June 6, 201016 yr Alright, long story short, I traded in a bunch of old DS games to Gamestop, got a lot more than I thought I would, and now I have $181 worth of in-store credit. I'm not much of a gamer, but I have all this money, and I'm not sure what to get. Here's where you guys come in! I have a Wii which I very rarely play. Unless there's some life-changing game that just came out for Wii, I don't think I'd get anything for that. I have a PC, but my computer currently can't handle [cabbage], so modern PC games are pretty much out of the question. Used 360s are only $160, and I'm pretty tempted by that. I don't mind getting things used, even systems. Think that would be worth it? I'd have quite a bit of playing time with the summer coming up. I just don't want the 360 to become outdated quickly, in which case I might just save my credit for whatever new system gets released. I would be willing to put about $50 cash in to get something pricier, also. So, if you were in my situation, what would you buy? And just to make the topic more interesting, what would you personally buy? Thanks! (And no, I don't believe this thread applies to the "suggest-a-game" topic.)
June 6, 201016 yr Wait, so Gamestop gave you $180 bucks in CREDIT? Those cheap bastards. I would of requested for phyiscal money and with that money start upgrading the PC for cheaper gaaming in the long run. If I wanted it in cash they'd probably give me like 80 bucks total or something. I'd eventually spend that much at Gamestop, so I figured I'd put it towards credit.
June 6, 201016 yr There's this new DS that's coming out. It's called the D3S or something like that. Wongton is better than me in anyway~~

I just hate how cheap Gamestop is. $55 for a USED copy of Modern Warefare. New costs 60. >_> Anyway, I would trade in the Wii for credit too because after you buy the 360 you won't have money to buy any decent games for it. June 6, 201016 yr If you do plan on trading the Wii in and getting a 360, I'd suggest going for older 360 games than newer ones as you should be able to get a fair amount for not much. I'd suggest the bigger games such as GTA4, Gears of war and mirrors edge come to mind as they should be very cheap now. If your into racing games Race driver: Grid and Dirt2 should be fairly cheap by now too. Want to be my friend? June 6, 201016 yr Personally I wouldn't go to Gamestop to begin with, you can get modern warfare 2 for about $30 on Ebay NEW. I would explore the option of buying online instead of going to Gamestop they are so cheap and such a rip its not even funny. I have bought all my games for my PS3 on Ebay and Amazon and I have bought new and used I have never had a problem with any of it. You could get an Xbox 360 system, just the system for around $100 on Ebay, don't go to Gamestop anymore its really not worth it <_< Get a Gamestop card and buy some used games for 360, and then buy a system on Ebay or something, you can get things like GTA4 and other older games for almost $10 on Ebay sometimes just search around and decide.
June 6, 201016 yr Personally i would buy a PSP, but that's just me. I have no idea of what sort of crap is on the 360 so no help from me there. My list personally goes Wii, PS3, 360. They have alot of cheap used gamecube games at gamestop which you could use on the Wii, that is if you have a GC controller. Pretty sure they still sell them. That's coming from a Nintendo fan though, so i'm biased towards nintendo stuff. Back on topic if i got a psp, I'd get a used one, with a few games like Rock Band Unplugged, LBP, and save for KHBBS when it comes out.
June 6, 201016 yr Author The only main reason I went to Gamestop instead of selling the games on Ebay is because it would take a ton of time to sell the games individually, and because they had a 50% in-store credit bonus deal going on.Trading in my Wii is definitely a possibility. If they don't offer much at Gamestop I'll probably look to selling it on Ebay. I don't have an HD television, just a regular old-ish one. But it's pretty big, and I know that the 360 will run on regular TVs also. It doesn't make a big difference does it? I don't care about graphics that much, so as long as it doesn't look awful I'm fine. @taco I had a PSP and sold it to my friend 'cause there weren't any good games IMO.
June 6, 201016 yr Monster Hunter Tri is an option, since you have a Wii. That game alone (And super mario galaxy, but not everyone likes platforming) is reason to keep it.
June 6, 201016 yr Yes yes yes Starcraft 2 and Maybe TF2/ BC2 or something like that for the PC? Team Fortress 2 on the PC is amazing I hear.

June 6, 201016 yr A 360 is fine on an older TV. I use a large tube TV for my 360 and to be honest I see very little difference between that and my friends HD tv when playing most games. June 7, 201016 yr If you don't game much, and don't plan to, I'd suggest a PS3. But since that's not in the budget, I'd stick with the Wii and buy Super Mario Galaxy 2. I'd lean away from Monster Hunter Tri - that's a committing game. If you want, you could also get a 360, but that whole system feels like it's tilted to the "hardcore gamer." A lot of the games are FPS, and besides that your real best bets are racing or sports games, with the occasional stray. Also, if you want to play multiplayer (online OR offline), get Xbox. Although, like someone said, you could just invest in a computer. Maybe sell your $181 in credit to a gamer friend for $150 cash.
June 7, 201016 yr you can be cool if even if you dont wear a sombrero....... i digress id sell the credit for 150. what ^ said ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
June 7, 201016 yr Author I'm actually thinking of going with a PS3. Seems like a better investment, seeing as a wireless adapter for the 360 is 100 dollars (?!?!?!), I'd need to buy a harddrive for the 360, and the online play for the PS3 is free. Hmm...
June 7, 201016 yr If I were you, I would buy the used 360. or Maybe even a brand new Xbox 360 Pro for 199.99.The couple extra dollars isnt much to ask for a brand new console and 2 free games, right? Haha. Or you could always just buy a new PSP and use it for internet surfing like me! - 60,023rd to 99 Firemaking on April 29th, 2012 -- 15,152nd to 99 agility on August 21st, 2011 -- 30,569th to 99 Prayer on June 26th, 2011 -- 22,646th to 99 Hunter on Jan 9th, 2011 -1993 Miata; sold - 2001 E46 330i; "totaled" - 2001 E46 325iT; Bags and wheels ;)

June 7, 201016 yr I would strongly recommend the PS3 over the 360. Don't need to pay for a wireless adapter, don't need to pay for "live" access and quite honestly it just seems like a more solid system. I have both systems, by the way. The PS3 I actually ended up getting used at gamestop for $220 or so. If you want the slim it's probably worth the extra $80 but I just opted for the 60 (or 80, I forget) pre-owned model. Hasn't given me any issues thus far where as my 360 has been having some issues where it will just randomly restart it's self. Oh and unless you're a big halo guy I just don't see any other exclusives on the 360 worth mentioning.

This guy speaks the truth, Valve have done well with the continuous free updates since the launch  You can play it on a fairly low end machine too which is good.
