These tests only serve the purpose of putting people into cookie-cutter personality types. It pains me to see people believe this crap. You are who you believe yourself to be, not what a personality test tells you.

 

That's all I have to say on the matter.

 

What's your opinion on the IPIP NEO? Better I assume?

Like Jimmy said, people will answer what they want themselves to be whether they are using a self evaluation or being evaluated by a psychologist. I don't like personality tests because they place people in categories and where there is separation, there is inevitably inequality.

IPIP NEO doesn't place people into categories though, and people will be honest. There are people that will be honest, there are people that won't. It's the best we've got right now to measure personality traits. The ideal personality test DOESN'T tell you who you are, it helps you reword it. If a personality test tells you something about yourself you don't already know, something is wrong. One of the reasons personality psychologists gravitated away from the MBTI and the like, is because of what you said. You can't put people into neat little categories. IPIP NEO reflects this

I'm INTJ as well, but this questions were inaccurate by only offering "yes" or "no." For example, I'm highly introverted, but I actually prefer large crowds over small groups of people because it takes the attention off of me.

An ISTP who is down on themself will foray into the world of value judgments - a place which is not natural for the ISTP - and judge themself by their inability to perform some task. They will then approach the task in a grim emotional state, expecting the worst.

 

ISTPs are excellent in a crisis situations. They're usually good athletes, and have very good hand-eye coordination. They are good at following through with a project, and tying up loose ends. They usually don't have much trouble with school, because they are introverts who can think logically. They are usually patient individuals, although they may be prone to occasional emotional outbursts due to their inattention to their own feelings.

 

ISTPs have a lot of natural ability which makes them good at many different kinds of things. However, they are happiest when they are centered in action-oriented tasks which require detailed logical analysis and technical skill. They take pride in their ability to take the next correct step.

ISTJ, I just did this for a public speaking class. This also ties in with social-psychology quite a bit. So who ever said who the hell cares it is actually used in education. I just wrote a 500 word paper about how I think these preferences will help or hurt me in the workplace, ect. It was also noted roughly half of the population are introverted so the guy above me making stereotypes about them is talking about a very broad group of people. I suggest looking up the definitions of each MBTI preference before jumping to conclusions also, as the names don't exactly do them justice.

As I originally said, the size of it will never matter. Can you be yourself around other people? Yes? No? If you can't answer that, *as you may not be able to* If someone invited you to a big shindig, would you be excited, or just say "sure" kinda so-so feeling?

So, I looked at the percentages of the test after I took it. Doesn't matter what the letters were, seeing as none of them were above 10% (I lie, one category was 30%. sue me). I broked their test :mrgreen: .

I got ENTJ , last time I did this I got INTJ, but I have become better in social situations since then, so I guess it's pretty accurate. I do question the accuracy of these online tests though.

 

Apparently Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are ENTJ's too, so there's still hope for me :mrgreen:

I saw it was all Yes/No questions, so I didn't bother doing it. I can't see how it's going to be accurate when you don't feel like on thing or the other. Otherwise, you just end up being categorised falsely.
