Ring of Wealth

The Ring of Wealth is probably one of the most 'secretive' Jagex items. Until now...

Mod Ash was in his CC yesterday talking to peeps for a few hours, and here's what he had to say about the Ring of Wealth:

I'd post this on the RuneScape Forums but unfortunately Jagex refuses to give the forum a decent update to allow such things. :P

Yeah this is pretty old news, hence why I got rid of my ROW months ago.

its only really good for monsters who drop little else except gems and half keys and such. I use it on tasks where all they drop is from that rare drop table i.e. demon tasks

I believe they said in the knowledgebase that it would only remove nothing drops - Nothing about gems.

I'm guessing you didn't read the whole article then.

"The rare drop table contains some of the more exclusive items in the game, including, but not limited to, dragon items, certain rune items, shield halves, key parts and uncut gems."

"The rare drop table is shared between a variety of NPCs"

"The ring of wealth comes into play whenever you are rolling on the rare drop table"

It makes it pretty clear.

They didn't say it only affects monsters that drop gems. Mod Ash said that npc's that drop gems will get affected by the Ring of wealth for old dragon stuff. The KBase is still misleading and lots of people still wish to use it.

It only affects monsters that drop gems because gems are a part of the rare drop table, and the ring increases the chance of an item on the rare drop table.

I thought the knowledge base was pretty clear about it.

I don't see how it is misleading. It's explained quite well.

They already had that information on the knowledge base =/

The knowledge base is pretty much the best source of information, as this guy said, it has been there months.

The knowledge base is better than any fansite for information as it's all written by Jagex staff themselves and is available instantly, the minute their is an update.

Except when they can't even get the information for their own game right and take weeks to fix it.

The KB is often wrong. The guardian's ward has +50ish slash attack, y'know? (though they fixed that after a month or so)

Yeah the KB does have quite a few errors. But in this case for the row, when they announced it, it was a pretty big deal as it was the first time they released info regarding how the row actually works. Considering the depth of information and the announcement, I'm sure it was more thoroughly checked than a regular KB addition.

Yeah thats very old news.

Was confirmed ages ago RoW effects the "rare" drop table, but pretty much every item polayers consider rare is not part of the rare drop table, they instead are in the "special" drop table

I honestly don't remember seeing this on the KBase until you guys posted it. O_o And yes, it is still misleading. A lot of people still assume that it increases the chances of rare drops, when it doesn't. I'm guessing this may have been obvious for a few peeps but there were lots of theories behind the ROW regarding it increasing coin drops, charms, clues, etc etc. When he said this in game, people were shocked at the response.

They promised to be clearer on the workings of the row, a few weeks later they added the article.

And yes, I was as shocked as you were, it is utterly useless.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that he/she is talking to somebody about what ring to take to bosses like those at god wars.

If you're going to do slayer tasks like greaters and dust devils the ring is great, just look at the drop logs, compare the drop rates.

Drop rates of what items exactly? They are pretty much useless anywhere.

Nothing particular, the drop table completely changes. Items I consider valuable enough to sell or alch (half keys, rune stuff) nearly triple, and dragon items pretty much double.

Remember when we used to kill dust devils for dragon chains? The chain was around 26k without and 16k with.

Have I convinced to look at your nearest drop table yet?

Yeah, no new news here, ring is useless at bosses, but could be somewhat useful on slayer, depending on the task.
