battlelog that they insist on using.

 

 

Anyways been having some issues with the game today. Crashing a decent bit... usually before a match ends. Obviously something to expect from DICE lol; I do hope it is fixed soon though. I managed to get into one of the 64 player servers today too but it was so laggy that it was hard to do anything.

My gripes with Origin are partially in-line with why I hate when retail versions of games require Steam, despite the fact that I myself would want the Steam version anyway. People don't want to have another thing running just for one game. On top of that; Origin is a service rather than a program, it checks your installed programs and sends it to EA even if you don't want it to (it's part of the EULA.) The same is allegedly true for your browser history ([bleep] you EA, find your own [bleep]ing porn.)

 

My solution is to format my old HDD, grab a new PSU since mine can't handle all the [cabbage] I've got plugged in already, and dual-boot for the sole purpose of denying EA my goddamn data. If I can figure out how to build a program I'll pretty much give it a name to bash EA.

Anyways disregarding the paranoia bit Origin is still a non-issue. I have it added as a non-official game on steam, named it "battlefield 3" and thats it. You don't even use Origin for anything but to go to the battlelog. It's stupid that it requires something like that, and I would prefer a steam version, but I'm not about to just not play one of the best FPS games this year because I'm afraid Origin will see that I play a lot of starcraft or something.

I've been destroying in the matches I could play though. Went 37-8 on attack in a game earlier. It wasn't even fair for their team. Sniper class is the way to go. :thumbup:

No it overheated. Started doing that this summer and does it every time it's warmer than 20 degrees centigrade. :(

Okay, Origin isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

 

But it's still annoying to have. I don't mind Steam because it's the most popular PC gaming "client" (I can't think of another word) and it has tons of great sales and is generally great because a lot of my friends have it.

 

Origin is just....a nuisance. It's unnecessary since I'm only playing one game on it.

I managed to get into half of a game (servers crashed again mid-way), and can safely say I don't like the OpFor weapon's iron sights (do we play as the Russians?). But other than that and getting used to the feel of the game, it's pretty sweet :thumbup:
