Everyone loves a good YouTube video, right? Well, following the success of our last machinima competition it's fair to say many people love to make them too. To that end, we will be launching the Orb of Oculus camera tool next week to allow even more creativity for RuneScape filmmakers, which should come in handy for those looking to enter the competition!

 

The first machinima competition was pretty straightforward: make a short machinima using RuneScape. This time, however, we're introducing a theme to spice things up a bit. We want you to make us an advert for something within RuneScape!

 

It could be anything from a location to a shop, a monster or an item, or even a whole skill. Alternatively, you may want to advertise a RuneScape business (e.g. your restaurant or wrestling federation) or a tournament you have planned. In short, you can advertise just about anything, so long as it exists within RuneScape.

 

The winner will receive lifetime membership to RuneScape, a tour of the studio to meet the people who make RuneScape happen, and an invitation to a Jagex event to be held later this year. The event is very much in the planning stages at the moment, but we'll be sure to elaborate as the event takes shape. Meanwhile, four runners-up will each receive lifetime RuneScape membership.

Might give it a go just for the laughs and possibility of winning a lifetime of RS membership :^_^: They don't actually define "lifetime" though, could mean until your character dies in RS :P

Yawn. It's a bad sign when Jagex are now making update annoucements for future updates on the main page instead of making the annoucement when it is ACTUALLY RELEASED. Plus, machinima does not interest me in the slightest and the amount of attention Jagex are starting to give it is annoying to say the least. Less 'soon' more 'now'

The announcement is for the Machinima Competition, not the Orb of Oculus. They're keeping their promise to start it by the end of January.

 

And for those of you complaining, it's fairly obvious the Orb of Oculus won't be the only game update next week.

30 seconds? Im gonna speak like.. really really fast, and you'll have to slow it down to like milliseconds to hear it make it like 70 frames per seconds so its actually 1 min 30 worth.

Thank the heavens. They mentioned variety in the announcement and, thinking back on the twitter hint, I was scared. >_>

I do appreciate what Jagex is trying to do with this Orb, but it doesn't sound very fun at all; I will hate it like most other updates. It may grow on me; but as for right now it looks like a piece of crap that will most likely be bug filled, and the only update for 4 months.

Eh, I might as well try. Never made a film (in Runescape) before and I could deal with lifetime membership :P
