Why do people wear skillcapes?

I wear my Agility cape because it has the best emote ever.

 

That and I love the colours.

I wear soul wars cape 90% of the time, firecape 5% of the time, and ardy cape 3 5% of the time for its stab bonus where I feel its necessary for rapier :)

Thats 98.5%-I assume the rest is accumulator?

My maths tells me that 90 + 5 + 5 = 100 :unsure:

Nah it's "Ardougne Cloak 3" 5% of the time. Or that would be the logical thing for him to have meant.

I rarely wear my farming cape when i'm doing nothing, as a sign of the achievement, but other than that, when i really need an useful cape, i never wear them, the stats are horrible and they don't look better than SW/fire capes and hardly show any achievement at all. Seeing a slayer cape when training slayer is not a sign of achievement, but a tragedy.

I agree with that, I see them and the majority hope you'll hope because they are slaying with a slayer cape, same with impling hunting, people with hunter capes think you'll hope because they're wielding a cape like they're marking their territory with a cape.

No, it's the dragon scimitar of capes to be honest. 4 prayer is 2 more than fire cape, but 4 str 1 attack less, 2 less than ardy cape(and 6 stab less) and a whopping 8 less than sw cape. So by that logic, sw cape is 3 times the cape a skill cape is, which is a large difference. Face it, the stats are horrible and there is no place where the cape would be the best to use(where as cls is the best weapon in certain situations).

Well personally i like the aesthetics of the fire cape better than skill capes, i mean, flowing lava! Come on!

tbh combat is the only place where i reallly think why a skillcape

 

standing in edge i sometimes wear one or rcing i wear one with the run update the spotty cape doesnt make any difference

 

though sometimes when im skilling i think "why do people wear firecape"

Considering I'm almost always slaying, I haven't worn a skill cape in a while. The Soul Wars Cape is just that much better.

I haven't gotten around to getting the soul wars or the ardy cape because I hate quests and diaries. But when I do I'm sure I'll put my prayer cape on the cape rack and retire it.

I wear my skill capes because I'm proud of my skills. My first level 99 was range in '06 back before it became a semi buyable skill. I worked my butt off for it and I think I'll always wear it. My Fishing cape I'm proud of because I took the super slow route along the way and fished about 98% sharks from 76-99. I made a ton of cash and some awesome friends along the way and it was a great time for me in runescape. Although many people consider firemaking a noob skill how many level 99 fm'ers have burnt only their own self cut logs? I got to about 97 wc cutting and burning willows. I think thats quite the achivement. Closing in on 99 magic I can't wait to wear the cape around. I think it has an awesome design (one of my fav visually in runescape) and magic has always been one of my fav skills. Why not wear them?

Stats don't matter if you never leave the GE.

Summoning cape with claws helps to counter the inherent newbishness of full rune and ringmaster hat.

When fighting anything I will wear the best cape thats necersarry - like Fire cape, SW capw or Ardy cape.

 

When im skilling I will wear my Farming cape, Crafting cape or my newest 99 until the novelty wears off and i want my Farming cape back! <3:

Thanks, I pride myself on those.

But in all fairness, that is a valid point. I want to wear a skillcape simply because I want to. Why should I feel any different regardless of the fact that there's better capes out there? Really, some of it comes down to personal preference.
