Toys of your childhood.

Featured Replies

As I was walking through wal-mart today I walked pass the toy section. I was bored waiting for mom to get done shopping and went down a stroll a lane. I was instantly hit with all sort of childhood memories. I walked into the matchbox/hot-wheel car section of the toys. These were the toys I played with when I was 4 till I turned about 6 or 7. After a few minutes there I went to another isle and found the lego's and the model car isle. Lego's and model cars is what I used to build from about 7 till about 11. I went down one more isle and found the model rockets. I played with rockets for many years from 11 till about 16. After thinking about all of this I get a call from my mother telling me to come find her, so I left with all of these memories in my head. However I made my self a promise to buy some rockets one of these days and launch them again in my back yard.

So what did you play with when you was younger? Did you play with a mixture of toys and gadgets, or did you just stick with one thing all through your childhood?

I LOVED Breyer Horses. My friend and I collected them and our favourite days were when we FINALLY saved up enough money (~$20-$40 or something) to buy another  I hope I still have all mine somewhere tbh.

There were other things too but that's the one that really stands out in my memory.

Army men. Not little posable action figures, but small figures and vehicles. I would make all kinds of scenarios.

They're in my brothers room now, and he has a toy aircraft carrier. I'm going in.

A golf club. I'd get home, go outside and create some imaginary game involving my golf club as whatever I needed it to be, and just immersed myself in fantasy while my dog chased rabbits for hours. Continued through sixth grade, I think. Fond memories.

Also, gamecube. Super Mario Sunshine and Animal Crossing, and sometimes the original Halo with my brother. Very fond memories of those games.

Still got that one.

Yeah, when I was way younger, I created insanely elaborate wars and even cities.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

You guys beat me. The topic title immediatly made me think of Lego's. Pokemon cards were awesome as well.

I would have thought you'd have enjoyed pretending to be in an office and doing office like things. hm.

but srsly pokemon, yu gi oh, magic cards, all that crap.

Lego. Lego and Lego only.

(I hate when people call them 'Lego's' )

Multiplication sticks.

My Nanna gave me a massive box of these and they're all different lengths and colours, going from like 1x1cm (white) to like 12x1 (deep bluuuue). I used to tip them all out on the floor, take out all the red ones (2x1) and green ones (3x1) and stage little wars with them, using the rest of the blocks as like a landscape. It was so so fun. I also used to make little vehicle/ship things by stacking them together, and then destroying them by tossing little 1x1 blocks at them.

Man they were so much cooler than Lego.

I would spend like entire days playing with them. Hell, I still would today. Man, I was a strange child. ._. I suppose I still am, too.

Yeah same here, THE PLURAL OF LEGO IS LEGO! There is so such word as "Lego's".

Apart from Lego, Matchbox Cars, and when I got a bit older Pokeon Cards. But still Lego was my main "toy" as such. I never really had a whole lot of toys like some other kids.

A hoop and a stick. I used to play with that for hours, man, until i broke the hoop. And the stick. So I just played with legos and whatnot instead.

And of course, legos, Pokemon trading cards, and gameboys, lots of them, from the old gray brick to gba.

Wow. It's been a long time since I've thought about Mighty Max.

La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

Lego, lego and more lego for me. Without a doubt my favourite childhood toy. Had loads of matchbox cars and a big rug that was a town with roads and stuff as well.

Also remember a toy called "Dragonflys" or something. It was like a guy with wings and you clicked him ontop of his dragon and pulled its tail and the figure shot up into the air. Caused all kind of carnage with that.

Lego, of which I still have all of the ones I had when I was little, and still buy them often. Yu-Gi-Oh I played with until I was maybe 12... I still have all my cards and stuff. And Beyblades :P I still have a bunch of those in a box in my closet.

Anybody remember these Lego games?

Nintendo... The NES and later the GameCube, when the NES was sadly fried. Animal Crossing and Paper Mario were the best games, along with Super Smash Bros. Melee.

I also collected CareBears up until they recently disappeared from stores last year sometime. So I have like 20-30 (not kidding) of them.

Plus a bunch of D&D stuff I got into when I was like 13, which I still play with from time to time, more often than not I just use the books as reference.
