July 23, 200718 yr Adam Clayton, U2- didnt take bass lessons till 1998, thats why most of his bass lines are so simple in all the pre-Pop era. He owned on New Year's Day also. Chris Wolstenholme, Muse edit: Carlos D.- Interpol Hi.
July 24, 200718 yr Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, absoulutely supurb bassist, him and Motorhead's bassist (can never remember his last name, his first is Lemmy) are the only ones I have ever listened to along with the guitarists. [>>Thanks to Yaff2 for Reaper,Trooper, and DOOM sigs, Navyplaya for nature sigs, Hardwick246 for gold sig, ThruItAll for Darkwatch and guitar sigs, and Aijiru for avvy!<<][>>Refresh for new Siggie!<<]

August 7, 200718 yr No one will ever top thee almighty Michael Anthony from Van Halen. Ive seen him do things on a bass that people cant even do on guitars! This is probably my favorite solo from him I also give honorable mention to Geddy Lee(Rush) and Timmy C.(Rage Against the Machine)
August 7, 200718 yr Alex webster, NO questions, i havnt seen anyone better 1980 Berlinetta with a 350, bored, mild cam, intake carb, headers, exhaust
August 8, 200718 yr I must say that the best ones I can come up with are Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Nodding DuckRange: 71/80|Strenght:70/70 |Currently starting at members|
August 11, 200718 yr are you serious? no one said Matt Freeman? Are you SERIOUS? He was inspiration for me to pick up the instrument! He's of Rancid, and he's leeter than hell! listen to maxwell murder if you doubt me.
August 16, 200718 yr Flea FTW. Listen to his bass on the song Aeroplane, and Youtube isn't a good place to go for it cuz they cut a lot of it from the video. Plus that video is probably the band's worst.
August 17, 200718 yr I must say that the best ones I can come up with are Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Im with this guy, these are the greatest bass players. Victor would come out on top mainly for his unique styles, followed by Jaco.

August 17, 200718 yr Just wanted to show this video here, since this is the right place for it. I downloaded the whole song from video.google, but I didnt know this song was saparated at Youtube. Its a great song, called Get on Top by the Red hot chili peppers. Great bass, but the original is better ofcourse. The guitar solo is great also, a must watch for a (flea) fan. August 22, 200718 yr I used to think Flea, but my driving instructor (of all people!?!) guided me to check out the bassist from Primus. Les Claypool is pretty freaking good. I had to post this clip of him from youtube: and this one: Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew
August 22, 200718 yr Flea, but I am sure he has been said a hundred other times in this thread and I am sure there are people that are better then him.
August 25, 200718 yr Les Claypool is my favorite. I'm an emo, and I knew who he was... so stop being dumb and steryotyping That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read. You labeled yourself and said not to stereotype. Nice.
August 25, 200718 yr Steve Harris and Lemmy. J'adore aussi le sexe et les snuff moviesJe trouve que ce sont des purs moments de vieJe ne me reconnais plus dans les gensJe suis juste un cas désespérantEt comme personne ne viendra me réclamerJe terminerai comme un objet retrouvé

September 7, 200718 yr Ok, I disagree 100% that Flea is the best bassist. Listen to some jazz, then come back and tell me who the best bassist is. Also, anyone who said Fieldy is wrong too IMO. He just beats the [bad word] out of the bass. Also if you think about it, these kinds of debates are impossible to answer if you dont know on what grounds are these people the best. Do you mean fingerpick, or pick, or speed, or technicallity, or style? That being said, I say Pete Wentz. Ill let you guess if Im kidding or not.
