Desperate times call for desperate measures?

While on my way to achieving sixty mining, I've been spending a lot of time traveling to Edgeville from Barbarian Village. In between coal loads, I'll occasionally find a pile of arrows lying around, ranging from bronze to steel, and go out of my way to pick them up. (Since I'll eventually be training Ranging later). Needless to say, I've built up quite a stock, but today, a user made an interesting comment directed toward me. After going out of my way to pick some arrows up, he called me a "scavenger". Now, this didn't offend me, yet did make me think. Am I frugal person? Have others been in my situation before? How "cheap" can other users be? Discuss.

If you picked up X arrows a day for Y days you would have XY arrows by in Z days.

But seriously, ignore em. It may just be my upbringing, but I pick up a lot of stuff I see on the ground, what a waste.

Squirrels are scavengers, and squirrels are adorable. Look at it that way. 20zqm2c.gif

You are, indeed, frugal, as those arrows are quite important. (A little tip: You can get iron arrow drops by killing Minotaurs in the Stronghold of Security; entrance's right by your coal rocks)

Getting called a name doesn't do anything for me. If I see something on the ground that will benefit me later, I certainly won't hesitate to pick it up (after all, I play this game for myself, not for others, right?).

I got called a noob for collecting peoples iron arrows at minotaurs (I'm 116 combat). Times are tough. RuneScape needs a stimulus package.

It's like picking up coins while slaying

Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

You'll be the one laughing down the road when said person has to spend time making money to buy the items you got from picking up while training. Honestly it's not being cheap, it's being smart and prepared. Why wouldn't you pick up free stuff that you'll end up using later?

I always pick up useful items whenever I see them. A lot of the time when doing slayer tasks people around me don't pick up their coin drops or low level armour drops. I usually run over, take them myself and alch them for some extra cash. Every little bit adds up after a while.

If you picked up X arrows a day for Y days you would have XY arrows by in Z days.

Hint: Y=Z

Who cares? I get called a noob all the time when I collect coins on slayer tasks. I usually get an additional 15-20k at say greater demons or gargoyles by simply picking up the coins. Not to mention that this is in Kuradal's dungeon and I'm 119 combat.

Exactly. Wait. I do that. ZOMG!

every efficient economy must have scavengers like yourself :P

They're important in their own right.

But it's definitely something you want to grow out of eventually.

as a human being you have much greater potential than collecting arrows.

That's right, you could go to memebers, and make those arrows from scratch!

I pick up coins, even if it isn't my drop.

Wongton is better than me in anyway~~

I love people that leave behind small drops and coins from Slayer tasks. I get all my natures from drops, so it's simply free money for me to alch the stuff :D

I am level 138 with a reasonably well off bank and quite a few expensive 99's... well only a couple, but all very expensive.

I still go as far as to pick up that single bronze arrow on the ground, even a single gold piece on the ground... everything adds up

I pick up coins, even if it isn't my drop.

This.

If I can see coins from their kill, it means they didn't want them... in which case, they're mine.

I never pick up coins. waste of my time. Ok not rly, I just don't.

I drop lots of all that little small stuff... I'm not sure why.

And no you're not a "scavenger" you simply find collecting arrows better than buying them.

I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Comped 4/30/15

I used to pick up small items all of the time when I was a lower level and not as familiar with the game. Now, it just seems pointless for me to do so because I can just make a lot more arrows or coins at a quicker rate than I would be able to collect off of the ground. However, I will pick up expensive bolts.

SWAG

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

Since the GE i often find myself picking up alot of stuff. Theres always a few spots in the bank to hold off till i get to the GE, then i can put it up for sale.

I dont play cheap anymore. I want it, and i want it fast. I'm not picky about 1000 gp left on the ground in if can pick up a 3k item sintead ans stay for 10 more kills.

Yeah, I'm pretty into leaving behind 3k in gold, because my inventory fills with herbs and such that are at least 3.5k

HAHAHAHAHA GOTTA LOVE THE WAY YOU PUT YOUR LIFE INTO RUNESCAPE LOOOOOOLL

i feel noob sometimes at slayer when i pick up all coing =P but hey if it gives me 30k+ /(good coindroping monster) and i have done 200 slayer tasks sins the counting begun, and at least half of those task are good coin dropers. 30k x 100= 3000k . thats 3m for on small extra click :P

and i also think its fun to see how much you can get from each slayer task :D

I pick up my coins at slayer tasks too. It gives me a comfortable feeling to see how those coins pay for the pots I use, even when I know that I won't lose money with slayer anyway  You're not a scavenger. Some players just forget that lots of small pieces add up to a big total too. If you pick up a Saradomin Sword split (for example) of 2100000 coins, you can also pick up coins from 210 slayer tasks with an average of 50gp drop and 200NPC's/task. Just for doing...well, almost nothing.
