Hedgehog
After reading through the topic on overrated bands, I thought it would be a good idea to create a similar thread for bands that don't get the recognition they deserve. Hopefully this thread will help you find some new styles of music and help out some lesser known bands. Some of my favorite bands don't have the amount of fans they deserve. First is Oceansize: I'm sure that some of you know my obsession with this band, in fact my signature is a picture of the singer and my profile picture is the album cover for their 2nd album. Anyway, they make some really good music: [hide]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8CZNX-uuhI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWfBUMipul8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8OzPvNrzP4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAc5JCKfgZ0&feature=related[/hide] Another band I would like to talk about is Modwheelmood. When Alessandro Cortini left Nine Inch Nails, he formed MWM, and produces some really simple, catchy electronic music. This is some of the best stuff I have heard in my life, and I'm really glad that I found them. In the early 1990s they made some really great music that was years ahead of their time. Had their music been released today, it could easily reach the top 20, but as for now they are mostly covered up by other bands from the era, such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pearl Jam. mughinn
i know its not underrated as a whole(i even think its rated as one of the best bands in history), but i got to say Pink Floyd. They're just recognized for Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall an Wish you where here(and not that much by the last). They have another 11 completely awesome CDs that i hear nobody talk about. And that brings me to another guy, the original guitar player and lead singer of Pink Floyd, Syd Barret. He has 3(or 4, lol, i dont really know a lot of him) CDs that are mind blowing. Just though i had to put that here. EDIT: Forgot to add Tom Waits(Scarlett Johansson did a cover CD with his songs and some people believe that she made them) and Micah Hinson. These 2 have awesome music, my father showed them to me and i love them, he says they sing with "nostalgic happiness".

Atom Smash40
just clarification, does 'underrated' = 'unheard of / not too widely known'? i only ask because i was under the impression that underrated would be bands that many people know exist but don't get enough credit for their music or their music isn't appreciated enough despite being widely known if we're talking stricty underrated (and not 'unheard of'), then first one that comes to MY mind is Anti-Flag (up until For Blood and Empire, which was before they sold out) ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~

Intriguing
Led Zeppelin... really? :-| Anyway, the only band that really comes to mind is Pilotdrift. It's mainly because they didn't take advantage of the recognition they got when they had the chance, but still..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NLqGypZ-FE Cool. Tim_Finch
Chevelle Really must agree on this one, I've never heard of them until I found one of their CD's in my brother's bedroom. They're now my favorite band. Their style changes quite a bit throughout their albums, but still retain a certain unique quality that I'm addicted to. Alg
Led Zeppelin... really? :-| Well, once you get past the fact that they're almost entirely known for Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, etc...As a whole, the band's considered the greatest classic rock band ever, so there's really no room for being underrated. The fact that most people know only a handful of their songs would make the rest of them underrated. Or it's an elaborate troll attempt. Either way. On a similar note (heh.) Jeff Beck. He gets overshadowed by other guitarists, especially Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, but unlike them he's still making music. One example:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1hijzkOrnkOne song can't do him justice. His most recent album goes from a slow symphonic song to an upbeat blues song, then later from jazz to opera and it's, simply put, [bleep]ing amazing. Intriguing
Well, once you get past the fact that they're almost entirely known for Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, etc...As a whole, the band's considered the greatest classic rock band ever, so there's really no room for being underrated. The fact that most people know only a handful of their songs would make the rest of them underrated. Or it's an elaborate troll attempt. Either way. That's fair enough I guess. I just wouldn't use 'underrated' as a description for a band that is likely to be mentioned in an 'overrated bands' thread as well. :PAs for Chevelle, they were one of my favourite bands a few years back, when Wonder What's Next was out. Also one of the bands that introduced me to metal. Kind of lost interest in them after that though. Cool.
Ss_J9_Goten
Adramelch! Prog/Power metal from Italy that sounds like nothing else. The riffs are amazing and the melodies and leadwork are [bleep]ing awesome without being at all excessive. The vocals put a lot of people off at first, but that's because they're not listening hard enough! His voice is nasal, but it works because his voice is clear and full of passion and it actually helps bring it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHTKMJjZ-X8
D Jay99
Because of GhostsWould be post rock I guess, their music is pretty simple but it conveys lots of emotions and they really know how to build up a song.[hide]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY_fy4sHBBI (don't mind the video)[/hide] The Evpatoria ReportOne of the best post rock bands I've ever heard, they only have 2 albums but they're both incredible. At the start of Taijin Kyofusho you can hear the last few seconds of the crashed Columbia, rest of the song is built around that.[hide]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7s4-GcCitAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxGgDp14e_Y (again don't mind the picture and another good part after 10:00 was cut off)[/hide] The ChasmI remember warri0r being really into them so you might have heard ot them, they are awesome songwriters and make incredible thrash/death metal. Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph is possibly one of the best metal albums ever released.[hide]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hGvCFih1SYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMeRT04r5jM[/hide] I guess these bands are more unheard of than underrated but whatever. I've been listening to Jeff Beck for ages, my Dad is a huge fan.
