anonymouse_
I might occasionally wear my rc, agil, or prayer capes when I get them. As for any other skill capes, well they're not much of achievement. Either afk-able, a by-product of combat, or easily buyable. And the weed cape looks ugly tbh.
Blutters
Skill capes are worn to show skill. How much or how little skill that might be is at the discretion of onlookers' opinions...
Adam007
It's funny because when it comes to drawing attention party hats used to be like that. I could log in on a f2p server and literally have crowds following me. Now I log on f2p and people don't know what party hats even are. I feel like you'd get less reaction wearing one on a f2p server also just because most people might not know what they are. But party hats no longer are universally known as status symbols. Owned_Nex
Btw junk and crashing are two different things. Anyways, I wear my Skillcape when I'm doing something suicidal/dangerous, as I don't want to unnecessarily risk my fire cape. All I wear them for is the +9 defense stats. Dungeoneering isn't a skill. vox1st
I want the herblore skillcape hood to pretend to be guthix....But the capes should be for the wearer, not the audience not always. If you like a skill, level it. That's all there is to it for me. Emotes are awesome too. Obtaurian
Because I want to? very constructive post. wd  You have yet to offer any sort of rebuttal to any argument in this thread, yet you feel compelled to tell others that they're not posting constructively? Question: Do you own any party hats or wearable rares? If you do, why? There are much better alternatives available, so I don't see the point in spending hundreds of millions on an aesthetic item which offers no benefit to you other than making you feel cool. That's arguably much more [developmentally delayed]ed than wearing a skill cape, which, at the very least, is proof that a player has a skill that will actually help him/her somewhere in Runescape or Daemonheim. Disclaimer: The above is laced with sarcasm. I don't want anyone jumping down my throat thinking that I hate rares. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. Sorry, I should have clarified my point a little more: As implied in my first post in this thread, I don't believe that utility is the only reason to own or wear an item, hence why I don't believe that rares (or skill capes) are "useless," so to speak. But, yes, they are technically useless. I hope that makes sense. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

LinkOlaran
Basically, I wore my skillcape when that was all I had. I tend to go the efficient route, so when I got my sw cape, all my skill capes went onto my cape rack in my poh. I wore my fletching cape since it was the first 99 I had ever gotten. I was damned proud of that cape. Once I got 99 cooking, I wore that cape instead, upon realizing that the trimmed fletching cape, in my opinion, was ugly as hell >.> By the time I got 99 crafting, I think I either already had the sw cape, or got it soon after crafting, so I didn't have much of a chance to wear it around that much either way. Quest cape was nice to look at, but was pointless to wear once I had trimmed skillcapes, since the stats of trimmed skillcapes are slightly higher. Due to my dialup internet, I'm unable to get a firecape, plus I think it's ugly anyway. Again, my opinion. I wear my capes when I feel the need to dress up, which doesn't come up that often, really. Red sw cape for all combat stuff. When I'm skilling, I might get an outfit together and wear my crafting cape or something, but otherwise, spottier cape and boots of lightness. Nowadays, I don't wear much of anything, too busy dungeoning :P And since I'm flat out efficient/stingy (and not that rich) rares aren't that important to me. I can understand the want to wear and show it off, but I won't buy something for the intent of lending it out occasionally, or making money off of it. If I buy something, it has to be something I can get a use out of constantly. I only bought bcp/tassets, for instance, because it was crashing and I knew it would be somewhat useful for slaying. If I have cash, and don't need any gear, then it'll likely go into skilling. If I stopped putting cash into skills and sold off some of my gear, yeah, maybe I could buy a rare. But honestly, I don't want to. I'm not really the type to want to show off my wealth. I'd rather put it to direct use via better gear and higher skills. That's my opinion, anyway. (and yes, my first two 99s were the so-called 'noob' capes. I got cooking for that specific reason, just to see if people would react. Plus, I honestly enjoyed fletching and cooking as a skill. Somehow...)

Some people actually do enjoy playing around with the market to make money.Thats why some people who are extremely rich still merchant because they enjoy doing so. GuidesForScapers
Obby cape is the best cape i can use at the moment. I don't really suck, i just never bothered with a 99, never had the desire. I tried for a firecape once, on Jad i screwed up and never bothered again. As for Soul Wars cape and Ardy Cape, i havn't been playing until a little while ago. I missed the releases and never really knew about them, not much of a fan of Soul Wars/Diaries anyway. I've bought 99 mage and it will take me a day or two to get. Once i get myself the cape, i doubt i will use any other until my next 99/i get a firecape. With capes like fletching/cooking etc, i guess the people that have them as their only 99 may not have unlocked many other options. For the price and look, i feel they are a good choice. Legalize baby punching. Tax and regulate it. Punch babies erry day.
