Roddeck (The player's 'advisor') is a f- failure. Most players tend to skip tutorials as they're dull and most of the basic information you get can be learned through playing the game and using common sense. Therefore, new players don't know they can ask Roddeck for advice on stuff like 'Where do I get a pickaxe?' and then we (The experienced players :shades:) will have to tolerate "Need money/hatchet/pickaxe/other skilling items plzzz"

That's exactly why Jagex should have never gotten rid of the starting supplies or money in the first place.

Plus, the old Tutorial Island was more... RS-like in some way.

The old tutorial gave players a feel for almost every aspect of the game, you had to train multiple skills, and use multiple combat methods to advance - I think you mean it was more in depth, not RS-like. :P

I guess. But the fact that you also *see* the other players completing the tutorial could (maybe) make one think "Hah! I completed this part before that guy!" and boost one's confidence. :3

That's true as well. :P

I remember the day I started.....

Loaded client, created account, appeared in Lumbridge...with nothing in my inventory at all.

I don't see a big deal with having no items to start with. It will make the community more mature because all the little kids with short attention spans will quit before they can find a hatchet.

I guess the gold isn't that useful, but they should have kept the old stuff (don't you get like, a hatchet or a pickaxe when you finish the current tutorial?).

Nope.

new tutural i way more complicated than old..

StarViv.png

I remember when RS2 Tut island came out, I made a new account in hopes of drop trading the (gasp shock horror) to my actual account that I made before Tut island was even around. I spent like 6 hours getting like 100 cooked bread and shrimp, 5k bronze arrows, and 10k of each rune, only to find that none of it transfers when you leave the island

I remember when you created an account and an NPC asked you what type of player you wanted to be and then give you some starting supplies.

Of course he'd only give you mining and smithing equipment, or some meat and a tinderbox but its the thought that counts!

Forget the 25 gold.

Did you know that you can skip the tutorial entirely now?

Yes. It's useful for players creating a new account (Pure, skiller etc) but it's an awful thing for those creating their first account although the new tutorial doesn't help at all.

You could make much more than that killing level 2 men.

lmfao that thread.

Yeah I made a new acc just for fun and I noticed you start out with literally nothing (and also get 3 levels in either wc or mining in the tutorial, which is....nice, I suppose...).

Guess it's not TOO big of a deal.

Also, Dungeoneering is a fantastic way for new players to train. They get all necessary equipment and they get free food. In addition they can die however many times they want and lose nothing from the Overworld, which is nice preparation for the more dangerous Overworld.

I think that it is a part of their strategy ones the new account created they credit the account and after some time they debit the same. It doesnt affect me.

How the hell can you skip the whole thing?

I think it's just a case of clicking a button after you 'create' your character etc. I guess it no longer needs to be there to slow down the creation of bots like it used to be!

I feel this thread can benefit greatly from this image;

High-alching that REALLY expensive item in my inventory looks more and more tempting with every beer I drink.

If you don't start out with anything anymore, is there even still a wooden shield or no?

If you don't start out with anything anymore, is there even still a wooden shield or no?

fally shield shop and the spawn north of varrock.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Oh sweet. I'm glad they didn't completely remove it.

Yeah it kinda sucks as a shield, but more for the nostalgia. And actually, it has no negative stats so it's nice for newcomers to experience different combat styles without suffering negative bonuses or having to change to a different off hand item (which they probably don't have anyway).

I remember using those on my mage pure :shades:

Not to bring y'all down or anything, but I think this is mostly nostalgia than concern for the new players... not that it's a bad thing, I prefer the old system as well.

they should of had an option of either using the tutorial island or the dragon tutorial

The once was a mexican called pepsi,

Or maybe it's just he had Hep C,

He was a pretty cool bro,

Bros generally are you know,

He hailed from the land of 'taters,

He was known to hate many-a-hater,

He likes a girl named Lacey,

His thoughts about her are kind of racy,

And also his dad likes to [rooster].

I think there should be a wooden shield spawn somewhere in lumbridge. Just something for newbies to go "oh, cool" and be able to fill the slot. As it is, it's outside the beginner zones in both places.

cant they just merge them together? At least it'll make producing bot accounts a lot harder.
