ArmadylArcher
This is an example of what you can see during the Perseid meteor shower that's happening between Aug 12-22nd. It should be able to be viewed all over after midnight, as long as it's dark out you should probably be able to see it. Check out this shot of a couple of Perseid meteors some aurora borealis. more info on times, locations and what the perseids actually are: http://www.news1130.com/news/local/article/87937--keep-your-eyes-on-the-sky-for-perseid-meteor-showerhttp://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/earthskys-meteor-shower-guidehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perseidshttp://www.space.com/spacewatch/perseid-meteor-shower-2010-100806.html

Omnitec
Indeed, The Times suggests some time between Midnight and Dawn for Friday morning to see the showers. The sky will be darker earlier also I believe, and the best place to see this is in open areas on high ground <3: I'll see if I can camp in the garden, weather permitting :P. Aeon_
Looks epic. :twss: Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.-Random Youtuber

SeanyTheSailor
I've watched a meteor shower before (Leoned as I recall) it's kinda cool, but not as eciting as you'd think, it is white streaks filling the sky, you see one occasionally but it's not like a rain. Maybe this one will be different. God dammit Seany, STOP SHARING MY MIND" I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done."

Lenticular_J
Is it visible from all over the world or just in certain areas? All over the world. Usually more meteors fall to the south of wherever you are. Maybe this one will be different.Oh, it is. The 12th has always been the peak for me. Just keep an eye out whenever it gets dark tonight. I can almost guarantee you'll see it. Quite a show. I watch it every year. This year, going southwest of the city with some friends. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
jamesrules90
This year, going southwest of the city with some friends. Lucky, don't have a car and my council has our streetlights at permanoon. I hope I will be able to see it. If you click on them they hatch or grow up faster and look awesomer!!!87.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot. mcneilp
According to the news, where i am should have a pretty good view as long as the clouds stay away. Probably take the car and park it at the bottom of the hills on the edge of town and climb to the top to watch. Dupin
Gah, whenever I make plans to start changing my sleeping schedule something awesome starts happening at night. I'll definitely be looking for this, as I've never seen a meteor shower, or even a shooting star, before. The website says they're best viewed just before dawn, has anyone tried getting up early in the morning to see these?
re4p3r1
my girlfriend and i were going to watch that last night. she woke me up at 2 in the morning to go a watch it and we didn't see anything. grrrmust be all over the world kind of thing cause i'm in arizona and the news says it's visible here
Lenticular_J
Saw it. It was good. And that was just at the beginning of the night. I missed the peak a little after midnight, though, because me and my friend wanted to see if we could find this one place north of the city and then clouds and light pollution ruined it. It was great while we watched, though. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
RpgGamer
watched the sky from midnight til 6am. Nothing. Damn clouds. First they ruined the aurora borealis, now the Perseids? Dupin
I saw one :D not a shower, but it was the first shooting star I've seen. Meol, last night was the peak (supposedly) but they continue throughout August. I'll probably go back out again tonight. I should have used my star to wish for less clouds.
